Pier 42 Hotel at Chalong Pier is a gem in this quite crowded area and travel bound location. It is different from the large hotel chains, has a home feel to it, staff extremely friendly, cosy and a bit rustic. Definitively recommended choice.
Really nice little hotel hidden away from the main street”
Beautiful environment with lots of flowers, plants and ornamental decorations. Great pool to wash off the day after being at sea all day. Walking distance from Chalong Pier where most diving and day boat trips start.
Hi Thanks for the great review, we hope to see you again soon
Good layover spot for a night or two”
We were meeting up with a sailing charter nearby, and have stayed here a couple times. The hotel is up the street from the water, walking distance to the pier. It's a bit dark - all the rooms are in an enclosed courtyard, so it's not very light or bright. But the room was very nicely decorated - plain, simple, but nicely done with wood floors and decor. Staff are friendly and helpful. I wouldn't want to stay more than a night or two, but if you need to catch a ferry it's a good place to spend the night before.

Exceptional private oasis.
The best hotel staff ever. Location is close to everything. One of the staff offered to drive us somewhere for free. The only downside is the walls are thin. you can hear the people next door fighting. You can hear the people's footsteps (specially if they walk all the time and dragging stuff around at midnight and 5am!) upstairs. Food is good.
Attentive staff and comfortable boutique hotel”
The second time to stay in this boutique hotel. As business traveler. internet for work is good, rooms are comfortable and staff remembers me. Breakfast is good. This time the food for diner was not great at the restaurant (Pad Thai), but plenty of options around if you are hungry. Great small hotel, I recommend.
Cute and cozy boutique hotel with great staff”
I stayed a week for business there. Quiet and cozy boutique hotel. Staff spoke well English and was welcoming. Breakfast is not fantastic, if the hot menu ( eggs, ham and so on ) have good options, coffee/jam/butter and European non-salty breakfast options could be better. The room was big, nicely decorated and spacious, with a discreet aircon, and overall very good wifi connexion. I had a good stay and good sleep.
Botique Hotel in the Center of the Action”
The hotel is surrounded by clubs and bars, but unlike Patong on the other side of the island, things are much more low keyed and friendly. The hotel has lots of character, but is well maintained and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are a lot of diving and sports fishing outfits in the immediate area.
friendly clean kind”
first stop in thailand when heading for the island - stayed thtee nights - beautiful room - gardens - small but refreshing pool - good breakfast and best of all two minutes from the ferries to the islands
Fantastic stay and Service.”
My third visit to Thailand and first time in Chalong. It was everything I had been told it would be. As a single american male on holiday from the middle east, it was perfect. I had spent time at Patong on the beach and Bangla rd and this was a great wind down. Dont get me wrong, there was more than enough entertainment, to keep me and my friend busy. I look forward to coming back.
Great little hotel with the best service in Phuket”
Our second stay at Pier 42. We will definitely be back in April next year for Songkran. The staff are fantastic right through the hotel. Steve and his team have put together a great little hotel that I would highly recommend to all travellers, particularly couples....
Lovely hotel but far from everything else”
the hotel was located a little far from all the attractions, however, the design and staff made it a lovely stay. the room was spacious and the entire premise was very clean and well maintained. the bed was comfy and the lighting was well planned. the hotel is located just 2 mins away from a 7-11 so getting food at 4am in the morning was not a problem.
nothing sepical ”
emtry hotel no service breakfast so bad ..... nothing sepical ,, no staff take care
Dirty, smelly and super small room”
The room smells disgusting and full with mold. We asked to be changed to another room but it is same smell (we suspected they used some bug drug or spray, a lot of white powder on floor. In the end, we decided to move to another hotel for the entire two nights stay. And didn’t get any refund at all even for the second night.
