    Exceptional”

I already knew what to expect staying here so enjoyed my stay! The manager was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions patiently, suggested that I take some time to go around town and take the evening bus ride instead of the morning one (helped arrange my ticket), which was a GREAT tip. He helped me arrange a motorbike to go around the area and it was so worth it to do - Kawthaung is beautiful! Lots of local life to see and amazing nature if you do your research on where to go. The mohinga for breakfast was delicious (also option for toast), the room was small but enough for a solo traveler who doesn't need much.

    Nice stay”

The hotel is 5 mins walk from the pier a few blocks up on the hill. Another 5 mins walk u will reach the temple on the hill. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The owner speaks perfect English and the next day gave me a ride to the pier for the boat trip. The room is not so big but spotlessly clean and comfortable. will definitely stay again if i go to Kawthaung. PS: if u come from Ranong, no need to pay more than 50 baht for the long tail boat ride.

    Great Stay”

The place was amazing for your first nights in Myanmar. The owner DOES speak English. As well as a women at breakfast. The rooms were great. A.C TV . Close to everything. The Market the river front, Temple. The children are incredible, know your HELLO. He even refunded my van out of town when I found a better departure time. Most travellers seem to stay here because the price is great. It was a great introduction to this incredible Country.

Calm area, where located hotel, just 5 minutes walk from main pier and heart of town. Single rooms are small and have bathroom and toilet inside, but, it's not separated by door actually. Wi-fi was warked normally. On TV was few football channels, which I like. In the room was A/C and fan. Breackfast is enogh to be not hungry.

Good budget option in Kawthaung ”

Close to waterfront 5 mins walk uphill to this main budget option in Kawthaung. Rooms are small and spartan but include basic breakfast and they can arrange trips and motorbike. Go to Nyaung oo Phee for day trip if you want the best snorkeling.

    OK”

Room was small, only a little English spoken, basic breakfast, price reasonable. One of the few places in town available to foreigners, the other options of Victoria Cliff or the casino hotel are closer to $100, so this place is the default hang out for foreigners passing through or on trips to the Mergui

Helpful staff in a basic hotel”

Everything was fine and thanks to the staff my stay was even better. They gave me a warm welcome and answered any questions I had at my first day in a new country. A map at the reception shows you the location of some restaurants, a supermarket and other points of interest. You have your own bathroom, even in the single rooms, and a big fan is attatched to the ceiling. The included breakfast consists of two toast with butter and yam, a fried egg and a coffee. Very easy to find, as the way is also marked on a map at the immigration office. There are a lot of rooms, so in general you don't have to book in advance and can just walk in. I would definitely stay here again.

    Best accommodation in town”

Right what we needed, perfect location with only few min walk from the pier/shops. Nice view from the window and the common balcony on the second floor. The cleanest room that we had in all Myanmar. We could check-in before check-in time. Lucky us, we didn't had many questions cause the stuff is not really speaking english. That's a pity, because in this location you need information if you just start your trip in myanmar.

    Low point ”

Penguin hotel was the low point of all the hotels we used in Myanmar. The bed was horrible. Cold water shower. Good A/C. Breakfast was minimal—poached egg, toast and instant coffee. Kawthoung is a dirty town that is best missed.

    Good value. Nice place.”

Pros: Easy walk to nearly everything. Staff are so kind! Breakfast included & served until 10. Cons: Bed felt like boxsprings only, without a mattress; manageable, but quite hard & uncomfortable. Small room, but met our travel needs. No water heater for shower (unnecessary in hot weather, but would have been appreciated as an option). Minimal menu options for lunch or dinner.

We entered Myanmar by boat from Ranong and this was the cheapest accommodation option. Location is great if arriving by boat because it's a short walk to the hotel from the pier. Room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was good. Staff were really nice. Can rent a motorbike for 20,000 kyat from reception.

The room is standard, has good working AC and TV with a variety of channels, English language channels, wifi access is good. The room is a bit outdated but perfectly fine for short stays. The staff is helpful, even with the language barrier. The staff helped with taxis in the morning to the airport. We ended up paying less than if we chartered one ourselves and it was a shared taxi/motorized tuk tuk.

    Kawthoung”

If you are entering or leaving Myanmar at this port then there are few options for hotels. Around 4 that we counted. Two are on the water front where it is very noisy. Penguin was alittle behind and definately quieter. It was an easy walk to the ferry and cafes. The rooms are adequate, but you need to ask for a top sheet. Staff are average in enthusiasm amd service. Not much to see or do in Kawthuong so only book for one night. Roads north of here are improving but we opted for a flight. Myeik is a dump and l would recommend you fly direct to Dawei and save yourself the polluted sea front area.
