A pleasant visit”
The hotel needs refurbishing. Nonetheless, the view overlooking mount Kinabalu is majestic.
The hotel a bit run down..need to make lot of improvements..I booked 4 rooms & we were given the 8th floor....nobody else stayed there..it was a bit scary..the room is very smelly..lack of maintenance. but we enjoyed the breakfast..it was really worth for the money we paid.
Can't ask much in Kundasang”
Kundasang still has potential to develop tourism, however, there isn't a single hotel that is suitable for international tourists and businessmen. The hotel is really old although fairly well kept. The carpet flooring is ripped and has a smell of an old hotel. The charlet is very basic with occasional crawling "visitors" and with no view of Mt. Kinabalu. Better to stay on the hotel side in high floors if you want any views.
The Hotel great point is the Venue as we can the Mount Kinabalu for Photographs. The Rooms needs to be upgraded for better Bed and Pillow. The Toilets amaneties needs to be upgraded for quality because the Bath Soap Gel is also not good quality. They dont provide tooth brush. The Hotel Room needs to have FAN although the weather is Cold but at night around 11PM to 2PM we can feel its a bit warm and stuffy. The Hotel should also open a Coffee Kiosk at the Lobby Corner so we can sit and relax a Hot Coffee with the Chill Weather surrounding. Thank you.
Nice view and surrounding. Staff is friendly. Massage and spa is a must thing to do here (at night time since theres nothing much you can do).. pack light if you choose to stay at the chalet as you have to pass thru a suspended bridge and stairs to get to the chalet - not easy to to tow luggage. Overall is ok
One of the best in Kundasang”
I went there last Raya holiday with my family. Pros: -The location is easy to reach, got parking spot, a lot of relaxing spot outside hotel. -I got a quite spacious room, clean room and toilet -The enviroment is very comforting for traveller. Cons: -Do they have any cons, probably not. Maybe a bit expensive for some people, but trust me, it is worth every penny. -Ok I got 1, there are no buffet style breakfast, everything is a la carte. Conclusion: My objective to kundasang is to relax with my family, and this place is it. I feel really happy during my stay. I highly recomend this place for you guys. Thanks.
- Remember to wake up early to get a clear view of Mt. Kinabalu before the cloud starting to come in, we still managed to catch ours before 8am (There is an extended viewing platform behind the grass field at ground floor). - No window grill is one big reason we kept the windows shut, but I guess everyone will keep the windows shut to stay warm, still, a safety hazard especially those travelling with children (We stayed at sixth floor). - Choice of food menu is sufficient and reasonably priced and of generous quantity. - Hair on bed sheet, but cleanliness is generally acceptable. - Perkasa hotel is a government run facilities after all, with the given quality and pricing, quite commendable and will return to stay. (may be chalet this time)
Honest Review By GS”
The Good And The Bad The Good 1. Location - Perfect location to view the Mount Kinabalu 2. Observation Deck - The deck allows perfect and comfortable non blocked view of Mount Kinabalu 3. Massage - Massage services available till 10pm. Pricey but worthwhile 4. F&B - Is acceptable but can be better 5. Price is reasonable 6. No facilities for adults or kids The Bad 1. Very old and spooky hotel. Refurbishment is definitely due 2. The rooms are old and aged 3. Shower is old and aged. Nothing nice about the room Overall It's a standard old hotel. I am not sure why they have not done any refurbishment. They should. It's a quiet place with beautiful surroundings and views. If you going to spend most of the time out and only back to the room to sleep...this is your place.
