short trip ”
Hotel is very dirty and there were cockroaches. Not enough light inside the room. We didn't enjoy the time we were there
Staff were nice and hotel was near to metro station ..400 m from hotel”
Furniture inside the hotel were old n bad.staff were nice ..some are good in english and some they dont knkw english....best part is its near to metro station ...convenient for transportation
Nice hotel with standard amenities. Super cheap!”
It was a nice hotel with a lot of space for the price. It was clean and very spacious. I enjoyed my stay there. The staff could be a bit terse at times, but they were bearable. I believe they get most of their customers from business traveller, so tourists are not treated as well.
conveneint hotel for location”
conveneint hotel for location and space room, price is very good for what you get, easy and quick way from here to forbidden city , what is not easy to get in a city so big as beijing, staff doesnt speak english that much what is not good and even taxis cant get to the hotel entrance, you have to go out to main street 2 min away as for you to get it not being able to be booked what its quite an hassle.
Hotel right inside the Hutong”
Hotel is old, the room and furnishings are tired. There is Wifi in the lobby and in some of the rooms. There are location advantages, in terms of eating and shopping. If you are prepared to walk along the lane ways and alleys, you could get to many vendors selling food and fruits, and also many cafes and restaurants selling food at cheap prices. Within walking distance is Xinhua Road, with its many shops selling musical instruments, calligraphy and brush writing materials, etc. A great place to observe how the locals live. The hotel has the barest facilities. Banks are available along Xinhua Road. There is a subway station entrance about 12 minutes walk away. Lots of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
good location, reasonable price”
it is good hotel for short stays and sightseeing of beijing. there is free wi-fi in the hotel. nearest subway station is qianmen(approximately 10-15 min on foot from the hotel). near are forbidden city, tiananmen square and qianmen street. first time it is difficult to find the hotel, therefore better to order transfer for first time. we ordered transfer from airport, but we were not met and we used taxi.
Excellent location, excellent travel service too”
still my favourite place to stay in beijing, whether for business or pleasure. i've used the travel service for groups of two to forty people, and never been let down. the courtyard cafe over the road is a pleasant place to hang out, rooms are clean and comfortable, and you can stroll to qianmen in 15 minutes without seeing a main road.
Clean, great location”
Liked this hotel so much, we came back and also recommended it to many people! It's walkable distance to many places and you get to see how the local people live. Hard to find though the first time. Room was clean, not expensive but not many people speak English.
Great value for money”
Hotel is a bit dated but comfortable and excellent value for money. Rooms clean but dated decore, Breakfast good value for money, Located in narrow Hutong area, laundry close and cheap, transport close for transfer to airport etc, cheap,200 yuan just across from hotel. Very interesting place to stay.
A good place for sightseeing”
best price for staying in the heart of old beijing. literally old, since the hotel is place on the border of hutong area. don't go there via qianmen staion at first day, go through hepingmen. wandering in the medieval residential area is a good authentic experience, but not with all the luggage. a spacious room with unexpectedly large bathroom. by looks of the appliances, it was a fabulous hotel once - a decorated power distribution panel, capable of shutting down tv power supply and turning on "do not disturb" lights from the bed, speaks volumes. too bad the air conditioner/heater broke down long time before we even started to think about trip to china. our stay turned to be a bit chilly. not that it brought us down anyway. get water at local shops. 4th floor had free wi-fi, but not in all the rooms. the local micro-lobby near 2nd elevator has stable connection, though.
Comfortable, well located hotel. ”
We stayed for four nights at this hotel. It's situated near/in a hutong. We got a 2 bedroom room for the 3 of us. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom however really needs a clean up. The tour desk was able to help us with all our tours which we thoroughly enjoyed. They do have a little restaurant available where we had breakfast once. It's not too bad. A few minutes walk from the hotel and you will find some restaurants/bars and little shops. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we experienced no problems.
Favourite place to stay in Beijing”
still my favourite place to stay in beijing. fourth-floor rooms all have free broadband, and all rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. the renovated courtyard cafe opposite is a nice place to sit with a beer of an evening, and the hutong location so close to tiananmen square is ideal. the hotel travel agent service has never let me down, whether i've been travelling alone or with 25 students in tow.
as before the far east hotel is a jewell for staying in beijing it is in a quiet area close to resteraunts and a great bar called helens. good food and drinks very cheap.at night you can watch the local people come out and dance great fun. at night take a walk to t square just before the sun sets and you will see the red guard march across to the chinese flag a take it down and march back to the forbidden city
the far east hotel is more like a 3.5 star hotel than a 2 star there are great places to eat in the street. you can watch the local people dancing in the street and also there are a great number resteraunts to eat at.the staff are very friendly and help you with anyting you need
A terrible experience”
Terrible experience. The hotel is very old, dirty and it is in precarious conditions. Smells bad and the wi-fi does not work. My room was extremely dirty, with a lot of trash underneath my bed (empty glasses of beer and other stuff) and dead moths on the floor. Not to mention the bathroom. It was flooded and had some parts broken. I didn't try to change my room cause I realized it wouldn't worth it at all. I stayed only one day and then moved. It was the best decision ever!
Great location, could be cleaner”
My overall stay was pleasant. The bed was comfortable. The A/C worked well, which was a nice change from some other budget hotels I've stayed at in China. While the room was clean, the bathroom certainly left something to be desired. The shower was old and needed replacing, the curtain was gross and didn't stop water from getting all over the floor. I also killed a large cock roach that came out of the floor drain and discovered a strange worm looking thing living in the constantly wet crevice between the floor tiles.
worth the price”
The hotel is very far from the metro, you have to walk about 15-20 minutes from the main road and then you must go to in the street where the hotel is settled for about 5 minutes. It is hard to find this hotel, you have to ask people all the time to make sure that you won't get lost. If coming alone, I think in the evening it is a little bit scary and dark. In the hotel, it is good though!. Room for three people is quite big enough. Living here can make you learn how chinese people live. Otherwise, it is comfortable to come with the limited budget and in group of friends. They provide you a laundry as well, but you have to pay them which costs quite a bit expensive.
Old comfort hotel”
we arrived at midnight, and staff is not so friendly to welcome us. the Taxi driver is difficult to find the place. Beside, we have to pay for the luaggage storage fees even we check out early at morning 5am, and come back at afternoon.
Could do with a spruce up”
You can tell that when this became a hotel 70 years ago it would have been a nice one, but it needs work. We had a massive crack through our ceiling and the exterior of the building looked shabby. The rooms were comfortable though so we can't complain. They did the job for the 4 nights we were there. It was cheap though and as our tour started from there it was value for money.
Great Bargain Hotel”
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel based on the price. It is now officially a hostel but except for the basement floor (hostel area) it looks like a regular two star hotel. I was on the top floor and had a nice sunny room, well organized and comfortable. You will have difficulty getting a taxi here, so it is better for backpackers or suitcases on rollers. The only negative was the unpleasant smell coming from the shower drain - this was easily remedied by placing the shower mat over the drain when not in use. From a value perspective this is a great hotel to stay at.
