I fell in love with this hotel right away! Amazing setting overlooking the small hills, the ambience is just out of this world. Service was impeccable too, only small complain was that breakfast was not the best I've had. There are several really nice restaurants within walking distance though. Will definitely return.
Pita Maha Resort Ubud Review”
the best experience in balinese traditional villa. its quite peaceful. friendly staff
Good Hotel in Ubud town”
My family and I went to Bali for 5 days. We decided to stay in Pita Maha for 2 nights for its location and good review. We stay in pool duplex villa for 4 people in the family. The villa is double storey and spacious. Generally, we enjoyed stay there especially with the BBQ dinner with the other 3 friends who were there with families for vacation. The only problem that we have during our stay there is the place somehow full of mosquito which can be annoying when you sleep at night, and also itching/swelling from mosquito bites.
Everthing there was excellent.”
It was ashamed that I was there only for one night. The room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated in Balinese style with outdoor shower and bath. The other nice feature of the hotel is the main pool which overlooks the forest valley. The hotel is a little far from the main business district but there were hotel shuttle bus leaving every hour. However, I guess privacy and quietness is what people want when you stay in Ubud, so being not in the city is a good thing after all.
Pros: Beautiful, huge, traditional Balinese villas in a small resort. Gorgeous scenery. Peaceful &only a leisurely 20min walk to Ubud Town. The v best staff-friendly, courteous, helpful, quick, efficient,v professional. 5* chain hotels should send staff to Pita Maha for training! Small but scenic pool area. Breakfasts-yummy, lots of choice, all freshly made to order. Dinners-vgood. Attend one of the special dinners to watch an old Balinese movie & a docu abt the late King of Ubud. Fascinating. Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough for those wanting to enjoy the best Balinese hospitality in a traditional setting. Take binoculars-watch abundant wildlife on your villa’s doorstep. Cons: ...some steep steps for those with walking/heart problems;however my parents (77 & 78yr)managed fine. Some more drawers for clothes please for long staying guests like us.
If heaven on earth had a place... it would be here”
We have travelled extensively and have stayed at some pretty stunning hotels, but this one has left an incredible impression on us. The grounds and lush gardens are unbelievable, we felt like we were in a true fairytale. The service and the staff went above and beyond and we were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was delicious and the fresh fruit plate served just prior was like an art piece with colors and tastes like none we have had before. Don't miss their eggs benedict, absolutely perfect. The room was elegantly furnished and decorated and the beds were very comfortable. I loved the shower overlooking the gardens! We were a family of four (two kids ages 23 and 20) and we rented the two bedroom pool villa. We absolutely recommend this paradise location.
Moved to The Royal Pita Maha”
Was kept waiting almost half an hour when trying to check in when travelled all day & youngest child a bit unwell & no other guests at check in. Was then told “we have no room for you” - after my shock was told “a problem with their system” - then that guest in my pool villa had extended their stay? Offered upgrade to sister property The Royal Pita Maha - a pool villa as booked. Am told a superior property is newer & stunning setting but is a further 10 minutes drive to Sayan & a good 15 minutes drive from Ubud so not as close as Pita Maha. Staff pleasant but service overall lacking. I’ve stayed in many hotels all over Bali over 30 years many in Ubud Four Seasons Sayan, Kamandalu, Maya, Kupu Kupu - staff here not as well trained. Food was disappointing both in villa dining & main breakfast room so definitely pay the 50,000 Rp extra to eat breakfast at the hotel’s River side Organic restaurant as food & setting great. Grounds beautiful & villa spotless, tasteful & huge comfy bed.
A truely fantastic hotel. The villas are wonderful, well worth the 90 mins by car from the airport. The food was superb as were the staff, from the gardeners to the managers. Very peaceful and tranquil. The main pool was a joy to spend time in but even the private villa pools were great fun. I will be back.
This was a very nice stay in Pita Maha...my sister and I enjoyed every min. of it! Pure pampering by the staff and every morning a tasteful breakfast in any desire. Yes we will be back again to enjoy the beautiful garden and pool and listen to the birds singing. Yoga in the mornings with the view on our own pool was great! Well done.
An amazing hotel. Absolutely gorgeous location with sweeping jungle views. Magnificent architecture of main building, luxurious private villas. Gorgeous grounds with lush gardens. So well designed. Steeped in Balinese tradition, art and design. A work of art in itself. Location to Ubud town was a 5-10 minute drive (but there was a shuttle) - however there are restaurants and supermarket nearby so we didn't need to go into town. The infinity pool was stunning. Our private pool was superb. Views were just amazing. However, my only complaint being that after dreaming of coming to this hotel for 20 years (and saving my money for a long time and able to afford only 3 nights) we arrived to be told that they had double booked us and offered to take us to a sister hotel the Royal Pita Maha for 1 night, then come back for 2. I was more than disappointed, I was shattered. I had waited 20 years for these 3 precious nights, and to have 1 taken away was awful. I begged the staff to give us any room. I would have refused to pay for the night at the RPM and demanded huge compensation - but even that wouldn't have remedied the situation. After 3 attempts of negotiation and a hard emotional process for me, they found a garden villa for us. My family of 4 squashed into a king bed and a day bed, but at least we were at the Pita Maha as we hoped for. We were transferred the next day to the Pool Duplex villa (which was sensational) but the stay was marred by the disappointing start. We were compensated with a free dinner, however the price of the dinner was far less than the difference of price between the two rooms. I decided not to push for more compensation due to wanting a peaceful holiday. I just can't believe that a big hotel like the Pita Maha can get their booking system so wrong. I have read elsewhere now that this has happened to other customers. And the guest relations person I talked to at the time seemed to indicate that it was fairly common for them to move people from hot
Stunning location, great staff and hotel”
Really beautiful hotel in the mountains of Ubud; feels completely serene and isolated. Staff are attentive but not over familiar and can't do enough to help guests. The breakfast was outstanding and the room was really great. Definitely worth a visit!
