A lovely retreat in the heart of Ubud”
Pertiwi Resorts and Spa is a lovely retreat place to balance the inner peace and the slight tendency to enjoy the good things in life. It's located in the heart of Monkey Forest Road. The hotel has 2 entrances, from the Monkey Forest Road and the Bisma Road (to access the resort's newer hotel rooms and the villas). It's close to the stunning boutiques in Ubud, the famous Cafe Wayan and the uplifting Laughing Budha Bar. The resort has well-groomed gardens with plenty of frangipanis seemed like forming the arches. There are plenty of statues in the garden and each one of the statue always has a frangipani flower on its ear. Truly a lovely touch. :-) I experienced a quite slow check-in despite low check-in activity that may be due to that particular receptionist staff was quite old. The rest of the staffs were very attentive and efficient. They helped me rent a motorcycle to tour around Ubud despite I am not having a motorcycle license that limits my chance to rent a motorcycle from the vendor outside of the hotel. The Superior room I was staying in is comfortable and large. It has a nice view to the garden and towering landscape towards Jalan Bisma. It has a nice balcony to share with the room next door and a wooden divider to keep the privacy. The room has glassed windows on the right or left side and the wooden-carved window and door to access the balcony. The bath room is quite large with a normal size tub serving as a shower area. The hot and cold shower is quite old and consequently, it sprays water wildly. The toiletries are nicely fragranced. The breakfast is served individually at the restaurant located in front of the hotel. There are international and Indonesian menu. The international menu has a few choices of breads and egg servings. The Indonesian menu has either fried rice or noodle. All of the menus are accompanied by fresh cut fruits, coffee, tea and Balinese pancake.
Exceeded expectations - pleased with our choice”
Was very pleased with our choice of Hotel in Ubud. Would certainly recommend to friends and select Pertiwi Resorts and Spa again ourselves if we return to Bali. Was very Central to many establishments we visited. Friendship and service was excellent. Rooms were very clean and serviced promptly daily. Reasonably priced. Our party of four loved our stay at Pertiwi. No hassles booking through Agoda.
Charming Resort in the heart of Ubud”
the pertiwi resort and spa is one of the prettiest hotels in bali. we loved everything about our stay. the staff was polite and helpful-arranging drivers and tickets to local dance performances. we had a superior deluxe which was newly renovated. the soaps, towels and toiletries were luxury spa quality. breakfast was fresh and delicious. everyone should have the opportunity to visit such a serene and picture perfect balinese resort. the nicest thing is that pertiwi has a small family business feel as compared to large 5 star resorts; but don't let the star rating fool you, pertiwi is 5 star all the way. even had great wifi!
Excellent location in central Ubud!”
We stayed at Pertiwi during Nyepi (Hindu new year in Bali) and the lock down was totally relaxing and fine. The location was super close to the action on Nyepi eve with the agoh agoh ceremony held just up the road at the soccer field. It was fantastic to be able to experience such a unique Balinese cultural experience and then to be able to walk five minutes and escape the crowds and noise with our child. The breakfasts were memorable, several courses laid on it was honestly hard not to over indulge! The private pool villas were really lovely, though located on the other side of a steep valley. There is a golf buggy available to get you to and from your room still, people with mobility issues should be aware. We took our breakfast at the rear of the resort which overlooked rural Bali and was really serene. The staff there were really excellent and took great care of us. The front of the resort was in direct locality to some of our favorite shops and restaurants like Café Havana. It was a lovely time in Ubud and I would stay at Pertiwi again!
Great Resort in a Wonderful Location!”
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Pertiwi Resort and Spa. We had the resort pick us up at the airport when we landed. It cost a little more than a taxi, but totally worth the money not having to wait in the taxi line for an hour or more! When we arrived at the resort we took the transport car to our nice room in the back of the resort. It was very quiet area and a little hilly, but good exercise. All around the resort are many restaurants, shops, the market, attractions to see like the monkey forest and temples, and many places to get a massage. The only problem was the last night half our outlets in the room didn't work. The maintenance man worked hard to fix the problem, but it had to do with the underground wiring. No big deal. The breakfast was also good. Very simple with breads, rice, eggs, bacon, sausage, juice, and some local cuisine. My wife and I had a wonderful time at this resort and would go back again anytime :)
Don't go past PERTIWI ”
PERTIWI is a very large property has 2 pools and fantastic landscaped gardens, yes some rooms are on the hillside but this is not an issue, the Super Deluxe Rooms are quite old but comfortable for the extra $13 bucks a night stay in a Deluxe Suite great Suites!!!. The Breakfast each day was good your own fresh Eggs cooked to your liking and plenty of other hot Indonesian food to choose from, Cereals, Fruit, Yogurt, Toast, Pastries to name some of them. Great Cocktails by the Pools or sitting out the front of the Greenhouse Restaurant. If you book and stay at the PERTIWI you won't be disappointed. If you find anything wrong when you arrive ask to speak to EDI he is a mover and shaker, Front Office Manager he will fix any issue straight away. Thank you EDI. I hope this review helps you book your accommodation in Paradise UBUD Bali.
