Paradise on earth”

Beach, Beach, Food

The Outrigger has the best beach on the entire island. We had such a great time that we extended our stay at the resort. We had a garden bungalow: comfy beds, big bathrooms, large balconies (great for sipping cocktails & dining on). Here's our review: Pros: - Great Beach: Crystal clear waters, where you can snorkel, canoe or just cuddle:-) Likewise, using the pool & jacuzzi was so much fun, with a awesome pool bar to top it off. - Access to Phi Phi Village: Check out Buffalo Head Bar & Red Tuna for fresh seafood, traditional Thai delicacies & delicious cocktails. All the restaurants there come highly rated, the villagers are friendly, eager to please & offer impeccable service. - Heavenly Spa: We booked a couples treatment, with a milk spa, body scrub, massage & facial. It was so relaxing that we drifted off to sleep multiple times. The ladies worked their magic & had us hooked. We looked & felt refreshed afterwards. It's definitely a MUST! - Efficient House Keeping - They did a fantastic job. We always had a gorgeously represented bungalow. Small details like flowers on the bed, fresh fruit & an air-con'd room was also much appreciated. Cons: - Once guests get to Tonsai Bay, they have to pay an additional 200 baht to get to Loh Ba Gao where the Outrigger is located. No reason why the resort doesn't offer free shuttle services given the amount of money we're paying for accommodation. - The resort had signs to Tonsai Bay, The View & Loh Lana Bay but none of these walking treks were developed. We tried to walk to Tonsai Bay(about 1hour hike) but the paths we found were overrun with grass, shrubs & rubbish. Likewise, "The View", a 40min walk uphill was like trekking through the jungle. Loh Lana Bay, on the other side of the resort, had garbage scattered everywhere on the beach. The villagers said that passing boats usually threw their rubbish overboard, bringing it onto shore with the tides. Such a pity because it’s a beautiful area.

Gorgeous facility, secluded location, great views”

Service, cleanliness/amenities, and the pool

We really enjoyed our stay at the Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort (formerly Outrigger Phi Phi) - the rooms were beautiful and clean, the bathroom/shower were fantastic, the staff extremely friendly, and the resort truly beautiful right along the beach. This place truly is a resort and if you stay you could spend your entire trip there if you preferred. The food is very good for being an island off of the coast of Thailand (not a typical cuisine-directed destination) with a surprising amount of variety between the locations. The biggest frustration for us during our travel was the difficulty in accessing the main town area (Tonsai / Loh Dalum Bays) from the hotel. It takes about ~30-40 minutes by long-tail or 20-25 minutes by speedboat to transfer between the two. The hotel does run one shuttle in the morning ~10am (if I remember correctly), that returns ~3pm; however, the rest of the access is on your own. While this is a benefit because the resort is far removed from the crazy/party/noise associated with the rowdy backpacker festivities on the main beaches, there is a negative in the inability to access that scene if so desired. The true way to describe this place is "secluded" - so make sure that's what you want before you book! Either way the resort will blow you away, but location is definitely an important factor when selecting a place to stay while on Koh Phi Phi - Stayed July 2015

Great location and magnificent well kept grounds”

Large and very well maintained grounds, huge pool, village a 5 minute walk away, walking distance to LanahBay, a sheltered and more secluded beach. Newly built delux rooms that are very comfortable with simple but nice decor.