Located on the slightly less than charming sunrise road to the Chilong pier, the hotel is an oasis of calm after the bustle on the street. Loads of greenery around the pool, nice spacious rooms and genuinely helpful staff all made for a very pleasant stay. There are a couple of quite decent eateries nearby- an Italian bakery for breakfast, 'Happy Days ' for lunches and the wonderful Asado for dinner are all within a 100m. I had an issue when leaving for an early morning flight- the safety box containing my passport, money and ticket malfunctioned and wouldn't open. This was 06:30 , so the night porter tried to contact the day manager who has access to spare keys, and normally isn't in until 08:00. Failing to do this he then contacted the owner, who was in within 15 mins, and was able to open the box. Crisis was averted and I easily made my flight. And that's what good service is all about-so all in all highly reccommended.
Hi Daniel, We are very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Our hotel garden area was designed to be a lttle area of calm, set back from the hustle and bustle of Chalong Pier Road. We would like to apologies again for the mix up with your safe keys, and we hope it did not cause too much inconvenience. Hopefully we will see you again soon! Best Regards The Pier 42 Team
Nice hotel but only 3 hours' silence at night ”
This is a nicely designed hotel in an area dominated by scuba diving shops and girly bars. The location is perfect if you like those things or if you are making a boat trip from nearby Chalong Pier. The staff are helpful, the breakfast is good, the room is comfortable, spacious enough, and nicely designed. The free WiFi worked fine. The swimming pool is nice for relaxation but too small for any serious swimming. You reach the other end in 3 strokes. There is an issue with noise. The live band in the adjacent soi finish playing at 2am, and then a rooster next door starts crowing very loudly from 5:15am every morning. It was literally about 4 metres from my window and made sleep impossible for me. Perhaps the hotel can come to some arrangement with the owner. Finally I was rather puzzled that the cleaners left my air-conditioning on super-cold all day while I was out, but when I really needed it when I was waiting a couple of hours in the cafe for my pickup, all the air conditioners were switched off despite it being uncomfortably hot.
Nice, quiet and friendly”
We stayed there one night only, arriving late in the evening, and awaiting transfer to the The Racha resort next day, which can be only accessed by boat during day time. The Racha transfer lodge is just next door. Chalong is not our favourite place, but the hotel is an excellent place if you want to stay there. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are generously sized and equipped, very clean, and the location is very quiet, despite the noisy bars and traffic in this road. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back there for sure.
Great place Chilled and relaxed”
Had a great stay at Pier 42 the staff are really friendly and helpfull. Great location for me as I love the south end of Phuket , Rooms are great bit small and bit expensive for the size? By the pool during the day was great real peaceful and quiet !! Will stay their afain for sure !!!
Good hotel but poor staff performance”
The hotel looked fine but had negative points that makes it not that attractive: - Hotel didn't provide the right phone number on the Agoda Booking document. Arriving at midnight in the Airport, the Taxi driver tried to call the hotel to know how to access but no answer. Had to go on the website (luckily, I have access to internet via Phone) to find the good phone. - Hotel advertise on their website they have a "•Dive gear drying area" but no staff of the hotel was aware about that. In both cases, the hotel staff told us they don't know and we have to see with the hotel agent (that of course wasn't there both times). it was very disturbing. If answer from staff were accurate or if information was easy to find, it would be fine. But as it was impossible to see that mysterious "agent", the review of this hotel is not positive.
Quaint, renovated Boatshed in harbour area”
A friend and I booked this hotel last minute for a 5 day break. We were so pleasantly surprised how pretty, unique and well laid out it was. A diamond in the middle of an average area of Phuket. We loved our stay and the nearby 5 star seafood restaurant was the icing on the top for us. Its not a top area..but we really took day trips over to Kata and Karon and Patong to view the madding crowds and do some fun shopping. As well the gorgeous Rawai Beach was a 10min drive away. The only downside of the hotel was the soundproofing. The floors are all adjoined wood panelling so when someone in the next room came home in all hours of the night the entire floor/beds in our room trembled and shook with every step they made! But the beauty, quiet and authenticness of the hotel made up for the shakes. I would definitely recommend everyone to stay here.