My stay at the Pertiwi was very enjoyable. The location is central to everything you need and is a great base for exploring Ubud and surrounds. I stayed in a Super Deluxe Room which is the basic standard room within the hotel. These rooms are due for refurbishment but my room was clean, comfortable and had everything I required. The room attendants were efficient and often left towel decorations on my bed in the shape of elephants and swans – lovely touch ! Any issues I had were quickly rectified by the hotel management. My room was located close to reception - contrary to other reviews I did not experience any street noise. The Hotel Manager Edi introduced himself to me early in my stay and was often seen in the breakfast area keeping in touch with hotel guests. All staff were welcoming, professional and eager to assist. My original booking was for 3 weeks which is a long stay by Ubud standards. I was enjoying myself so much, I extended a further week. Even though I had any number of hotel choices nearby, I decided to remain at the Pertiwi and would definitely stay again. There are also Deluxe Suite rooms which have more Balinese décor or Villas available should you want more space. The gardens provide a peaceful surround.
Great location, comfy rooms, don't use the spa tho”
This is our 5th or 6th stay at Pertiwi. The location is the best in Ubud. Try it and you'll see what I mean! This time we were excited to see that the old style shabby rooms are being replaced with new ones which are generally very comfy and contain a good amount of necessities. Staff are extremely attentive and friendly, breakfast is not varied but very well cooked and yummy, two pools are enough even when the hotel is packed, the grounds are absolutely stunning and the beds are always very comfy so you're guaranteed a good night sleep. On the negative side - spa services are a joke, traditional massage for $25 is worse than the one you'd get on a street; spa is shabby (not even disposable underwear offered), masseur inattentive and doesn't feel that professional and overall feel is that you're not supposed to be there:) so do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Yet, the accommodation side is great and we will stay here again.
Beyond excellent stay at Pertiwi”
Travelled in a small group and stayed 4 nights at Pertiwi. The location is excellent on a busy road full of shops and restaurants in waking distance of both ubud palace and the monkey forest. The resort itself is large and very hilly- I was walking on a crutch after an injury and was unable to walk to the rooms due to the steep hills. However, the staff were excellent, using a golf buggy to take me to and from the room, to the pool and entrance. After one night they moved our room close to the entrance were the ground was flatter, to make our stay easier. Staff were brilliant and did everything they could to accommodate us, including organising our travel on to the Gili Islands. In general all staff were really friendly and helpful. The grounds of the resort were beautiful and well maintained. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again!
Lovely hotel, huge room, huge garden”
We were really satisfied with our stay in Pertiwi Resorts and Spa. We got a huge room with a beautiful balcony to the river, large enough to practice yoga on. The garden is spacious and there is a beautiful pool further away from the road. Once inside the grounds you dont hear anything from the busy shopping road outside. But everything very accessible. The breakfast was delicious, service excellent. We would love to stay here again!
Lovely hotel and service with a smile, indeed.”
Again I liked my stay at Pertiwi/Ubud. Not only because of the great location, so right in the center of town, and not only because of the so nicely maintained and landscaped gardens - how peaceful - but I appreciated especially the friendliness of the staff. Service with a smile. The rooms well kept. The breakfast a delight to start the day. On Saturday and Sunday there was a breakfast-buffet because there arrived a big group. Even better. Conclusion : when you visit Ubud and want to stay there some days - what I recommend every traveler to Bali - try it out. You will not regret!
In the heart of Ubud but feels off the beaten path”
The grounds are lush and well kept. Swimming pools and fountains galore. Really feels like Bali. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Not the most modern, though we had a flat screen and safe that worked. Our room also had a cool balcony. The staff was very friendly and the free breakfast had a good selection from fruits and cereals to eggs/rice/bacon. Despite the feeling that you are tucked away in a magical garden you are in the heart of Ubud and walking distance to everything. That's the best part about pertiwi, the balance of location and seclusion.
