Great Budget Hotel”
I stayed 3 nights at the Zhongan Hotel and would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a budget priced, well located, comfortable hotel. The staff were friendly and really tried hard to make my stay a pleasant one. There were some language difficulties, but every time I needed information, I was eventually given correct and concise details. The location of the hotel is excellent, right near the main train station. Public transport from here is so easy. The only drawback is that many taxis don't know how to find the hotel, so always carry a map with you. In fact, prior to my initial arrival, I contacted the hotel and a very kind lady called Cindy emailed me a map and instructions in Chinese for the taxi driver. The other "plus" for the hotel is that they provide a computer in your room, with excellent broadband access, for only 10 Yuan a day extra to the room price. A bargain!
Tidy room, clean bathroom”
Although my room on the first floor was small and the window was boarded up, the sheets were clean and nice-smelling, the bathroom was clean and room very tidy. It's walking distance from the Beijing Railway Station and subway station yet the neighborhood is not noisy. The narrow road leading to the hotel was under construction during my stay so it was dusty when cars pass. But once road work is done, I'm sure that will no longer be a problem. It's the best value-for-money for a room with private bath. Bring a printout in Chinese of the hotel name and address so you won't have trouble asking locals for directions.
Cheap and adequate”
The hotel is basic, clean and situated adjacent to the Beijing railway station. An interesting experience for foreigners, because it is situated in a "Hutong" - a back alley amongst traditional local dwellings, but right in the city centre! I just needed a room for the day, and it was a huge contrast from the luxury international standard hotel where I had been staying. Nevertheless, it served my purpose adequately.
Budget hotel in a good location”
budget hotel in a good location for the train station, two different subway lines within 10 minutes walk, easy access to major tourist sights. restaurant is good for breakfast which was included in my room rate. and good enough to eat other meals there too, schedule permitting. internet is too slow in the evening; really they need to address this problem.
Convenient to the Train Station and Subway”
Good enough to extend my stay, but, as the hotel fills with guests in the evening, the internet get slower and slower, and shuts down. Plan accordingly. The restaurant is quite good. Breakfast buffet in the morning was included in my room rate. It would be perfect for vegetarians: good variety of veggies offered: broccoli, pumpkin, cauliflower, and many more. I had dinner a couple nights, at reasonable prices and enjoyable. The room is fine with a good shower that doesn't wet the whole washroom.
Great location in typical hutong by Train Station”
Stay here, and skip the China Railway Museum. Outside your window is a continuous showing of Chinese rolling stock of every imaginable description. I admired the hotel's double windows (not just double pane windows, but a full-on two sets of double pane windows) to try keeping the noise out. It helps. I was not bothered, even though the horns reach a crescendo at 11pm. The room was fine, if a bit basic. Can't say the same for the internet: too slow to the point of dying every evening once the guests check in.
trainspotters paradise; but i'm no trainspotter! however, i was not too disturbed by the trains outside my window. the horn honking is worst at about 11pm and again at about 6am. luckily i sleep during the intervening 7 hours. i've stayed at hotels overlooking streets of china with infinitely more horn honking! wired in-room internet is somewhat unreliable, and you have to ask the front desk to turn it on (why don't they do this automatically?) tv has no english channels. room is ok, but basic. good shower, with shower curtain: no sopping wet washroom floor afterwards!
Hotel close to station”
Hotel was less than 10 minutes walk from Beijing Station. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Bathroom was adequate. Breakfast was ok but only chinese food available. I was on 4th floor and there was no lift so might not be suitable for people with mobility problems. I used their laundry service. My clothes were returned on time but the cost was rather high.
Surprisingly good hotel in poor area.”
Although located in a dingy backstreet behind the main railway station, this hotel is ideeally situated for travel. Mainline, metro and excellent bus services are all a few minutes walk away. The room, although small was spotlessly clean and very well maintained throughout our stay. The cleaning lady was friendly and helpful in every respect, even to the point of helping up the stairs with baggage. The restaurant served a good variety of freshly cooked dishes served by charming and friendly staff. Experience with other restaurants was disappointing therefore we much preferred to dine at the hotel. Wifi was intermittent at times but soon repaired. Our only disappointment was with the reception staff who were dismissive and at times just rude. This cannot be put down to a language problem because my wife is a Chinese National. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would do so again.
value for money”
friendly, helpful staff. the room was big enough and clean. hotel staff is very cooperative but speak little english. hotel is very close to the beijing railway station. cabs, subway in walking distance.
Lovely hotel,great location poor reception”
check in reception was poor. ( saw another spanish customer received rude treatment). room was good. internet in room is very poor but wifi in a great lounge is excellent but they discourage us from being there after 11 pm. restaurant food is good but cheaperfood can be found at one eatery just round the corner in font of the police station. access to this hotel is difficult from beijing railway station for first timers.take a 3 wheeler mobil. metro, banks, western foods are just across brstation
The location of this small hotel is excellent, just next to Beijing Railway Station and Airport Bus Stop Line 3. It is located in a hutong (old type of street) a little scary but not need to worry about, because surroundings are excellent, walking distance from Tian'anmen Sq and Wangfujing and Silk Market!!
Cozy & Quiet with friendly and trustworthy Staff”
This hotel was placed in a decent location about 10min walk from the Beijing Railway Station Subway area. It was back in an alley, but still easy to find. The hotel had a nice cozy feeling, reliable wifi, friendly staff, and it was very clean. The price was reasonable, and booking was straight-forward. No scams. Little English, but it was easy enough
Lovely hotel with good service and great location”
we stayed here for 4 nights and the stay was very comfortable. the hotel is just 5 minutes walking distance from beijing railway station and metro stop. one can also avail the beijing airport shuttle bus (line 3) to reach here from the airport. the hotel served free buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant and the breakfast menu was not bad. the hotel service is also very good and they are always ready to help. the reception understands english (at least up to working level). free wired internet available in the room was also relatively fast. there is also a nice store inside the hotel that sells various food items, soft drinks and even bags at reasonable prices.
Great location near train station”
the hotel is located in this back ally which is at first hard to find but it is just a 10 minute walk to the main train station. we chose this hotel because of its proximity to the train station. additionally, it is really clean, nice ac, super quiet and just great. we really enjoyed it.
Nice hotel in the city”
I found the hotel quite easy. I just needed to ask once :) I booked a single room. The check in procedure was quick and the size of my room was ok. The room was clean. My window was in front of the railway station, but there was not that much noise. I enjoyed my stay a lot and can recommend it to guests they are in Beijing for seightseeing.
Beijing's best kept secret”
Wow this property is one of the best low cost hotels I have stayed in. As there was 3 of us we had a 2 bedroom apartment. 2 Big rooms with robes and TV's. Good sized kitchen and dining room. Clean bathroom. Best of all it was only 4 minute walk to Beijing train station and subway. Nice staff with good english skills. Nice resturant with good priced meals. On the down side Taxi's cant find it but with public transport so near who needs taxi's
clean, comfortable & convenient”
The hotel is in a great position [within walking distance of Tiennamen Square & Forbidden City] but is tucked away from noise & traffic in a quiet sidestreet. The staff are friendly & helpful & speak good English. All facilities are immaculately clean & maintained. The buffet breakfast is a wonderful start to the day. As well as the hotel restaurant there are numerous options for dining in the immediate vacinity.