This is my second time staying in this hotel. Rather disappointing stay. not worth the money. Pros: Location and view is good Wifi with good speed Staff npolite Cons: Very old interior of room not upgraded, some furnitures broken. Our 3 seater room, no carpet extreme cold tiles. Only one plug point located further from the bed area Old Cupboards with no doors Old Hard Bed, uncomfortable to sleep Sheets were damped and smelly Bathroom shower dysfunctional, and dirty(old exterior) During our visit, satellite channels weren't working. Overall, was unhappy with the stay as they charge so much for such a poorly maintained facilities. Seriously need an upgrade on the hotels and its ancient facilities,
I will bring my family n brother n sister let then know nice place
I will be back. Everything is satisfied. Just i hope after this plug switch is nearby with bed.. Everything is ok n thanks for the high floor room in front of beautiful view mount kinabalu. And thanks for the staff receptionist. U helping me a lot to surprised my husband birthday.
Recommended hotel in Kundasang.”
Location is acceptable for us with own transportation. Hotel is old, but the hotel management managed to keep it good for our stay. Staff were friendly especially at the reception. As our stay was for one night, we just wanna have a good night sleep and it went well. The view was breathtaking especially on early morning, a million thanks to the hotel of fulfilling our request to have a room with a Mount Kinabalu view.
Used to call perkasa hotel, an icon n historical hotel in kundasang! Overall its a pleasant hotel.. food quality is good n quite reasonable for rm21/ pax for bfast, rm30/ pax for buffet dinner!!.. Definately will recommend friends to this hotel in future.
A room with a view”
It was such a memorable stay as always knowingly that the resort is situated on a hill overlooking the majestic Mount Kinabalu, hence having one of the best view points in Kundasang to enjoy the cold air watching sunrise & sunset with the mountain in full view. The not so clean room, with stained smelly carpet was a bit of a let down though. Nevertheless, it didn't spoil the experience as a whole. You should also try the challet but it's a bit of a climb, the view makes it all worth it. Food was also nice with all the fresh produce from the farms nearby. Highly recommended!
Very nice place and great view of Mount Kinabalu. Only issue was bright exit light in room above door. Take a power strip only one outlet. I forgot iPad in lobby and they immediately called us and let us know they had at desk.
Peaceful mountain holiday”
It was a very enjoyable stay for our family as this is our very first visit to South East Asia's highest mountain, Mount Kinabalu. The view of the mountain from the resort is breathtaking, especially at sunrise.
it was cold here....to the bone!!!!!!!first of all, keep fit..you have to climb a 50 over step stair to reach the chalet.and try to carry small luggage!the view is nice.restaurant is nice.spa is nice.. i like this challet
Great location and absolutely cold ”
We stayed a night there thinking that we would see the mighty peak of Mount KK. However, she was hidden behind the fogs and clouds throughout the day and only come out at night when the sky cleared. PROS The staffs are really professional and heart warming. They are very warm towards the guests, smiles whenever can and they really help you when you have any inquiries without hesitation. The bathroom/toilet provided at the lobby was clean although the water can be biting cold. My whole family were blown away from the dinner and breakfast buffet because it was THAT good! It wasn't even expensive to compare with those in the city but the quality was superb. CONS Parking spaces are limited. The chalet bathroom heater sometimes work and sometimes not. Don't be surprise when you walk into the chalet and found not much amenities were provided because it was a really simple two bedded and one bathroom kinda chalet. Other than the main restaurant, there isn't any other cafes available in the hotel itself. CONCLUSIONS We are all very happy with our trip there. The most memorable would be the food. We felt right at home despite the biting cold. We would wish that they will do some maintenance of the bathroom in the chalets or at least provide more space to put our things.
Hotel with Magnificient Mountain View”
despite a little run down the hotel offered a very comfortable, quiet and unique stay as the relatively high altitude provided a temperate-like climate and magnificent views of mountain (mount kinabalu) and vegetable farms of the kundasang valley. the hotel park area is lushed with flower plants and facilitated with seats for viewing, relaxing and reading.
You can not resist the view”
we stay at one of the chalet with a perfect view of the mountain. it is definitely a better view than from the hotel rooms in the resort. the staff were very helpful and assisted us in many ways. the location of the chalet is excellent but as the utilisation rate of these chalets were also high, some worn down parts were noticable. for us our objective is the view of the mountain therefore no complaint.