we arrived at phi phi after having spent a week between bangkok and koh samui. outrigger phi phi village resort met all our expectations and more and was the perfect way to finish our thailand holiday. having booked two superior rooms we were lucky to be upgraded to a hill side bungalow which was just superb and travelling with our three boys gave as space, our own pool and not to mention an amazing view. whilst we did eat in the resort we also ate at the village. having the village at the back door gave us an opportuntiy to meet and talk with thai people living in their own village and eat somewhere different other than the hotel. there are small shopfronts that organise tours and scuba diving as well as a small mini mart selling basics, not to mention beer ,drinks and ice creams. beyond the village is lanah bay. i don't doubt that some people who stay in the resort don't make the 10 minute walk to lanah bay. during our stay it was protected from the on shore winds that the resort beach was experincing and was reasonably secluded - although nothing in phi phi is secluded any more there were minimal tourists on the beach and we enjoyed a number of afternoons lazing in the water with a beer bought from the locals who have set up a stall at the end of the beach. with three active boys they used the tennis court at the resort daily and also did three scuaba dives. whilst we didn't use the pool that much the pool is spotless and large enough to not make you feel you are on top of everybody else with plenty of chairs for everybody. this felt like a very relaxing area with great views of the beach and sea as well as nearby islands. the rooms were very well serviced and the grounds impeccable. the tailboat ride from tonsai bay to the resort is an adventure when there is a sea swell and the changing tides also make it interesting - but isn't that what it is all about experiencing something different!

A very relaxing stay - great customer service...”

Pool, Beach, Chilled out atmosphere...

The Phi Phi Island Village was our second hotel on Phi Phi. After staying at the utterly dreadful Cabana hotel in Tonsai Bay, The Phi Phi Island Village Resort was truly a breath of fresh air. We took the long-tail transfer from Tonsai at a cost of 400 Baht and had a rather rough and wet journey around the island. We were warmly greeted by the hotel staff on the beach with a refreshing face towel and shown to a seating area to complete check in. I knew from this moment on that we had made the right choice with this resort. We were dealt with by Randy who is a credit to the hotel. He is very friendly and extremely efficient and completed our paperwork very quickly. We were also offered very delicious mocktails to sip whilst we waited. We had arrived at around 12:00pm and I was a bit annoyed when I was told our rooms wouldn’t be ready until 01:30pm. All I wanted to do was get a shower as we were both covered in salt spray from the boat trip. In the end however we only waited an hour or so and I took advantage of the free 5 minute massage which actually turned out to be more like 10 minutes. We found the ambience of the resort to be very relaxing and we were really able to unwind during our stay. The beach is really beautiful and clean and quite large and the pool area is very nicely done with an adjoining beach bar which also serves food. There is a spa and gym as well as tennis courts. You can also rent movies from the front desk if you fancy a night in although we found the selection a bit old and limited. There is internet available for free at this resort in the main lobby area but not in the rooms. The customer service at this resort is really excellent from the front desk team right down to the housekeeping staff. Every single member of staff was always polite and friendly and never failed to say Sawadsea Kaa every time you met them. We really felt very happy to stay here and were sorry to have to leave. Hope to return next year for a longer period!

A SPECIAL PLACE”

Everything about this resort exceeded our expectations.
Absolutely nothing to criticise, except that the fabulous evening buffets encourage you to eat too much.

Our four nights at Phi Phi Island Village Resort were a delight. Our bungalow, immaculately clean, comfortably furnished and efficiently serviced, was situated towards the rear of the resort but still only a short walk along paved pathways through manicured gardens (we even saw a gardening lady knocking dead leaves from a frangipani tree with her rake handle before they had a chance to fall to the ground) to the beautiful wide, clean beach. Despite the overcast skies, the water was clear and blue (although only swimmable at high to mid tide). The house reef is great for snorkelling, but it is around the point in both directions and it is advisable to hire a kayak, drift with the gentle current and paddle back. The open air restaurant is right on the beach and the food, in the form of a themed buffet - seafood, Thai cuisine, Italian - different every night, is magnificent. Breakfast is equally expansive with veges, salads, traditional bacon and eggs, cereals and a dozen different types of breads for your toast. Don't miss the lime and papaya and the mango jams! And the huge selection of tropical fruits were amazing. The attention to detail by the staff, from the cold towellettes at check-in to the delegation waving goodbye as we left their shores, and all of the polite, friendly and attentive service, and wide smiles every minute of our stay made us feel like staying forever. Some special moments were provided with dinner by traditional Thai dancing in full costume and a remarkable display of juggling with wine bottles by the resident Bar Manager. On request, the restaurant will set up a private table for a small group on the sand, complete, naturally, with a display of table decoration and candles befitting a royal guest. We went to Phi Phi Island for an active holiday and found plenty to do while others chose to rest in the deck chairs on the beach. We spent most of time in the 29 degree water, swimming, snokelling and paddling. We also did some exploring.

