          Best accomodation in Bhaktapur”

Wonderful location in the oldest square of Bhaktapur, 10 minuts walking from the Durbar Square, 2 mins from Nyatapola Temple. This is all just perfect, standard room is enormous, fully equipped, newari style. The guesthouse has a restaurant and bar, food is good. Owners were helpful. I absolutely recommend it.

A great place to stay in Bhaktapur”

Absolutely love this place. It was located inside Dattatreya Square, just a few minutes walk to Durbar Square. The guest house is very beautiful, the building itself has more than 700 years of history. The family who run this place are absolutely friendly and helpful. The room is very spacious and beautiful. They provide heater and electric blanket inside the room. Breakfast is tasty. Really recommend this place when staying in Bhaktapur.

One of the best during my trip to Nepal. The food is amazing! friendly staff (one even offered to take me on a tour around the vicinity the day after my arrival). Owners were very willing to talk and offer recommendations. Probably the best momos in town too! I would definitely come back if I'm ever in Bhaktapur!

          Fantastic”

Wow! The Peacock Guest House exceeded my expectations. The house is gorgeous with beautiful woodcarvings throughout. They even have an amazing woodcarving shop there. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean. The staff is amazing! They are willing to help with anything you need. The food at the restaurant was delicious. This place is a 10. I have already recommended it to several people.

          Quiet, peaceful, and historical!”

This hotel was quiet and peaceful with clean and comfortable rooms. Historical building had amazing character. Amazing staff and family owned.

We stayed at the Peacock for two nights. The owners were nice, amazing service, and delicious breakfast! Since our room was in the back of guest house, it was so quiet. The rooms had so much character due to the historical nature of the building and little quaint touches brought such an amazing feel. The rooms are a bit dark since the rooms faced out to an inner courtyard and little electricity during the day. However, the woodworking/carving happens right on the spot and there is a showroom with all of their pieces to purchase if desired. I would recommend and stay here especially for the hospitality of the owners, their receptiveness to our needs, and the historical feel of the building.

A supreme service provided by the staff, very good english spoken, good food, and centrally located

we were satisfied with this guest house. The owners of the guest house were real nice, and have excellent english speaking skills. We actually have checked out already, and they allowed us to leave our luggage for overnight and get it back the day after. Also, the guest house was centrally located, closed to Bhaktapur major attractions.

Historic gem in the centre of beautiful Bhaktapur”

          Staff, location, history

Situated on a fascinating historic square in the centre of Bhaktapur, this guesthouse more than lives up to its reputation. Whilst it might not have some of the luxuries of a full-scale hotel, staying in its 500 year old rooms give you an experience that can't be replicated anywhere else. Despite its age, the room was clean and the bed comfortable. Yes, the ceilings are low and especially the doorways but that's how they build them in 1470! Best of all, the staff are lovely and interesting to talk to with superb english skills... I highly recommend this guesthouse and will stay here again if in Bhaktapur.

          Fantastic, a memorable experience”

Traditional room, the view of the square with local festival.

We were fortunate that we stayed during a religious festival and we had a superb view of this through the rooms traditional windows overlooking the main square. The downside of this was that the room could have been noisy during the night. However the very friendly management, without us asking, offered another room for us to sleep in if the festival went on late. The traditional room, the view, and the very helpful and friendly management, makes this small hotel one of our favorites out of the many hotels we have stayed in over the years.

If there are rooms available stay here, it's a magical place run by wonderful people. Beautiful old building, great food, great location away from the busier and larger squares. Tons of charm, really can't fault anything at the Peacock Guest House.

          Very good”

Good place in Old Bhaktapur. Cafe and garden is very nice. Wood carving workshop and showroom are interesting to see. But check on booking what type of room you'll get. I prefer old-fashioned rooms in original building, compare to new rooms in new building, that is more far from the city centre.

700 years old building with exhibition of wood cravings next door. It's a wow experience. Super friendly staffs, and very good Thai noodles and breakfast too! Down side: because of the height of avg Nepalese, all doors r super low, I'm 5'3, and my forehead bumped into doors many many times....so do mind your head! Also because it's a old building, moisture seems easily trapped inside, duvets and the bed r kind of moist.... After all I still had a fantastic stay though! Absolutely love the build and ppl

          exactly what we wanted”

This guesthouse was a perfect cultural experience for us as our first night in Nepal and in Bhaktapur. They provided a driver (extra cost) to pick us up from the airport that I highly recommend as they will lead you through the intense crowd and into their safe car. Nighttime in October is fairly cold and they provide an extra blanket. The place had low ceilings which was really cool as almost all places on Bhaktapur do. Their Annex building does have higher ceilings if you need. Breakfast was amazing. They make their own jam based on fruit in-season. Each morning your fruit selection will be a bit different which is great. Excellent coffee, tea and muffins. location is perfect it's in a temple area but it's away from the busy streets. Everything is within a 15 minute walk. The family is amazing. Any questions you have they will gladly answer and give you extra info if you need it. They will help you with anything you need. They definitely made the stay much more special for us as we got to know them. If you need a guide, I would recommend Bikram as you may see him hanging out at the guesthouse. He knows the whole city and will take you wherever you need to go. Overall amazing experience. Will return for another stay next time we are in Bhaktapur.

I had a great time staying there. It's a pity we only booked one night. but just one night left us a really nice memory which can stay forever. The owner was really nice, doing us a lot of help. And I especially love the free breakfast. Their coffee is the best! anyway if one day I go back to bhaktapur I will choose this hotel without doubt! Pls keep creating good memories for the people staying there.

          Room, design, staff

Peacock Guesthouse is a very beautiful hotel with good design and decoration, antique wood carving everywhere. It is located on Datattray Square. I booked a deluxe room on the top floor with amazing view of the square. Althogh it's quite noisy in the morning, I love the stylish room, and enjoy so much viewing the local life of Bhaktapur from the window. There is a beautiful courtyard and the reception hall is a good place for drinking coffee and chatting. The owners of the hotel are very friendly. Bhaktapur is very peaceful and much less crowded than Kathmandu. I did have a very beautiful memory here. I hope to stay longer next time.

antique building and decor, location, service

I booked standard room and was upgraded to deluxe suite. The room is pretty big with nice antique decor. The whole building is beautiful standing in the middle of Bhaktapur old town. You can hear the square from the room and it's like living in ancient years for one night. Bathroom is small but shower's decently hot. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and would do whatever they can to make your stay more comfortable. Breakfast is included in room fair and it's delicious.

Little gem with a few minor hick ups”

Historical building, full of charm, local life at the square

To stay in a historical building like this cannot be beaten, a unique experience full of charm and so was our deluxe room. However, considering the high price for Nepal, a few details should be worked on. Bathroom very basic, could need an upgrade. Breakfast was pretty good with local yoghurt and homemade jam, but dry bread and 3-in-1 coffee although they have a bakery and coffee shop with really good cappuccinos... The standard room looked like a tiny shoe box, but they might all be different. And be aware, the deluxe room faces the beautiful square which is extremely interesting to watch, but noisy starting at 5.30am. A magical place indeed, but value for money is questionable.
