Good place to stay near Termini, if you can tolerate the noise from Yellow Bistro below”
While the guest house is on the 6th floor, there is an elevator, so that is not really an issue. Also, its only about a 10-15 minute walk from Termini station, and is in a neighbourhood which is literally buzzing with activity and has decent eating houses all around, including some in the same building. Despite these advantages, I have given a 3 rating on location, simply because of the presence of Yellow Bistro on the ground floor of the same building. The DJ nights at the Bistro end at 4 am, which means there is constant shouting and screaming on the pavement in front of the Bistro till that time. This does not make for a very restful night, as the sound carries despite the fact that the guest house is on the 6th floor. This is more of an issue in summer since the guest house charges extra for using the air-conditioning, and keeping the window open is probably a better option, not just because of the (small) cost savings but also because Rome nights are quite pleasant in summer. Apart from this issue, its a pretty decent place to stay. The room we stayed in was also quite nice (although not very big) with a large window and electrically operated window shades. However, the private bathroom was a bit too small (there was no place to stand directly in front of the washbasin as the bidet was placed there). The guest house only provides towels and no toiletries. Facilities were on the whole basic, e.g. no tea/coffee maker or fridge in the room but considering the price and overall location this was fine. What I liked was the owner/manager's behaviour and attitude. We reached pretty late on the first day at almost 11 pm and checked us in without complaining (we had informed on mail and phone beforehand that we would be reaching late). Not just that, he also provided us a map of the city with the key places of tourist interest highlighted and also told us how to reach there. (e.g. take bus no. 40 from Termini if you want to go to the Vatican). On the last day he also