Rooms, Beaches and Food

The best hotel in Phi Phi Island!!! Everything is TOP!! Room modern and clean, spacious bathroom, a lot of privacy, everything is romantic in that hotel, pool the best I swam in Thailand, beachfront with a breathtaking view, the beach is so clean and clear, The staff is very much prepared and cordial! Many options of food and restaurants. The only downside is that if you want to go to the Phi Phi Island centre, where all the clubs, restaurants and shops are, you'll have to take a boat and pay no less than 500bht/pax. The best tip: if you get annoyed of the restaurants or want to buy cheaper tours, walk 10 minutes outside of the hotel and you'll find a village with many options. Unfortunately, me and my wife realized that only at the half of our stay. But it's ok, no biiig deal!! If you want a top hotel, top food, top staff, privacy and romance, this is the right place in Phi Phi Island!!!

Heaven on Earth”

Superior operations logistics, Fabulous food, Amazing beach and pool

The entire experience of staying at Phi Phi Island Resort was unmatched. I would categorize the positive experience in the following ways: 1. Streamlined operations - I have to say I was a bit nervous when I landed in Phuket that there would be no one from the resort to pick us up. However, I was terribly wrong. As soon as we walked out of baggage claim, a very nice greeter from the hotel had our names on a sign and checked us in. We were escorted to a mini van with waters to take us to the ferry dock. We landed in Phuket at 1:30pm but the ferry wasn't supposed to depart for the hotel until 4:30pm. The hotel staff took our luggage in safe keeping in their office and dropped us off at a seaside marina restaurant where we relaxed and had beers for a few hours. The staff checked in with us to keep us updated on when the other couple was going to arrive. As soon as they did, we were wisked away by a small speed boat to the resort. 2. Friendliness of Staff - Check in was super quick and enjoyable. Staff greeted us on the beach with cold towels. We then had drinks in the reception before being escorted to our bungaloo. 3. Food - We only ate breakfast and a few lunches at the hotel by the poolside. Breakfast was part of our room rate and absolutely amazing. Large selection of Asian and Western foods, hot and cold. Food changed every single day. Never got tired of the selection. Lunch was also fantastic and not too expensive. $150-$250 per plate. The restaurant by the pool serves both Western and Thai food. Both were great. Try the prawn spring rolls and the chicken and rice special. So delish! Also can't go wrong with a $90 baht coconut! 3. Water - I have been all around Thailand to all the beaches and Phi Phi is by far the best, most clearest water out of all of them. The location of the resort is why the water was so clear. It's isolated up North on the island with lots of fish to see by the beach. If crystal turquoise water is what you are looking for, stay at thi

The best rsort we have ever stayed at!”

Great service, great spa, great pool, great location! This is paradise!

phi phi island village besch resort and spa is the best resort we hav ever stayed at - by far! uppon arrival we were greeted by smiling staff and cool drinks. in a matter of minutes we upgraded to a pool villa on the hillside of the resort, and what an upgrade it was! perfect view of the 800 meter beautifull beach while swimming in our own private pool. the service is of very high standard and the staff is always smiling and helpfull. the restaurants in the resorts are quite pricy, but you get what you pay for. the "ruen thai" is the best resturant on the resort with great thai cuisine served in a reat location overlooking the resort. its har to find anyting nagative to say about this resort, except for the same problem that every resort in thailand has - dreadfull 80`s and 90`s coverband playing every night at the buffet. luckily you can avoid it by simply going to another restaurant. behind the resort there is a small village with decent priced restaurants and a couple of shops who sell water, beer, snacks etc. you can also get cheep longtaliboat and speeboat - trips there. you`ll find the village at the end of the road rigth between the merlin restaurant and the dolphin restaurant. we stayed at the resort for a week and did it all -the restaurants (ruen thai being the best, and coconut grill serving the best australian tenderloin), the roomservice, the spa and even the ground nurse. our every request was handled in the best kind of way and we can not be more happy wit our stay. i would like to recomend this resort to everyone who wants a taste of paradise! but - if you come to party, this is not the place. the heavy drinking and fullmoon parties is located in ton sai bay, a 20 min boatride fom the resort.

