Nice Facilities but a little out of the way”
First and foremost, it must be said that we had a great time on Maggie Island and Peppers Blue on Blue was a part of that experience. The facilities were kept immaculately and the staff were generally very nice and polite. It is extremely convenient for the ferry, but there isn't that much on in Nelly Bay. You'll either want to get comfortable with bussing it everywhere (ie. Arcadia, Horseshoe Bay or even Picnic Bay) or hiring a car/4x4/scooter to get around for the duration. The studio that we stayed in was directly above reception (with a view of the ferry terminal), and from what I could ascertain all of the studios had a ferry terminal view. Its quite loud on that side with the queue for the Fantasea car terminal right outside your balcony. If you're planning an active holiday where you're up early and out and about, then this isn't too much of an issue.
Could have been much better. Not 5 Star Experience”
The hotel was lovely. The room was wonderful. The Receptionist "Gabriella" was wonderful & helpful. The pool was huge - BUT no bathroom facilities nearby, had to walk back to the restaurant/bar or room to use bathroom. No bar/dining near the pool. Had to walk a long way to get a drink & bring it back in a throw away plastic cup. Yet no bins near the pool :s The breakfast was lovely. The dinner was also wonderful. The experience for dinner was NOT however! The Chef & Staff in the kitchen had very loud music playing eg; "The Offspring - Come Out & Play" & everyone was singing & whistling loudly. Completely over powering the lovely ambient dinning music. We asked the Matre' De to ask the kitchen to turn it down & cut out the loud whistling. She said "certainly" & went & asked. They didn't stop. It ruined our dining experience & we ended up skipping dessert & going back to the room with a take away ice cream. We had decided to splurge on a lovely meal @ Peppers Blue on Blue Resort instead of going elsewhere & were VERY disappointed with the experience..
Relaxing and very enjoyable!”
We really enjoyed our stay! Our only criticism would be that other guests and staff in particular continued to smoke cigarettes in the vicinity of our room, reception, the car park and the lift. The smell of cigarette smoke - in what is advertised to be a non-smoking establishment - permeated everything! When we stepped out of our car in the carpark, we had to wade through the thick smoke left there by staff (who had a smoking area with a table and chairs and ashtrays all set up down there) and step into the lift which also reeked of cigarettes. When we left our room feeling fresh and clean, we ended up having our hair and clothing stinking of cigarettes...very unpleasant indeed! Our neighbours were obviously smoking in their room and on their balcony - the smell drifted right into our room. When I complained to reception, they did appear to stop smoking (or perhaps they were moved?) The food was excellent, the swimming pools lovely, the views from the resort itself are terrific, though we had a view of the carpark for the ferry, with all the accompanying noise and commotion many times a day that comes with loading and unloading vehicles onto and off the ferry. The hotel was quite empty so one would think we would be given a room with a better outlook. Next time I will make sure I request a room on the other side of the hotel. Staff were attentive and quite understanding about our concerns regarding smoking. Breakfasts were very good though a little predictable. Dinner was excellent and the young staff were friendly and very professional. I have enjoyed many holidays on Magnetic Island over the years - childhood holidays at Radical Bay, many day trips when I was a JCU student in the 80's, and now we enjoy driving down from our home in Cairns to relax on the island. It's a great place and we will continue to visit and recommend it to people we know!
Peppers Blue on Blue was amazing. Right next to the ferry terminal, staff went above and beyond. The complementary breakfast was fantastic.
Loved the enormous pool!”
Climbing up 36 steps with a 20kg suitcase wasn’t fun. Neither was sitting in the bar for 4 hours waiting for the room to be available (I know, I know - this is what they advertise but I’ve never had it happen to me before). A great place to stay with my grandson & his mum - overall we had a good fun time on Magnetic Island. Sri - one of the bar/dining staff was very pleasant, helpful and good value/assistance.
Best kept secret in North Queensland ”
Magnetic Island is the best kept secret in North Queensland. And Peppers is the pick of the bunch for great holiday accommodation while there. Recommended.
" Great hotel and great location"”
The Peppers resort was beautiful the location was very good and the staff there were great. I would recommend it for a relaxing holiday and nature lovers as Magnetic Island is one of the world most beautiful places. The only thing I had an issue with is that it is too close to the ferry terminal hence there was a lot of traffic on the our door step which made it noisy and took away from the calming natural environment. House keeping need to lift their game to meet the standards guest expect at Peppers our room was dirty and we were moved twice. Also no lift access to appartments make it impossible for disable and elderly and hard to lug heavy bags up 3 fights of stairs.
Great Hotel.... great location”
Great Hotel! Friendly staff & Facilities are great too.... We loved the locality of the property also, nil transfers required :-) Would recommend to anyone travelling to Magnetic Island
Biggest pool & beautiful breakfast”
on arrival at we were early & the receptionist was very helpful with storing our bags & taking our mobile no. to call & tell us when the room was ready. at 10.30am she called & said we could go to our room. very happy with that! the pool was the biggest i've ever seen & in feb it was very quiet so most of the time we had it to ourselves! bbq facilities were great & the incl breakfast was amazing, made to order & the views!! the rooms were very well made up & spacious. if you want to treat yourself, peppers is the place to go.
