Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel”
Room was a little outdated”
Room a little outdated for a 5-star hotel but I understand they were undergoing renovations. Bathroom was small with stains on the tiles. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. I had good sleep. Some guests were just noisy when they pass through the corridor which can be heard through the door. I like the free phone use feature. That was a plus!
Nice hotel ”
The view from room is very nice. Staffs here are very supportive. Btw, the room was not well prepared when we checked in. Location is far from the MRT, but this will be not a big problem when the Havelock station will be finish on 2021. In sum, the hotel is really nice, and we will come back.
Good location away from the city and away from the malls. A walk round the area will lead to a string of cafes and eateries for hotel guests to choose from. The rooms in general were clean and the staff were helpful. I stayed there during a school holiday weekend and it was crowded. Tells you about the hotel's popularity. The hotel also had a 1 for 1 deal for the dinner buffet for Citibank card holders. It's definitely a hotel for couples to consider for going for a honeymoon.
Big room and Big breakfast ”
Centralised location and very good experience. They even give you a choice to select your type of pillow upon request. There are 7-8 types of pillow choice for those who needs special care. Breakfast is also a big spread and very good for those who wants a big fill in the morning
Excellent Hotel with One "But" ...”
This is an excellent hotel except for one thing and that is the huge amount of time it takes to get anything done at Reception. I don't think it was the competency of the staff but the Laborious Reception Computer System takes too long to do anything. I really have never seen anything as slow as this Reception
4 of us brought our tennis rackets to the hotel unfortunately there were no slots for the entire 3-4 days of our stay except mid day and after 9pm. Suggest to block some slots for in house guests during peak hours.
I booked this hotel when the room was on 71% sale so it was a very good value for this hotel class. I particularly liked (a) the free Handy phone with data in every room (helping me out so much with navigating around the city's public transportation system, plus discount attraction tickets), (b) the Saturday's morning walking tour to a local heritage neighborhood, and (c) the tea appreciation time with a young Singaporean tea master. I also learned about the 30% discount for hotel guests at their Italian restaurant on my last night there, and my squid ink pasta with prawns was very tasty. The concierge table was sometimes not staffed or the staff was not that attentive, but the bellhops were great, filling in whenever possible. I gave the free shuttle service that the hotel commissioned for guests to Chinatown Point an F though, because the drive I had that day lied to me about when he would pick me for my return trip. (I waited 15' before scheduled time but he never showed up.)
Staff were really genuine and friendly. The only thing to improve is just the size of the breakfast area that doesn’t seem to accommodate enough people during peak hours. The rest went smoothly for me with no issues.
Prob the worse 5 star hotel I've stayed in...”
From zero flexibility when it comes to early check in, to lying to my face about an "upgrade" provided, to room not being available, to a shower booth that leaks water as a result of which I almost slipped and sustained serious injury, to room key that does not work in some lifts and some slots, a bar that closes at 23:00 ... even some of the employees (excluding one very happy and energetic trainee) look somewhat miserable and one even advised me to complain otherwise nothing will change. I am so very sorry to have to write such review, as I have NEVER ever done this in my life, but people prob should know
Expensive, overrated,20.00 for 2 eggs, ridiculous prices for a bot of breakfast, compared to most countries we have visited (50 hotels in 7 countries last 25 uears) Singapore is by far the most expensive, too many people, & how we noticed the OLD PEOPLE WHO MADE SINGAPORE now work cleaning in hotels, food halls etc, while the young people live a life of luxury with fancy clothes, money to spend on themselves, & spending more time posing for mobile phone photos of themselves, shame,on them,a sad society now, the good things from Mr. Lee Kong Lee forgotten.,we never come back, 1975 was fine but 2019 not for 84 year old Australians
Stopped over en route to Australian we found the hotel facilities great service perfect and the rooms clean and tidy and very comfortable the buffet breakfast was very good with wide selection and we found evening buffet great as well the two nights we used it
I loved my stay. So conveniently placed on the riverfront and with many dining options within walking distance. Will be even better when the MRT system is completed. The staff were helpful, polite, informative and even allowed an hour’s later checkout at no extra cost when I explained my flight wasn’t until 11pm. The room I had was a good size ( my main requirement) however the decor was a bit tired and could be updated. Nevertheless I was there mostly to sleep so I wasn’t overly fussed. Shower and air conditioning 👍 I didn’t eat there. Would have if they had offered a continental style breakfast. Easier and cheaper to head to the river front. Overall I would return.
Real 5 star experience and reception from the arrival to the check out”
Great breakfast, perfect location, personal handy phone with and internet access when outside hotel and the AGSM Paul was super!!
Very nice hotel with a beautiful view at the executive lounge.
Big, comfy hotel with wonderful staff by the river”
It's by the river, there are restaurants across the river, and some very good. It is not however easily accessible by train although once the construction around the hotel is finished, there'll be one very near. So taxi or bus are your alternatives to walking, of which former can constitute a long wait in the queue. Staff does what it can to make you comfortable, and are very friendly. Restaurants in hotel are a little crowded and at best average for this hotel class. Check-in and check-out process can be somewhat hectic but there is express check-out available. There's handy phone in the room which can be used for navigation and local as well as some international calls (not all countries are listed), which works well though it can't tether connection to your own devices. Rooms are large and comfy, but lack international plugs, requiring travel adapters which often can't be used because of their size and the on/off button being too close to socket holes.
A reasonable choice for a short stay”
I picked the Waterfront for its location abd because I couldn't secure a room at my usual Singapore stopover, which is, the Riverview (aka 'Four Points') next door. I have always preferred the Riverview because it is rather more intimate and - over the years - I have developed a close rapport with some of the staff. Following a series of upgrades in recent years, it has upgraded its water supply and showers and now delivers truly hot water at refreshingly high pressure! Additionally, the hotel's simple straight corridors dispense with the twists and turns that confront one at the Waterfront. And its rooms are markedly larger. However, the Waterfront is far ahead on the F&B side: the bar is pleasingly roomy, while it circular design makes for easy conversation and Grissini is always one of my dinner choices when I am in town. HOwever, the Riverview is - and probably always will - hold first place in my heart!
Hotel along Riverside”
I was so impressed by staying at Grand Copthorne. The staff very kind and helpful. The location is great ,near River where you can easy to walk along the riverside. The breakfast is very nice (they have Mr Robot to make omelet egg for guest ..my kid loves it)
Very heartwarming service!”
We left the counter for something urgent during check-in process (in a hot June afternoon) and only got to room late in the evening. to our surprise, we were welcomed by a basket of fruits which was so delicious! we were given a huge corner room with almost king size bed. the room service was exquisite too. Will definite experience again if got a chance! recommend to all tourists!
The Place to Stay”
Our stay was fantastic half due to the hotel and staff and half due to the great location. Very few places in SEAsia can you go for a relaxing jog inn the morning, but the Grand Copthorne is situated right on a corner of the river with terrific walking/running/cycling paths. We even hired e-scooters to wizz down to Marina Bay and back. We would definitely stay here again. Tip - book Executive Club rooms so you get the many extras - our favorite was a glass of prosecco at 6:00pm.
