Fukuoka - Hakata - Sunroute Hotel”
We stayed two nights at the hotel on our trip to Fukuoka. The hotel is conveniently located in walking distance (1min) to the Hakata station. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was very small barely any place to open the luggage.
I like the location of this hotel. It's just 3 minutes from the main subway station Hakata. Easy access to Shinkansen as well. From airport it takes about 15 minutes by taxi or about 10 minutes by train. The food court is just few step from your hotel. The Hotel is clean, warm staff and some of them speak english. It's a wonderful place to stay
worth for money and convenience”
The staff are really wellcome and friendly. The food is nice, near to the shopping complex and subway station. You can take train from Hakata station to explore fukuoka. Bus terminal is only 3 minutes from the hotel. Food court are everywhere. the toilet is extremely clean
Room was not properly arranged during our stay in the hotel”
My friend booked the hotel for three nights for a twin room. I booked the fourth night myself for a single adult, as my friend flew off one day earlier. When we checked-in, we were given a single room with a single bed. The hotel staff then changed it to a twin room for us. However, the second night bookings were full and we were put into a single room with a single bed. They switched us back to a twin room on our third night. The fourth night was changed to a single room again. Eventually, we had to change room every night throughout our stay in the hotel.
Location is excellent, facilities and services are fair”
Very close to Hakata station. The room is OK.
Felt betrayed & will never stay in this hotel again!”
My first stay was on 28 Jan. The front desk staff who served me was professional and as the stay was uneventful and comfortable, I gave an excellent review after the 1-night stay. I left my luggage with the hotel, travelled around other parts of Kyushu and came back for a 2-nights stay on 2 Feb. A Ms Wang helped to check me in. During the check-in, I reminded her that I had booked a non-smoking room. She assured me that I would be placed in a non-smoking floor (3rd floor). At around 10 plus at night, there was strong smoking smell in my room. When I opened my door, the whole corridor was filled with smoke. I called the front desk to complain and after investigating, the gentleman informed me that as their smoking rooms had 'overrun', they had placed guests requiring smoking rooms on the 3rd floor. They even informed me that the person who was smoking was the guest next to my room (315). He then asked whether I could still smell the smoke. I had strayed air freshener throughout the room so there was very little smell. He had wanted to leave the matter as it was then since I couldn't smell much smoke and to close the case. I then asked him did it mean that the guests would not smoke again. He of course could not guarantee that. To cut the story short, after being put on the phone for a long while, I was told that a room was (suddenly) available for me to be re-located to. Any help from any staff to re-locate? Not at all! In fact, the lady who brought me the key to my new room gave me a 'you-are-a-troublemaker' and 'get-out-so-I-can-check-the-room' look that made me felt so humiliated. I had enjoyed my first trip to Kyushu so far but this unfortunate episode had spoilt it for me.
Clean and tidy, near city center”
The location is quite good for young couple to stay as it's beside the MRT station and shopping center. However, I saw much of drunk people stay outside the hotel because many of pubs in the same street.
room size was typical of a japan hotel room. what i didn't like was that the bed was flush to one side of the wall which meant that the person that slept against the wall had to climb over the other person to get out, as the foot of of the bed literally had about 1 foot of space, and as there was no space for your luggage, your luggage would be the most likely to be there. the great thing about the hotel was that when they said non-smoking, it was truely non-smoking. a lot of the hotels in japan that i have been to, it says non-smoking but there are ashtrays in the room and the room smells like smoke, or vents are together with smoking rooms so the smoke smell comes into your room.
convenient hotel right outside of jr hakata”
clean room with good amenities. right outside of jr hakata station and you can access the market fairly easy. this place is by far the best price with its awesome location. hotel staff will provide you with tourism information when requested. internet is available in the lobby for 10 min.
