Find hotels near Phường 3 in Vung Tau, Vietnam

The rooms were big and clean however, the air conditioning started leaking early in the morning and eventually stopped working. Otherwise, I was very happy with the rooms. The receptionist was non responsive with a smile or pleasant "hello" and consistently showed no emotion or friendliness. She could barely speak English. We had booked a room with Agoda without having realized we booked for only one adult in a double room rather than two adults. She asked for more money to include the second adult. The booking was an honest mistake and asked that since the room and bed was already paid for, an extra adult wouldn't make a difference. She wouldn't honor it. After handing over 290,000 VND that she asked for, we realized that she was charging us nearly double the price of this one room which was 300,000 VND. We demanded to see a written pamphlet of some sort that would prove the price of two adults in a double room but she couldn't provide us with one. When asked again what a regular charge was for a double room for two adults she said it was a total of 450,000 VND, which sounds like she was about to pocket the extra money as she had charged us 590,000 originally. We asked for the extra amount we paid back. After fussing harder, she finally gave us back our money without any apology. I was ready to lose it! I woke up for breakfast at 10am only to find that breakfast had ended at 9am. I've never been to a hotel that ended breakfast that early. Again I fussed that no one had informed us of the early breakfast. They refused to serve me because apparently the schedule was written on my breakfast ticket in Vietnamese! Which clearly, I couldn't read! I fussed, and eventually was told to wait in my room for my breakfast. 30 minutes later I get a bowl of packaged noodles with still raw egg. Didn't stay there again.

This narrow, relatively low level hotel has a limited amount of rooms and a certain charm. The reception is a desk and in between that are some comfortable leather sofas. Slightly unusual for Vietnam, this has a homely charm that bode well for a comfortable weekend stay. Unfortunately though the Agoda booking had not been received (albeit that I had the verification), so slightly disappointed, what was nice was that the receptionist worked hard to find us alternative accommodation and was very apologetic. Consequently we enjoyed a tour of other hotel accommodation in this seaside town and what that highlighted was how nice our original choice was. Without doubt, when we go back we will be booking here (with more than a few hours notice)

At 180.000D, it was a very expensive hostel. I was certain that the quoted price was half that rate, but Agoda seems to have changed it when I booked, otherwise I could have a double room elsewhere for the price that I paid for a dorm. Popular with the Vietnamese, who all got up at 5.30am and caused a huge amount of noise, waking up the whole hostel. The hostel itself is quite nice, and the set-up of the bunks is quite clever.

This is THE place to stay in Vung Tau. Not that the town has many options for hostels to begin with, but contrary to my expectations, this one turned out to be a rather good hostel by all standards. The staff are helpful and energetic. You can rent out bikes from these guys and there is kitchen if you want to use it. The rooms are nice and clean. There were 3 bunk beds in my room and it was well laid out so that it never felt stuffed. The lockers helped as well to keep the luggage neatly stowed away. The place itself attracts a lot of travellers of all kinds. Definitely the place to be when you go to Vung Tau.