Highlight of our trip”

Beautiful property, huge pool, long strip of beach, clear water, nice break from phuket and the main pier.
Huge property, it was a long walk to the pool. 200 baht charge to go 100 meters from the ferry to the hotel. Not a big deal, but annoying. The food was average. The BBQ on the beach was average. The Thai fusion restaurant was very good.

The stay at Phi Phi Island Village was the highlight of our trip. If you stay at Patong Beach and are being hounded to buy shirts, suits, cab rides, tuk tuk rides and whatever else is available, Phi Phi Island Village is the perfect place to get away. The property is spectacular and I wish we would have stayed one more night. If you plan to take any day trips, leave yourself one more day to enjoy at the hotel. The beach was almost empty and a great place to relax. It is definitely worth the price to stay here instead of the main pier. The food was average but it wasn't much better in Patong Beach. Overall, a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone thinking about staying in Phuket or Phi Phi Island.

Phi Phi Resort”

Everything - beach, rooms, service, pool
far from village

We loved our stay at Phi Phi Island Village resort. We stayed in a hillside villa with a private pool. The rooms were beautiful, clean and large. 2 full bathrooms. We had full privacy on our large deck and pool area. They treated us like special guests since we were in the villa. We had a huge breakfast delivered everyday and rides on the golf carts to take us around the resort. The beach and pool area are breathtaking and the restaurants are very good. The spa was wonderful, but a bit pricey compared to other spa services in Thailand. The snorkling off the beach is great - you can swim right out and snorkel right in front of the hotel. They also offer a recreation center which rents equipment and organizes boat tours and day trips. Our entire stay was wonderful and we can't wait to come back to Phi Phi Island Village!!

What a place - heaven on earth”

Amazing location, fanstastic villas on stilts, amazing food and cocktails, lovely staff

We stayed 4 nights, we took a non-hotel appointedd longtail boat from the main jetty in Phi Phi to the hotel (this takes 30 minutes and we paid too much, this should be about check in was very relaxing and done sitting down sipping cocktails! Our villa was amazing, just a standard villa but with it's own deck out front, a large double bed, desk area and a large shower area. The hotel grounds are spacious and very very well kept - beautiful greenery, manicured lawns, amazing flora and fauna (a lot of it labeled so you can read about the plant or tree you're admiring). There are Butterflies everywhere. The hotel pool area is lovely, it even has a small water slide for the yound at heart! Dinner at the Marlin restuarant was absolutely fantastic - we tried various things including lots of the Thai dishes which were superb. We also had steaks one evening at the Grill restaraunt which were cooked perfectly and very tasty (although not cheap compared to usual Thai prices). We took a boat trip organised by the hotel - 5 of us on their massive boat - this was awesome and included diving off the top deck in the amazing Lagoon on Phi Phi Ley, a trip to Maya Bay (where they filmed the movie 'The Beach'), lunch on a deserted beach and amazing snorkling (we found Nimo!). The only down side was the hotels long private beach - the sea water here is not as clear as the rest of the island as their is a river here which bring silt and mud down from the mountaints. Also the large tidal movement means at low tide you have to walk through the sand/mud to get to the water. We spent all our time at the pool which was lovely and sea swimming/beaches on the boat trip more than made up for the beach at the hotel!