Great Location, Lovely Pool and Gardens”
We enjoyed our stay at Pertiwi. We had first Delux bungalow next to pool at the front of the resort. It was a good location and preferred this as it was easy in and out of resort, no problems with road noise at all. We also had a room upstairs which was more private. The location of hotel doesn't get better. Your are right in the middle of Monkey forest Road where all the restaurants and spas are. The room was big and roomy with big bathroom and a big balcony. It looked rather basic for a deluxe room but the size and location made up for that. The price was good. The resort has a lovely infinity pool and lovely gardens. There was another pool down the back of the resort but we only used the front pool next to the restaurant. The breakfast was included and was a good selection of western and Indonesian. Occasionally breakfast was a la cart when the numbers were down. TIP: Go to the restaurant at Komeneka which is almost next door to the right as you exit the resort. Beautiful restaurant and great meal for a reasonable price especially for the quality. It is in a modern accommodation building and fairly new.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. ”
pertiwi in ubud is a beautiful, well designed hotel with really lovely and helpful staff. i arrived at the airport at midnight and after looking for my transfer to the hotel (which is outsourced mine didn't show up, but my friend's, who arrived earlier, did show up) i went to the taxi window and got a taxi. the taxi driver was in a big rush and "dumped and ran", so i was left to find the hotel reception on my own. after wondering through the empty restaurant, i tried another raised area and a very friendly man came down from nowhere, knew who i was and showed me to my room at 2 in the morning. after settling in, i found pertiwi to be absolutely delightful. it's in the middle of ubud, the rooms are located away from the hustle and bustle of the street. the daily breakfast is great and staff were always friendly and welcoming. when it came to check-out, i had to inform the hotel that my airport transfer did not show up. they were very upset about this and asked me to tell them earlier next time, to make a complaint when i arrived at the hotel. they seemed to take it very personally that the transfer did not show up! moral to the story, if you arrive at 2am and your pre-booked, airport transfer didn't show, make sure you complain! or at least do it first thing in the morning. if i had to complain about something. the shower/bath is a bit dark. otherwise, the hotel accommodation is spacious, welcoming and very comfortable. actually, the beds were amazingly comfortable.
Great central location and beautiful gardens ”
We thorougly enjoyed our stay at Pertiwi Resort and Spa. The staff at the reception were wonderful, great advise given and we were booked on a number of excellent day trips. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the place was nice and quiet. The massage was exceptional and in very relaxing, secluded surrounds. The restaurant was also great and provided us with lovely food and service.
Great location to explore Ubud and beautiful hotel”
Great stay at Pertiwi resort. It was fun to explore both the area around Ubud as well as the sprawling grounds around the hotel. The only slight downfall was the moldy shower curtain and the low powered AC which barely cooled our room. Otherwise the stay was great and we would recommend it to anyone!
Very comfortable, great location”
We really enjoyed Pertiwi, we had booked the Superior Villa with pool, I didn't like the pool setting at villa number 402, it was a few steep steps below the balcony - no problem, the next day we were given a couple other options and moved to villa 412 which we loved. The bedroom and bathroom were both spacious, we had paid for an extra bed, a little small for a 6ft bloke but not too bad. There were lots of mosquitos but hotel gave us spray and a machine with mats. The little 5 x 3 pool was perfect for a quick dip. Gardens are gorgeous, the resort is set between the busy Monkey Forest Road and quieter Jalan Bisma so lots of options for spas and restaurants. Breakfast at Pertiwi was inconsistent, some days there were no plates, glasses, buffet food was cold and others it was great. YOu can order omelettes from the kitchen which were tasty. There's lots of places to eat, taxis available outside, we loved Pertiwi and will go back. The Deluxe rooms are at the front of the resort neat Monkey Forest Rd and a great budget option but the villas are awesome :)
Nice and quiet”
One thing I like about this hotel is the staff friendliness. Usually in Bali, Indonesians are not treated as special when compared to foreign tourists. But not at this hotel. I think the staff were all nice and friendly to me as an Indonesian. The room was also nice and spacious. Although I was there for 2 nights only, and spent most of my time around Ubud, I enjoyed my stay at Pertiwi.
Lovely and pleasant stay”
Pertiwi Resorts and Spa is a great place to stay in Ubud, just grab a taxi or a nice long walk around and you can get to the Palace, Naughty Nuri, Dirty Duck in no time. The staff are great and friendly, and acceded to our requests promptly. Breakfast buffet, although not a wide spread, was still very delicious with servings of western favourites (cereal, bread, toast, bacon) and asian delights (noodles, vegetables etc). The room we were allocated to had an amazingly comfy bed. Balcony was airy and even though we didn't have a super awesome view of any rice fields, a view of the greenery around is good enough. The only gripe me and my friend had was that the toilet had a weird funky sewage smell. And the staff couldn't do much to rectify it, much less have any air freshener to help clear the air. Also, our toilet bowl was leaking and water seeped its way around the entrance. Not a nice experience but we had to make do. However, it is still a great place to stay in so do consider staying here (maybe opt for the family villas instead).
We love Pertiwi, we always stay in a private villa with our own pool. This is an old hotel, and has some of the most beautiful grounds in Ubud, the rooms do look a little tired, but that's not an issue for us because everything else, pool, staff, location, breakfast, grounds is just so good. The bed is super comfortable, the aircon is great, good mosq. nets. If you want ultra modern luxury with pristine rooms, go for the smaller hotel style rooms not the pool villa, but if you do, you'll be missing out !
