Pros: great location, walking distance to the main historic sites like acropolis, acropolis museum, temple of zeus and more. Close to shopping districts, cafe and restaurants. Clean and friendly staffs. Cons: room is small, shower corner is very small, struggle to find place to put 2 big open luggages, noisy all the time from 9am to 12am.
Great location but wouldn't do it again”
Pros: - Location, you can see the Acropolis from the hotel - Safe location - Lots of restaurants, souvenirs around you AKA tourist trap - Cheap, but not good value - Friendly staff Cons: - Tiny shower, curtain will stick to you. I am slim person and I couldn't bend my knees up to wash my feet/bend down to wash my feet without touching the curtain - Hair dryers upon request stored in moldy smelling room. The one I borrowed blew out mold air, it was nasty. - Tiny room - Hard (different from firm) beds - My room had tiny gnat like flies in the bathroom! Out of the 7 hotels ($30 - $70 per night, most were $40-50/night) I stayed at, this was the dirtiest hotel (flies and mold) and second worst for comfort of bed and shower. I stayed at Monk Suites in Athens, also in a good location (Monastiraki) and it was much cleaner, bed was actually one of the most comfortable and the shower heads was better and no curtain to cling to you although the bathroom floor will get wet.
+ Great location, 100 mts of Acropolis, bars, shopping and restaurants just right in front of door - too small shower box..... if you are little bit overweight it is almost impossible to have a shower without washing your head together....
Great Position ”
We were only here for 1 night , from the time we walked in the person at the front desk completely forgot about us and kept on talking on the phone, not a good start. Was given our key and sent on our way.The room was extremely small,as was the bathroom ( a Japanese room is bigger and that is saying something). No fridge and old very small tv, could do with an upgrade. There is a beautiful view from the roof top, sadly, it isn't utilised at all. Would have been great to have a cold wine and nibbles while taking in the AWSOME view. Shopping just at the door which is good for a last minute shop in the Plaka.Staff did not communicate with us at all not even when we were leaving. (My husband is Greek so there's no language barrier) Good location but very expensive for what you get.
Location and value”
Ensure you confirm what you are getting with your booking. Bathrooms are not ensuite. location and value wise its very good
Internet is not working on 2nd floor”
Internet is not working on the 2nd floor, but the location is really good
Very helpful staff
There are better choices”
You can get a better hotel for the same price. The hotel failed in two things which are important for us: inadequate heat & hot water. The hot water ran out in the midst of the shower for the second person. It was not an instant water heater. The shower stream was very weak. Also, every morning, a bell rang at 0700 or 0730 just outside the hotel. I was told that it was a church bell. Unlike the usual bell, this one was high pitched and fast beating. The location is great. However we realized that the whole old town area was compact. It would be just as easy to visit the various sites if we stayed in Monastiraki or Syntagma. In fact staying in Syntagma (many hotels south and west of the square) makes Metro transfer unnecessary in most cases. We moved to another hotel on Niki (Nikis) street after 2 nights for the same price. It was much more comfortable and we had a great view of the Acropolis. We were in Athens in the winter. It is possible that heat & hot water are not that important in warm weather.
Basic hotel - a place to sleep and shower”
The room is simple and clean. Location is really good, close to the south entrance of Acropolis, many restaurants nearby, and just 5-min away from the subway. The only thing that I cannot stand is the noise - noise from the air-conditioning and from the other rooms. I guess I was just unlucky to get a room with a noisy air-conditioning....
Near to every-things, shopping araond, god wiev.”
Fine, mutch to do.
I chose this hotel simply because of the location and it was resonably priced. It is in the Plaka or old part of town near the Acropolis and other attractions. It meant I could walk to many restaurants and sites and not worry about catching a train or a bus. From the tiny balcony you can see the acropolis. The room design was odd and the bathroom was acroos the hallway. But not all rooms are the same. If you just want a basic hotel in a great location this is a good choice.
Very good location and easy to find.”
Very well located and friendly staff--room was very comfortable and roomy.
We had a great stay. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The shower was hot and the heat worked well in the winter. The location was within walking distance to all the major tourist attractions. The metro was a five minute walk. Lots of food around the area. Great budget hotel.
Tolles Hotel, sehr zentral. Besser geht nicht. ”
Kommen gerne wieder
