Fabulous location, great staff. clean comfy room”
Location-fabulous; staff-friendly & helpful; room-clean, comfortable, best shower; Breakfast-Needs improvement! Summary of my experience: I had to check out at 6:45 am so I was waiting at the restaurant entrance before 6:00am. I was the first customer when they opened. I am an American who loves eggs for breakfast. Well...no eggs. The manager said the scrambled eggs and the hard-boiled eggs will be out soon. So I had my juice, coffee (after I asked why the coffee maker was not working-it wasn't turned on- and a 1/2 bowl of cereal (only 1/2 bowl because there was no more cereal left in the container-which had place for 3 types of cereal. It was empty!) The boiled eggs came out at 6:25 am and the scrambled eggs were still not out be 6:37 am when I absolutely had to leave. I complained to the manager on my way out about no eggs and the cereal containers were empty. (Someone was not checking what was available to the customers.) Also, ALL food should be out and available when the restaurants opens at 6:00 am.
Good location hotel!”
This hotel is located near the Da Bei Buddhist Monastery (less than 10 mins walk) and the Tianjin Eye (15-20mins). It is also about 15-20mins walk to the Ancient cultural street. In front of and near the hotel, there are shops and restaurants with reasonable pricing as those are mainly for locals.
Spacious clean room good location”
Walking distance (10mins) to river bank, can walk to the Tianjin eye in 20mins. Walking dist to good local restaurants, 7-Eleven, bakery. Room is spacious for 2 persons, bathroom not the best design, water often overflows from the shower/ bathtub to the floor. Easy to catch buses and taxis. Staff were polite, though not all were knowledgeable about tourist attractions or how to get there. Breakfast was a chaotic affair. Expect messy diners (local tourists), mostly Chinese breakfast not continental, thin watery coffee. But the cleaners do try their best to be efficient. Overall good value for money. Will stay there for location and price.
Great budget stay in Tianjin”
The staff are excellent, all very friendly, they spoke good English and were very helpful. The hotel is in a great location, very close to the river and the Eye of Tianjin Ferris wheel. The room was very clean and nicely appointed, the shower was excellent. The breakfast was quite basic.
The location of the hotel is excellent, walking distance to Gu Wen Hua Street (Old Culture Street) and also Gu Lou Street. Eye of Tianjin is also nearby and the riverfront. It is also short taxi ride to Tianjin Station, for both train and bus. The room is well appointed too. I certainly recommend this hotel to anybody who goes to Tianjin for short vacation or business. If ever there is small complaint, it is the front desk staff who needs to be a bit more patient and courteous to customers. Then again, they may be too shorthanded, as only 2-3 of them who have to handle many customers at a time.
Worst hotel ever stay before”
1)air con only 28degrees centralize (very hot ,sweating in the room) 2)very old holiday inn express 3) run out of shampoo 4) bathroom floor was not clean 5) very dirty carpet.6)look at their breakfast u don't feel like having it.
Very comfortable and clean room”
Hotel is centrally located. Near to most of the main attraction. The room is big and cozy. Nice bed with 2 diff type of pillow, soft and firm! Room was nicely designed. Everything is so good except the breakfast. That was the most horrible breakfast I ever had in a hotel. Very LIMITED choice and most of them are tasteless. Only thing eatable is the bread.! Drinks are all tasteless too. And totally no meat at all. Will come back to this hotel again, but will never take their breakfast again. Many restaurants round the corner of the hotel. Walk out abit to get some better food.
perfect budget hotel”
Everything is great. Facilities, location and cleanliness are all great. Can see the sky wheel fr my room. breakfast is simple but the coffee is gd. But taxidriversmay not know which one it is if you just mention "holiday inn". Yiu shouldspecify its the old one cos just next corner there is a new one.
Great hotel, excellent location and friendly staff”
Breakfast choices were good, with a selection of asian and western dishes. Lunch and dinner menu was reasonable. Staff was very helpful, writing destinations out in mandarin for taxi drivers, suggesting costs for destinations etc. We were able to walk to all of the major attractions we wanted to see.

good and comfortable
Great hotel value for money.”
Very good room cleanliness comfort and staffs are very attentive. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as really lack of choice and quality was bad.
This hotel room equipped ipod player therefore it will be very nice just to plug our ipod or iphone into the player. The room is also clean and the bathroom also clean...
The front office desk was efficient . Was disappointed that I didn't get a suite as booed because I ha e three people. Perhaps the description at agora could be made clearer that if twin beds was requested a suite will not be given . Breakfast was disappointing - spread was limited - nothing much to eat
Great location, excellent for a Chinese hotel”
Stay was great. Location was central and walking distance to the Tianjin eye and the culture street. The front desk had good English and the rooms were clean. The one negative side, was that we ordered a King bed, but it was really a Queen size. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Not very big, but perfect for what we needed it for.
Value for money”
We were checked in very quickly around noon, partly helped by fewer guests during this season. hotel is old, though it is fairly well maintained.Room is fairly clean and well maintained considering its age, as is normally expected for Holiday Inn express, breakfast is plain, just good enough to start the day. Hotel is near to railway stations and some major attractions, including a temple just 300m behind the hotel, the famous colonial buildings along the river, and the old cultural street just across the river, all within 10 minutes by car. overall a good stay and truly value for money for the price we paid.
hotel room and corridors have strange smell ”
The hotel room and corridors have the strong smell of chemicals. Not recommended for a long stay. I stayed for 2 nights and hence it was tolerable. If you plan to stay in your room for long and not just to sleep, find another hotel in Tianjin.
Holiday Inn Express Tianjin”
The room was comfortable enough however, it had a stale smell to it. We had two rooms and they both smelled bad. They were certainly big enough though and the water pressure in the shower was great! Our breakfast was included, we took advantage of this, of course. It was the worst breakfast we have ever eaten! We had to ask for cutlery and napkins. There were no juice glasses and the three varieties of juice were mislabelled. The coffee tasted like it was made the prvious morning. The staff were friendly enough but extremely disorganized. The floor, from previous diners was left full of food. This is totally unnecessary and very well could have been swept up after they left. Fortunately, there is a 7-11 store and a bakery across the street. All this being said, I would still stay here again.
