When I travel i don't see the need to stay at a 5 star since I mostly use the hotel to sleep and clean up.. Then I look at how much can save without sacrificing, cleanliness, and conveniece.. If you sacrifice cleanliness you will end up with bed bugs... If you sacrifice convenience you'll spend a lot on transportation and end up walking more than you wish.. Finally how is the staff treating you can set the tone for your mood.. Phuong Nam was clean, was a 10 min walk from downtown and the staff were kind.. The only draw back would be that the staff doesn't speak English, which didn't impact me since my reservatiins were done online

My stay in the Phuon Nam Hotel was as expected, can't beat the price The hotel is located off the beaten path, which I didn't mind being I'm a runner and was within 2 minutes of the river and 5 minutes (walking) from a couple of parks. I found 3 small restaurants within a 1 block radius. Areas for improvement: there is no notice to hang on door to have the room clean. If you don't ask, the room will not be cleaned. I had no problem with this policy as I didn't want them coming into my room with my computer equipment, etc... Staff are friendly but few spoke English. If you go out and return after 10PM the hotel lobby will be completely closed, cannot access the hotel building, you must ring a bell outside the hotel-I didn't know this, was thinking might be homeless for a night lol.

Great place to stay.. clean, efficiently run. Have stayed here before many times. If you want a quiet room then ask for a room away from the elevator because there can be noise from the corridors and walk-ways sometimes. There are restaurants near the hotel and street food vendors. There's also a nice bar near the hotel so if you want a good nights sleep then get a room towards rear of the hotel.

My room is quite clean but inconvenient location. It takes me some money and time to go the center to eat and enjoy although Long Xuyen is a small town.

The room with city view is bright but we can not access the wifi. Meanwhile the other room got the strong connection but lacked of window and light. Generally it seems a good choice with budget price

Best value hotel ever”
For $AUD15 this hotel exceeded our expectations. It had a separate bathroom with hot water, a fridge and flat screen TV. The bed was comfortable. The staff were helpful with the assistance of Google translate and they looked after our motorcycle overnight in the secure, underground car park.

Clean room with necessary facilities including wifi. There are also add ons such as a kettle and cups. You are provided with cold water, noodles and soft drinks. However, these must paid for. Learn some basic Vietnamese phrases, because the staff's English is limited.

Besides the blockage toilet, the accommodation clean and staff were very helpful! Staff regularly come to the room to tidy it; make the bed and sheets; and even mop and sweep the floor. Very reasonable and cheap motorbike rent out, too. Thank you very much.

Room was good, nothing special but good. The staff doesn't speak english so we used translation apps to buy bus tickets.

Value for money”
Having to request reception to turn on the aircond power everytime returning to my room was quite annoying. They charged guest only 250k VND for booking a standard room over the counter. Agoda charged 300k. So I guess it is cheaper to book your room over the counter in your arrival.
