Lovely hotel, great price, wonderful location”

Large rooms, great location, polite staff, internet access

I would recommend pearl hotel Ryogoku for anyone visiting Tokyo for a quality and cost effective stay! I was stunned by the polite staff, and even more so with our spacious room - with 2 large twin beds, a television with plenty of channels, a sofa and a table! The ensuite was lovely and the complimentary yukata and slippers were a great touch. All things used in the ensuite were replenished everyday. It was a wonderful place to relax after a trek around Tokyo in the daytime. And such a great location in Ryogoku (directly opposite the train station), home of sumo wrestling, located on a main train line so we were close to our favourite spots in Tokyo! Just amazing , value for money, clean hotel in a perfect location. The staff were friendly and spoke good english also. There were also 2 computers with internet access, that were free to use. We also paid for breakfast which was great! Overall an amazing hotel would definately stay here again....no bad points at all!

Excellent Place”

My first trip to Tokyo was a success and i would like to thank Pearl Hotel and its staff for its excellent service. The hotel was located within a 1 min walk to Ryogoku Station and it is about 2 stops away from Akihabara! There are many amenities in the area like 24 Hr Family Mart (like your 7 Eleven) Room service was excellent, when me and my friend slept late, we received a phone call asking us if we still want room service! The beds were super comfortable. Though me & my friend shared a single room, it was spacious enough for our luggage & to sleep comfortably. My only complaint is the automatic air conditioning, we cannot control it to be warm or cold. It adjust itself based on the temperature outside the building. There is a self service washing machine and dryer. Detergent is available too. Although the hotel is located next to the Train line, the windows and walls are sound proof, so you can sleep through the morning without any worries of noise. Thank you Pearl Hotel !

Prompt Help!”

My AC broke so they promptly put me in a room two doors down on the same floor (inadvertantly with an even better view of the Sumida River and nearby bridge)! Very helpful and friendly staff. I've been staying at the Ryogoku Pearl Hotel whenever I go to Tokyo since before they built their extension. I love them for their location, the most. I also like that they still have working CAT5 jacks, although their Wifi was flawless.

Great location and value for money!”

Just 1 minute walk from JR Chuo Sobu & 4 minutes from Toei Oedo Line

This place is a must for budget conscious people without wanting to sacrifice on quality. Although, you may encounter a slight problem if and only if you are a really really light sleeper as it is located near the train station. The sound was very minimal though, I even forgot about it after a while. Request for a room further from the station perhaps? Going out was easy as the train stations near the hotel get you nearly everywhere with none or just one transfer. It's just 2 stations from Akihabara using the JR line. Getting to the hotel from the airport was easy too. I arrived at 10.30pm at Heneda International Airport, took the Monorail to Hamamatsucho, transfer to Toei Oedo Line(subway) Daimon Station and took the subway straight to Ryogoku Station approx 30 to 45min total journey. Upon reaching Ryogoku, choose the west exit, turn right go straight and right again when you see a bakery name Etoile if I'm not wrong. Go straight, along the road you'll see Family Mart on your left and Matsuya on your right. Go further and you'll see Mc Donalds ahead. The hotel is just opposite Mc Donalds on the other side of the fly over. The staff was very friendly even though they can hardly understand English. If you really need someone who communicates in English, I think she's only available in the morning till afternoon. Lotsof food stalls around in case you get hungry after coming back from all the walking and sightseeing!

Central location and easy to get around”

Very affordable and clean. Close to JR train station and Akihabara. Good restaurant to eat for breakfast downstairs.
Small rooms and bathrooms to be expected when booking rooms for low cost.

The Pearl in Ryogoku seems to be one of the most convenient hotel we have come across in our many stays at hotels in Tokyo and Japan. As soon as you step out of the train station, you see the hotel directly across the street. It's quite comforting especially during winter and after spending a day wandering outside in the cold! Having free internet downstairs was very useful and the staff were always polite and helpful. We will be coming back to this gem of a hotel in the future.

Nice location at decent cost, small rooms as usual”

Location (bang opp. JR line stn.), meat balls at breakfast

It is tough to find a hotel which is good enough from all points of view. Pearl is located by the side of Sumida river bang opposite Ryogoku JR line station, making the location one of the most convenient. Toei Oedo subway line station is also a 10min walk away. It is reasonably priced for Japan hotels and the staff is friendly who speak passable English. There is a good selection of restaurants right near the railway station and also a Pachinko (slot) corner should the urge strike. Location has another one-up being located near Edo Tokyo museum (with its nice cherry blossoms) and a major sumo wrestling stadium. You can see some of the sumo fighters at the local McDonalds. The meat balls at breakfast were simply awesome, otherwise it's pretty standard fare. I got BF included in Agoda price, which was awesome.

