Very comfortable lobby which is more like a big living room. The warm and cold dishes are very tasty and there are always drinks, snacks and fruits for reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly and helpful. One of my most pleasant stays I ever had.

Very comfortable stay at Peking Yard. The staff are very friendly, and helped me out a lot. The tour to Jinshanling and Simatai was magnificent, would recommend this walk if you had the chance. Wish wifi was in the rooms. Other than that, very happy customer :)

4-women dormitory”
Arrived midnight and with no internet connectivity, driver drop me off at the wrong side, a landmark you could quote “北京第一幼儿园”, the entrance alleyway under renovation, then will walk past some public toilets and a hotel, before seeing the red YHA signage. *Taxi is not allowed driving into the hutong alleyways* The reception area for me, not really that welcoming, according to an ex-customer there, the hostel has less flowers and green plant than before. The room has an attached bathroom & washing basin with a hairdryer, suggest to put up bed’s blind, as Nobody like to know what others roommates are doing. The rooftop garden is very sad, left with dried-leaves, but still can enjoy Beijing cold breezes. As I’m coming from a warm tropical country, Night in Beijing could be very cold, so wear more clothes otherwise it’s easy to get sick.

CASH ONLY”
Once you've booked the hostel, they send you an email with lots of information, including a good map to find the place. Because I booked it in a rush, I didn't read that it was CASH ONLY and barely had enough to pay for my room when I arrived close to midnight. A few things to consider: -Bathroom can be smelled from the hallway (two toilets in total for all the rooms) and showers are not very spacious -No wifi in the rooms -Facilities and furniture are a bit dingy and old, though clean for the most part -Excellent location close to the attractions -Lounge area is quite nice and wifi is available there -Staff are quite nice and helpful You'll know you're there when you see the Hostelling Interational light-up sign outside.

A lot of positives.......”
I was traveling with my wife and my 18 year old daughter. We got one of the Queen and Single bedrooms. For the location its a good price. There are some cheaper, and plenty that are more expensive. The greenery and plants was one of the reasons I was drawn to the property and was afraid it was just for the pictures, and thankfully it wasn't. A couple of things travelers should be aware of. They can't serve hard alcohol any more. Some government regulations, but they serve some beer. There is no wifi in the rooms. Its only available in the lobby. For some that is a deal breaker so just be aware. The lobby is one of its selling points. Six or eight couches and other seats. A long wooden table, that is good for a crowd, and a pool table that is in poor shape and should have some new felt put on it. Its comfortable and homey, with the plants and lots of books. There is a smaller TV with a dvd player attached to it as well. A small fridge for your food if you have any.

Quite neighbourhood in the city centre”
Pros - the layout of the hostel is great, very cozy - staff speaks English pretty well and approachable; gave a brief description of the area when I checked in so I get to visit one of the places I starred on my map the very night - close to subway station, 3-5min walk Cons (if you are not staying at the main courtyard..) - no wifi (quite inconvenient in this aspect) - nothing like a traditional siheyuan, just simple bunk beds and shared bathrooms

Simple accommodations, good location, great staff.”
We were happy with all aspects of our stay, except with Wi-Fi which was so slow it was non-functional. This forced us to use cell for internet connection which was quite expensive. For the amount of money it cost to stay here, the management should provide decent Wi-Fi.

Disappointed by pekin yard hostel ”
My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Peking Yard Hostel in a double room and even if the location is great within Beijing, we have been disappointed by the stay at this hostel. 1 - The staff was really cold and unorganized. We ordered 2 times coffee for the breakfast and had to wait almost 20 min because the receptionist which was in charge of pushing the coffeemaker button was too busy with her cellphone. 2 - The room was more than tiny for the price and the bathroom was literally smelling poop. No Internet in the room (only in the lobby) and it was slower than a snail. 3 - (agoda's fault) the pictures of a twin room on agoda corresponds to a double room. However at the hostel it corresponds to a room with bunk bed... We had thus to pay an extra to get a double room.

cool, unique, clean and quiet.”
I loved the atmosphere here. It's modern but eclectic and warm. The room was clean and well kept, but I forgot to bring my own toiletries, so remember to bring those with you. The staff was wonderful, especially Rico who helped us book tickets for the Forbidden City and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The food was also excellent and healthy and served in a peaceful location full of flowers and trees. I will definitely stay here again.

Good place but unpleasant staffs”
The hostel offers a nice commun area for chilling out. The location is good only 5 min walking from the subway station. However most of the staffs are not really friendly ! They seem a little bite upset every time you ask them some questions or recommendations...Well I guess we can expect from receptionist to be smiling and patient with their guests. Otherwise the room was ok not totally clean but ok. 2 over the 4 lockers were broken but they offered me another locker in the reception area which was ok for me. The travel agent for the hiking Great Wall tour is good too I advice you to go for it :)

Only free wi-fi in lobby and we only have free two bottle of water only 1 night but we stay 2 nights staff told us bottle of water for second night is not free. We just confuse what’s condition for free complimentary, common hostel/ hotel we’ll receive free bottle of water same as night of staying. Staffs were nice and help us for our queries.

did not have a good experience ”
the second I checked in the clerk asked me to put down a deposit, and tried to get me to upgrade to a solo room. tragic foreshadowing. I refused to put down a deposit since I booked online, and didn't upgrade. the bed area was ok, washrooms were kinda nasty, but I think all the Hutongs in the area have the same problems. the other tenants in my shared 10-bunk room didn't really look like traveller's...... but just my opinion. there are better options for the money.

Great location to subway and exploring hutongs. We also could walk to Jinshan Park (bit it’s a fair walk), easy to find down a little hutong street off a main road. Twin room with private bathroom was clean and big. Very quiet at night. Cons - Staff were quite moody and not very welcoming or friendly but to be honest, didn’t really need them for much. Also breakfast was very slow in coming out - we made our guide wait 30 mins ! I would stay here again - just order breakfast before getting dressed, showering etc. WiFi only in common areas FYI

The hotel is located in a charming alley and the facility is cozy. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic with no wireless but a large comfortable bed. I think the place is perfect if you are traveling around Asia and need a base in Beijing. Otherwise amenities are too few.