Peppers Blue Resort was a great place to stay and to enjoy the beautiful view's that surrounded the hotel. There was great value for money, the location was perfect and the cleanliness was ok, the staff were great and facilities were A1.
3 good nights at Peppers Resort. Great location, very good room with part water views. Excellent breakfast. Little disappointed with dining menu which was not that extensive hence we did not eat there preferring to sample local restaurants.
DISAPPOINTING VIEW AND UNACCEPTABLE BREAKFAST”
Decided to have a night away from Townsville (Hometown) with my daughter and agreed we would "live it up" at a Resort on Magnetic Island. This is something we never do, so we were excited. My daughter's one request was to get a room with a balcony and a view so we can have a couple of drinks and relax If staying in room 2242, don't expect a view. The thriving tree outside this balcony was that big that there was literally nothing to see but it's leaves. Breakfast was included in our price but would have preferred to pay to get hot food. The food wasn't cold, but wasn't even warm. We found this on all the items we selected to eat. Maybe we should have just eaten the fruit. The choice of food was basic but good....eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoes, fruit, cereal, etc. There was a variety of breads available to toast.....but even my toast wasn't hot coming off the conveyor belt. Bed was very comfy and shower was hot.
Not 5* but still lovely. ”
This hotel is definitely not 5* as some booking sites advertise but it is still lovely, perhaps 3.5* some locals in Townsville mentioned it was 5* for the island though, so that makes sense. Can literally walk off the ferry into the hotel. Endota Spa on-site. IGA next door which is great for making a family meal in the kitchen or using the BBQ’s on site. The pool is a good temp & not ‘cold’ like some. Free movies were great, wifi was fine (despite what others have said). Best part of our visit was Deborah on reception, we mentioned that if possible as we have a 1 year old, could we be near the pool so when she sleeps, we could swim & Deb put us in a beautiful room near the pool (3br but we closed off the other doors etc) and she got us in the room straight away so we didn’t have to wait around for checkin with a grumpy toddler. Thanks so much Deb, made our holiday!
Loved that I could walk straight to the resort from the ferry and had buses, restaurants and a supermarket right at the door. Not too impressed by check in. I stood around for awhile but the staff in the side room who saw me seemed more interested in their conversation so I went for a walk to get dinner. When I came back reception gave me conflicting information, late check out is $20ph after 11 but the website says 12. I never got they call or msg she advised she would leave me re:late check out so I checked out by 10 to be safe. The view from the room on the ground floor was ok. Loved the lagoon pool, the grounds are beautifully kept and the shower was awesome! The room had handprints and marks on the glass and mirrors which was disappointing to see, but the bed was comfy and everything else was clean. The breakfast buffet was a winner, as were the two ladies serving that morning, friendly with lots of laughs and big smiles. Checkout was also easy.
The room we were assigned initially had had a fridge problem. Water damage to the carpet and it stunk like urine. So we were bumped up to an apartment which was twice the size and very relaxing, with a large bath tub. Loved the morning breakfasts which were included. The food was superb. Need transport if you want to go to some of the best restaurants on the island, or anywhere for that matter, or dine at the hotel restaurant.
Great weekend getaway”
Stayed at Peppers over Valentines Day weekend. Apartment was very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen (all the comforts of home). Breakfast included with a scrumptious selection of hot and cold. Conveniently located at ferry terminal.
Big room with large balcony”
Perfect for those who like to laze around a resort. Bar and restaurants very expensive. Need transport to go elsewhere. Magnetic Island is a lovely place and we will return for a longer stay but will probably stay elsewhere with amenities in walking distance.
Straight off the ferry you dont have to go far to fine the hotel. the hotel. ”
sistuated across the road from ferry , bustop and supermarkert. We had a great room facing the marina . Clean bbq located around the resort . Great pool area with plenty of shade if you require. Buffa breakfast a bit borning and the staff are very slow . I understand Island time but when you have to ask were your coffee is that you orderd 15min ago and your the only person in the resturant.
Room and service is fantastic! ”
Stay at peppers regularly and always have a great experience.
Adult family of 6”
Resort was 50 steps away from the ferry terminal, fantastic with bags. Our room was at the far end of the resort from the restaurant reception etc and on the 3rd floor, no elevator. This quickly took the shine out of the holiday as there were no porters to assist with the bags. Two elderly parents. The main pool was beautiful. The furnishing's in our apartment was disappointing three bedrooms, 6 x adults and two, two seater vinyl lounges, they were cheap and uncomfortable. Not enough seating for all of us, which meant for all of us to be in a group some had to sit either on the tiled floor or dinning chairs with no arms. Would I recommend others, probably not..... or ask for ground floor.