Great location ”

Great location

This hotel is situated right next to Ryogoku station, which made it easy for me to find. To get to Tokyo, take the JR Sobu line to Akihabara. From there, interchange to JR Keihin-Tohoku Line to get to Tokyo station. It was easy to transfer and took me roughly 15 minutes to get to Tokyo from the hotel. Some of the staff spoke English and all were very helpful even if they could hardly speak a word of English. There's a laundry area on the 3rd floor and internet access on the 1st. I wasn't bothered about the noise of the trains passing by and was able to sleep as long as I had my windows closed. I stayed in a single room alone and the size was fine for me, I was able to walk around the room even with my luggage open. Ryogoku is an interesting area, try walking down the streets around the hotel. I saw sumo wrestlers everyday during my stay at Ryogoku. There's also a few marts at the streets next to the station, which was convenient for me when i had to get some food/drink at night.

Excellent location with very good service”

Laundry room was easy to use and breakfast was very good

The front desk was able to serve English speaking travellers very well due to the staff knowing a good level of English. I had to purchase my laundry detergent at the main desk for 100 yen per package because the detergent machine in the laundry room did not work. The free wifi service was easy to set up and use in the hotel lobby. This hotel was right across the street from the JR Ryogoku station which meant easy access to other parts of Tokyo. The daily breakfast was served from 6:30 am to 10 am for a 1000 yen extra charge. Food here was varied, tasted very good and was good value for the money spent.

customer service is very good

I was surprised that the room that was given to us during our stay is much bigger than what we saw in the photo on the website. The hotel is location is very good since it is just across the JR line Ryogoku station and walking distance to Oedo Line too. The hotel area has no tourist attractions but it is very near to tourists spots. The hotel staff are very friendly. I asked for additional 3 pillows and they gave it free of charge! Around the area, you may bump into some Sumo wrestlers and ask them if you can take pictures together. It's a nice place. There are many cheap restaurants around the area too!

Very good stay!”

Close to train station, nearby reaonably priced restaurants, nearby convenience stores

Bed is perfect to lie down and rest to watch television after a day of walking around. The room is cleaned every day, and bathroom utilities (ie. toothbrushes, bath soaps) and tea is renewed everyday. Only complaint is the lighting near the bed, which is very dim and doesn't seem adjustable. Size of room is typical Japanese hotel room, so it is better to not carry very big luggage. Area is nice too, the hotel is very easy to find from Ryogoku station, which is only a 5 minute walk away. Lots of restaurants and convenience stores, so there're always resonably priced meals close by. Famous areas such as Akihabara,Asakusa,Ginza and Tsukiji are close by.

Cheap and Good Quality Hotel”

Cheap price, comfortable beds, clean rooms

I had a very pleasant experience at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room is a nice price and the rooms are basic, but comfortable. The location of the hotel is a short taxi ride away from Akihabara, which is really nice because most hotels in Akihabara are usually fully booked. So if you want to spend a weekend in Akihabara and need a cheap place to stay I would recommend Pearl Hotel in Ryogoku.

Clean, comfortable and value for money.

i have stayed at various locations in tokyo for the past 5 years an decided this is hotel is the most value-for-money for couples. for the low price, you get a small old room but sufficient with basic necessities including a bathroom. it's all clean and comfy. most importantly, you are only 2 minutes away from ryogoku jr station, just 2 stops from the main akihabara station and interchange, tokyo's famous electrical town!

Basic hotel with access to Ryogoku subway station”

Location is across the street from Ryogoku Tokugikan (sumo stadium)

Stayed here with my wife and 4 year old son. Location wise is OK due to short walk to Ryogoku station, although I would not consider Ryogoku is one of the major stations in Tokyo. You'll need to change trains a couple of times to final tourist destinations. Asakusa and Tokyo Sky Tree tower are located about 3-4 stations away, so that was a plus. Room was clean and basic with LAN access (no wi-fi). We liked the deluxe twin room with a couch, but space was still limited. Breakfast was included in the rate that we got, so it should be quite convenient for travelers with kids. Some reviewers mentioned that they can hear train noises from the street, which is somewhat true, but it was so subtle we wasn't bothered with it.

Near JR station, within walking distance to eating places and museums, reasonable prices.

The staff was quite friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to Ryogoku JR station, making it very convenient if you travel with JR railway system. Eating places are nearby and Edo Tokyo museum is within walking distance. At a reasonable price, this hotel is far from the busy hustle bustle crowded Tokyo, but still central enough to get to anywhere within Tokyo by JR or subway.

good price, clean, good location

Good price for one night, only cost me like $60. Hotel is right across the street from the station that is 2 stops from Akihabara, so you have easy access to the Yamanote line which can get you to all the major parts of Tokyo very easily. Staff is good, room is very clean. Only two issues which were not that big of a deal was that the air conditioner was a little noisy, but not that bad. Also, couldn't figure out internet. I guess you need to bring your own cable to plug into the outlit if you want internet. Room is small, but typical of Japanese hotels, especially for $50-$60 a night for one person. Nice simple hotel, clean, good location.