Very fantastic hotel for a very good price ”

pool, villa and food

From Krabi airport, it will take about 30 mins to go to the ferry terminal (costs 350 baht for a taxi). From terminal to Phi Phi island, it will take around 1.5 hrs (800 baht round trip) + 20 min. longtail ride going to the resort (the hotel charged us 400 baht for 2 persons roundtrip). We also paid 20 baht for the tax upon arriving in Phi Phi Island. The hotel is really nice you wouldn’t mind travelling by air, land and water. I love the welcome drink they served! Coconut and pineapple shake. We stayed here for only a night so I would recommend staying here for at least 2 or 3 nights so you can maximize your time if you wanna do some water activities or island hopping. The villa is cute and clean but we were not placed in front of the beach. We were expecting a nice beach but it’s too shallow. Good thing they have a very nice infinity pool so we spent most of our time in the pool. There is no wifi in the room. Wifi is only available in the lobby but if you’re here for vacation, then it’s okay to be disconnected to the outside world while enjoying your time. Overall, we had a great experience!

A great time at the Outriigger”

location, staff, service

Overall we had a fantastic time at the Outrigger Resort and I would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in one of the Hillside Villas, these are quite limited in number and have been skilfully arranged so that they don't overlook each other and you have complete privacy. The view from the top of the hill, looking across the beach, is quite beautiful. The swimming pool is relatively small, about 6 x 3 metres but perfect for a quick dip, if you don't fancy using the hotel's main pool. The villa is divided into three areas; bedroom, living room and kitchen and 2nd bathroom, and finally the primary bathroom / changing area. The last area is a bit open to the elements, which does mean some bugs will find their way in. However, the other areas of the villa are absolutely fine as long as you keep the doors closed. The food that we tried at the hotel was all very good, although I wouldn't recommend using room service during meal times, we had to wait quite a long time and the food was luke-warm by the time it arrived. I have noticed that some comments left here have complained about the price of the food / drinks and you should be aware that an extra 17% will get added to your bill (service charge and sales tax); personally I thought that the price was reasonable considering that Koh Phi Phi is quite an expensive part of Thailand and the quality of the hotel. If you want something cheaper, there is a small area behind the resort with a number of bars and restaurants, and offering massages and day trips. Simply take a left at the road before you reach the Coconut Bar and Grill at the end of the beach and walk about 50 metres. For me, the best part of our stay was the friendliness of the staff (which actually seemed pretty genuine) and the level of service provided, which was consistently high from the easy check in process to dealing with any little problem that came up. This is the perfect place to spend a few days relaxing, can't wait to go back next year.

Amazing”

Secluded location with access to town by boat. very good food and amazing breakfast! Cottages were absolutely beautiful. Nice Beach but shallow water. Pool is great!
Food and drink were pretty expensive, if you take a walk behind the resort there are a couple of places to eat in a small village for a lot cheaper.

When arriving to Phi Phi I was stunned, the Island is Beautiful and the boat ride over was amazing! We did 3 weeks in Thailand, we originally planned to stay 1 night at Phi Phi Island Village before heading to Krabi. The hotel is only reachable by a 15 min long tail boat ride. As soon as we could see the Resort we were in shock, it was in the middle of no where and exactly what we were looking for, it was the most beautiful place we have ever seen! After arriving and seeing the place we decided to book 2 more night and it was the best decision we made! If you are a family, honeymooners ( as were were) or someone who wants to get away from it all this place is perfect. If you want night life and alot to do I would stay in Ton Sai but I would highly recommend this place and will be back in the future!

Amazing experience filled with view comfort ”

We husband and wife stayed for 2 days in phi phi island on honeymoon. Well Right from the arrival at the airport in phuket the journey seemed to be comfortable as we opted for beach resort ferry facility so they recieved us there and took to the marina where the ferry was due to leave at 11:30 am to the phi phi island. The waiting room was comfortable plus the female member greeted us very politely and happily it was a nice gesture tho. The speed boat ferry was a first experience for us. It was comfortable and the blue water was an amazing sight to see. We reached in one and half hour to the island. The bell boys received us guided and helped us in getting down from the ferry. Our room was beach junior suite it was as same as it is in the pictures. They had wrote happy honey moon on the leaves in the bed which brought a happy smile on our faces. We were greeted with a fresh lime drink with pastries etc. In short The suite was amazing every thing was clean smooth comfortable and cool.

