Beautiful Hotel, Spacious & Cozy Room”
We enjoying staying in this hotel. Everything is so perfect here though the location a bit far from town area but we are driving here so that's not an issue for us. We will definitely book at this hotel again for our next visit.
Very good service, spacious room. My kids were surprised to see umbrellas on the road for hotel guests. It was raining and we needed it to cross the road. Their (free) coffee was "drip" from artisans of Kyoto. I love the small details.
Great hotel for staying in Kyoto. ”
It's outside the every day tourism spots, but there were bus services and other means to get to the sites around Kyoto. We got the rooms at a discounted rate, but wow the rooms and the area around the hotel are great for those who would like a quiet retreat morning after spending a busy day and night in the city. There is a small pond with walking trails around it for a leisurely morning hike.
Best Hotel ever”
This was the best hotel ever. Everyone in my group, The World Parkinson's Congress 2019, was made to feel like Kings and Queens during our stay. We were so impressed with how clean everything was. The food was Excellent. Our every need was met. Excellent Hotel.
High-end hotel, but very limited facilities”
Stay here if you need to be near the Kyoto International Conference Center. For this it is extremely convenient, as from anywhere else you need to travel a lot. It is a nice high-end hotel, surrounded by amazing greenery, rare in Japan, great jogging in the park with a lake, etc. But the hotel itself is nothing more, no gym, no pool, no other services. Not worth paying a penny for the Executive Lounge - it is nice, but it offers almost nothing except drinks in the evening. It was always empty, noone uses it. It is also bizarre that in a 4* international hotel next to an International Conference Centre where major international treaties have been negotiated, there are NO ENGLISH TV CHANNELS, except for one that is mostly devoted to promoting Japan. No BBC, no CNN, etc... Otherwise nice big rooms (unlike rest of Japan), superb views, nice breakfast.
Hotel check out at 9AM???”
Old hotel and checking out 9AM without even inform customer at the time of checking in. Yes. No one tells you they requite checking out at 9am. Call directly into my room on the checking out date and tell me the checking out time is at 9AM. asks me to pack up and go down to settle my bills as soon as possible with a very stright forward and rude manner . This is ridiculous. Will not stay again. Definitely avoid
John and Dawn from Scotland, UK”
Room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Staff were very polite and helpful. Nice, quite location on a conference campus but only 20 mins metro ride into Kyoto Station. Beautiful views across the city to the mountains from the room.
just a big wow! you should choose this hotel, wont let you down
need to have more casual cafe ,with "reservations not necessary. that said ,the prix fixe French restaurant was excellent for a night's spluruge
Good service , easy to find , big room ”
Although it looks far from central district , railway can go there directly. The room size is double of those busy district hotels Also , good luggage service . Hotel can free deliver your bags to Kyoto station , good for travelers
A hotel surrounded by trees”
It's surrounded by trees and gives you a very nature feeling, and it's convenient too, 5 mins walking distance to a nearby underground train station. I had a double room which is big and nicely set. You can hire a bicycle, 2,000 Yen/day. Kyoto is suitable for cycling.
Ideal location for conference facilities”
We found the Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto location excellent for attendance at the Kyoto conference centre opposite. For general sight seeing better options are available in Kyoto City itself. The Hotel was to an excellent standard. Breakfast was a problem for us as we started at 6.45am and could not have breakfast earlier at the hotel so we purchased breakfast provisions from a nearby hotel. On the first night we could not secure a booking in the hotel restaurants as they were fully booked out so walked down to the main street and went to a restaurant there. The hotel pricing increased during the period of the conference so were disappointed with that. We stayed an extra 3 nights in Kyoto but chose to stay at a more centrally located hotel. Although the Grand Prince Hotel had reduced accommodation prices dramatically post conference we chose to stay elsewhere, as felt ripped off by the hotel during the conference and was disappointed from that perspective.
Robe small/medium, pajamas also too small. Internatl. Conference people from all over the world.”
Pajamas and robes too small, no XL size. Service slow and not friendly, a specially for Japan which is extremely helpful and polite. Restaurants other than hotel’s were .5 to 1 mile away. Another option was to take subway back to town to eat out.
Good hotel but a little remote”
We arrived at the hotel at 2 pm and were informed that check in was 3 pm and we were just left to our own devices for an hour. I believe that the hotel should have an area where customers could make themselves a cup of tea or coffee while waiting. There should also be tour maps and brochures in English available and staff should also have an understanding of English as it was a little difficult to communicate. However our room was upgraded which was appreciated and the room had a great view of the gardens and was clean and well laid out. The location of the hotel is a little remote being at the end of the railway line at Kokusai Kaikan Station, however the signage was good and there is a covered walkway to the hotel. The breakfast was excellent and each day an English Japan newspaper was delivered to our room. It was a good base for exploring Kyoto. Also note that there is a 200 JPY Kyoto City Tax for accommodation costing under 20,000 JPY per night.
Dated but well maintained. Good size room with a view of a hill. Pretty surrounding area. ”
Close to train station. But not much to do around this area. No gym, no complimentary water. Good price. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Free baggage transfer to and from Kyoto is definitely a plus considering train to Kyoto is about 20 minutes from Hotel. Would stay here again.
Bad location but value for money”
the location is very remote, don't recommend to go there if you don't drive. If you are driving, make sure you have an umbrella with you as there is no cover/underground parking and good luck to hunt for a good parking space, rather limited.
We were satisfied with our stay, especially with the location of the hotel. Would stay here again.
Hotel has no pool or onsen or Japanese bath. It is far away from the centre of Kyoto but on a main subway line with excellent accessibility for wheelchairs and luggage. The staff English is limited. Very large room, view of trees. Very clean, but the furniture is dated.
very expensive for food and drink. excellent location if working in the convention centre ,beside subway for easy travel
Thank you to the staff and management for your impeccable service, in particular the Royal Lounge staff who made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to make our stay memorable .