Friendly, Efficient Hotel”
mainly good ooverall. the hotel is in a very good location, central to all shops and facilities, including a post office, which one needs to go to to get cash advances at the atm machine there^^street atms do not dispense cash on foreign visa or mastercard credit cards. also right next to hakata railway station, which also has huge numbers of shops and eateries
Hotel Sunroute Hakata”
the stay is very comnfortable although i find the room a tad too small for my liking. However, this shortcoming will be quickly forgotten when you realise the hotel's proximity to hakata railway station and the excellent service rendered by the hotel staff. i recalled trying to mail postcards and was enquiring about postage cost. the staff on duty brought me to a nearby postal agent personally and make the enquiry on my behalf, as i do not speak japanese.

Hotel Sunroute Hakata”
The hotel's best feature is its location--Hakata Station is a minute's walk away, which was great because we took the train to Nagasaki, and after a long day there of sightseeing and then the return train trip, it was nice to have only a minute's walk back to the hotel. Next door to the hotel is a sushi restaurant where we had dinner each of the two nights. As well, Canal City is only a 15-minute walk away, as are the yatai food stalls along the canal. My Korean apartment has only a shower, so it was a treat to be able to soak in a bathtub...and the bidet toilet was a nice feature. While we knew ahead of time that the room would be small, we were disappointed that the sole window looked onto the side of a building. However it would not deter us from using this hotel again.
Exceptionally comfortable and clean hotel”
The Sunroute Hakata hotel is right next to the station, so well located for those staying in the city for just a night or two. The rooms are clean and comfortable and standard size for Japan (smaller than western travellers will be used to). There's a coin internet machine in the lobby but all the TV channels are in Japanese only.
Great location, above average rooms”
The hotel really is only 1 minute walk from the station. Also, the front and back entrances lead to either the station or a main road with a Yodobashi Camera just a little way away. The staff were very helpful (however, I do speak Japanese, so that helped). But the bed was stiff and the room squishy, but big enough. Annoyingly, the bathtub creaks while you're taking a bath and makes it impossible to relax.
Fukuoka, Sunroute Hotel Hakata”
Arriving at Fukuoka Airport for the very first time, my wife and I caught the subway train below the domestic terminal for a 5 min ride to Hakata Central Train Station, the fare is only 250 yen. We emerged from the subway onto the ground floor of Hakata Station where we were directed to the East Gate (Higashi exit)which is directly at the top of the subway entrance staircase. Upon asking for directions from several Japanese people in broken English/Japanese we were mistakenly directed to the Sunlight Hotel directly across the street and the staff there re-directed us back across the street and one block down to the Sunroute Hotel. So, when you exit the East (Higasshi) Gate turn left and walk pass the Hotel Centraza and turn left at the street corner and walk 3 doors down to the entrance of the Sunroute Hotel. The lobby is very bright and clean with a very friendly staff to greet you. We arrived late at night,11:00pm, so it is advisable to let the hotel know your itinerary when booking so they can hold the room for you. We travelled around Kyushu for a week and booked our first and last nights at the Sunroute. They were nice enough to hold our extra bags over the weekend as we travel to Nagasaki before returning for a final night in Fukuoka before boarding our flight home. The hotel rate is very reasonable and cheaper than the more expensive hotels in the area. It's good to travel light to avoid dragging extra baggage up and down the always present train station staircases where elevators are not always available. Most hotels in Japan can sent your extra baggage ahead to your next hotel for a small fee so you can travel around and not have to drag all your luggage with you.
Our second stay here in a week as my wife and I travelled around Kyushu for a week. We booked our first and last nights here for its location close to Hakata Train Station which made for an easy transfer to the subway and Fukuoka Airport. Staff was very friendly and held our extra baggage prior to check in for a couple of days as we traveled to Nagasaki for the weekend.
Very good , nearby station ”
Staff are very sincere
The hotel is very close to Hakata Station and Airport Bus Stop. There are several convenient stores and restaurants nearby.
Next to trainstation”
A coupla-minute walk from the trainstation; very convenient with friendly, helpful English-speaking staff.