I was staying for one night for my birthday and really wanted to treat myself (currently travelling solo in budget accomm so a welcomed treat lol). I booked a private villa with the pool, the room was gorgeous and the bed was so comfortable. The room overlooks the forest area and is so peaceful. The resort manager even arranged a birthday cake for me which was so thoughtful especially as I'm away from my family and friends at the moment. The infinity pool was amazing and I was lucky to have it to myself all morning. I've put location as a 5 as I wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle, it's about a 15/20 minute walk to Ubud town however, the hotel provides a shuttle bus service too. Good menu selection for breakfast. So happy with this hotel and hope to return again with the family for abit longer :)
We would come again as this is a great / great run away resort to amazingly enjoy yourselves at the same time being on the verge of little town with lots of cafes and restaurants and possible outdoor activities.
Total relaxation and privacy ”
Loved my stay at Pita Maha Resort. I will be returning. Staff, food, massage and location is perfect. Excatly what I was looking for. Attention to detail magnificent. Thank you to all the staff at Pita Maha Resort. :)
We and a fantastic time staying at the Pita Maha with our family and friends. The villa was beautiful and the view from our balcony breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and more than accommodating with any requests. We had a great time there.
Great resort worth to be praised”
The first sight when entering the lobby, we felt astonished. The villa locates at the edge of the valley and the view outbound was amazing! We booked pool side villa, and there was really a pool! It was not just like a bathtub, but a pool an adult can swim! The villa was spacious, typical Balinese style with refined and elegant decorations, the complimentary gift and welcome fruit were placed in order. Regard of accommodation condition, this was the best one among 4 resorts we lived in Bali. The resort provides complimentary delivery services, not only pick us up from pier Sanur, but also send us off to our next hotel in Jimbalan beach! Since the location is close to downtown and much food choice outside, we only had breakfast there and it was beyond average, enough for guest also one could only order one set. Close to the resort, there is the famous Naughty Nuri's Warung, don’t miss their delicious grilled spare rib! The infinity pool I must strongly recommend, quite, peace, and breathtaking beautiful! We went to Ubud Place, Monkey Garden, we also booked a car from the resort for a half-day-long tour to Elephant Hole, Saint Spring Temple, Kintamani Vocalno and Rice Terraces. It costed 750000 RUP, considering of security and convenience, it worth the price. But when the tour was over they would charge extra 200000 RUP for the reason of overrun. We explained that any extra charge should be mentioned in advance and they waived that part. One more problem, they did not collect clothes that we put in the basket for laundry. But overall speaking, the service is very nice and friendly. When night comes, the valley turns to be quite, staying in a spacious house surrounded by dark and silence, you might get scared, lol! So the best thing to do is going to bed and sleep well. We enjoyed the trip in Ubud, and Pita Maha Resort, wish we could go back there once again!
Wonderful Hotel in Ubud!”
Our family had a truly great experience at this intimate and friendly hotel surrounded by beautiful, natural scenery. The pool villa was very private and the staff very accommodating to our needs. Even our 8 years old son who gets bored easily enjoyed the time spent there. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable retreat close to the town center.
The duplex villa was very recommendable , my friends and I had very pleasant experience staying in pita maha. Shuttle buses are very convinent . The hotel in overall is very relaxing and beautiful , especially the pool !! Definitely gonna visit the seceond time to this hotel !!
Very relaxing & such friendly staff.”
If I had to criticize something, the hotel is a little dated, despite being quite well maintained. Having to put padlocks on the doors was a bit of a pain but if that's the worst thing I can think of, the hotel was worth every cent. Overall a great place to stay and very well situated to town center & local restaurants. Oh, and the air conditioner was quite loud but again, a small concern.
Relaxing, quiet Balinese retreat in the city”
Very enjoyable, nearly everything was perfect. The location near the center of Ubud but having the feel of a jungle spa was perfect. It's a 25-minute walk or a 3-minute shuttle ride to the center of town, but a number of restaurant options withing 5 minutes' walk. The only slight downside was the restaurant offered a very limited prix-fix menu with no choices. The restaurant is beautiful so it seems a shame it was completely empty all day except for breakfast.
