Peppertree Lodge

We loved our 3 night stay! Everything was perfect, including the deluxe family room which worked perfectly with a queen bed and bunks. Thanks guys, we'll be back some day!

Clean, considerate, friendly ”
Clean rooms with enough space for everyone. My room did not have underbed lockers, although office did offer to hold valuables in the office if wanted. Ensuite bathroom was a bonus, but not a bother at all to use other toilets and showers. Very very impressed with this place, kitchen is always clean and very well planned put that many people can use at the same time. I would definitely stay here again if I return

Check in was great with a personal showing where the room was located. Room was clean and comfortable with everything needed. Kitchen was well equipped. Location is awesome with tons of food and drink within the same block.

Cheap, get what you pay for I guess ”
Because it’s cheap I feel you deal with a 100 year old mattress with springs sticking in your back, but it shouldn’t be the case, just because it’s cheap. Basic room (double) just a bed and wardrobe. Location is great.

The location is great as it's nearby many restaurants, convenient shops and beach. The room is cheap as well but anything else you want, you have to pay for it, like wifi and towels. The unisex bathroom is a mess and it smells of cigarette smoke. Although it clearly says the place is a no noise hostel after 10.30pm, but there is a bar right opposite and it's awfully noisy at night. I could hear every single words the people in the bar said.

No free wifi, but free kayaks, and free bikes. Really quiet and clean place, if you are looking for a party hostel, this is not your place. The owner is not very friendly, but he does an excellent job managing the place. Great hostel!

Needs a renovation”
A central hostel in Bay of Islands near the beach. Room was very spartan, and the bedsheets did not feel very fresh. This hostel could be so much better with a bit of a renovation in the rooms, but common area was fine. Wouldn't come back though.

Late booking and chosen for location”
Satisfactory for last minute booking because of location. The private double room was a good size. The dissapointment is the fact that for wifi you need to pay extra which seems unfair considering this is a hostel and most persons staying would be on a shoestring budget. Also the pillows and duvet covers need replacing because they are old and in the morning you need to remove them and return to the owner which seems strange when the price for a private room is the same as most motels at over NZD100 a night.