Impress with the hotel, ambience and Thai people”

I want to comment on a pleasant experience when I arrive Krabi, & whilst boarding the ferry to Phi Phi Island. Just as I was to board the ferry to Phi Phi I realize I left my back pack (with my laptop and money in it) in the van that took me over to the pier. I rushed back to the pier office and frantically asked the staff to try and locate my back pack. By then the van had left for another destination. I waited anxiously for 1 hour and 15 minutes and was so delighted to see that my bag has been retrieved. All my items were intact. My personal appreciation and gratefulness to the honesty of the Thai people. My entire stay at Phi Phi Island Resort has been wonderful. Excellent weather, clean room, great facilities, fantastic breakfast and all the staff treated us so well. Will definitely return .

Perfect place for relaxing”

Top location Fair prices Nice quisine
I could never exchange currency Low tide on the beach most of the day Poor musicians

Island village is only to recommend. Very good sevice, briliant location, good choice of thai and european cuisine, quite comfy bungalows. The best thing about it - that it looks and feels like a paradise: white sand, azure seawater, palms and sun. The resort may seem isolated, but it's not. Just behind it there is another resort, surrounded by few restaurants, tour agencies and massage salons which offer a bit cheaper services to compare with the hotel's. Maybe because of that prices at the resort are hust a liitle higher as in Phuket. The biggest Village's drawback is the lowtide at the beach which remains till 2-3 PM, so you won't be able to swim in the sea as you used to. I mean, you can crawl on your tummy - but it's not a proper swimming, right? Still, you can use the pool, which is large and not overcrowded. We used to leave the Village in the first half of a day to go to Phi Phi leh or Ton Sai bay and so on, so the lowtide wasn't a real problem for us. And yes, this referred to the January - I don't know if this lowtide remains during the other months. All in all, it's a wonderful place to relax if you are a couple of a family with small kids.

Would def come back!”

We stayed at the resort for our honeymoon, the resort is beautiful and well worth the money. The staffs were extremely nice and helpful (Especially the manager Nori). We stayed in the Superior Bungalows and it was very nice, but wished we booked the ocean view as it was breathtaking. We only ate at the hotel for the complimentary breakfast, instead we ate at the village right behind the resort for lunch and dinner, which was the best choice since it was some of the best Thai food we had on our Thailand trip. Only minor negative thing I would have to say about this resort is that they should let their guests know beforehand about the ferry schedule getting to Phi Phi Island. We missed the ferry the first day because or plane landed a little late, so we had to pay for another hotel in Phuket as well as lose one day at the resort. The last ferry leaves about 2:30pm-3:00pm from Phuket. I mean it's our fault for not doing the proper research or we would've booked an earlier flight (we got to the taxi stand at 2:08pm)! Overall we had a great time, and would def return!

Honeymoon perfection”

the village behind the resort, the beach, views

The resort is fantastic. Actually it's perfect. I've never seen and will probably never see views so extravagant. The village right behind the resort is full of bars, restaurants, and tours for half the price of the resort and are more genuine. We spent every night back there. Andy from Phi Phi Dive Club. Spoke English and was our go-to guy. We hired him for a tour (awesome and cheap), and every day when we were walking through the village he would tell us a new spot to amazing and secluded spot to hike to on the island. (Ask him about the secret monkey beach, right past "trash beach"). I wish I would have spent more time in the village and exploring the island, because it is truly paradise. Heads up, while hiking there is WILDlife. We ran into snakes and an 8 foot water monitor lizard that scared my wife pretty bad. The monkeys are very shy but is awesome to see them in the wild.
