Poor counter service ”
Regular visitor booked a twin room by accident through Agoda as it was already 10.30pm on our 1 night stop over told cannot change room with a double bed then after many requests manager said cannot fully booked I questioned this then they just gave us a room !! With a double so totally messed around for 20min late at night. Need to be more helpful especially with regular visitors.
Four stays this year ”
Stay at Topland six to seven times each year. Here are some cons. Older hotel, tub shower head mounted inconveniently low for Westerners (but I like the abundant hot water, strong pressure, nice toiletries and big towels more than ducking my head for a few seconds). In room safe is old style requiring locking plug from front desk (I don’t have enough money to use the safe but if you do a thief would need to demolish the room to crack it open). See my other reviews for all the positives.
Basic good value”
The Topland offers basic good value in a good central location. Staff are friendly and efficienct enough. The pool is nice (and salt water rather than chlorine), the spa is nice, though the massage fairly average. Overall the hotel has a slightly seedy, old-fashioned ambiance but provides pretty good value.
Nice hotel. Pool was not good ”
Nice hotel, rooms ok except bath was very old had chips in it, shower was not great. Reception staff very good & seating area was good. Very good breakfast. The sad part was the pool it didn’t look clean, you didn’t seem to get any sun & you was warned by a sign stating very slippery be careful.
I had stay at this hotel more than 10 times since 2001 , great hotel warm hospitality.
Big and old hotel. Needs refurbishment program. Not bad at all.
Excellent services from the staff at Front Desk, very good location and clean hotel.”
We were impressed with their services! This is the first hotel that allowed us to check in at 7.00 o'clock early in the morning! And kindly let us stayed until 13.00 when we checked out. We got a room on 15th floor, marvelous city view and felt like you sleep in the sky when you laid in bed. The room had no safety box to store your personal things but we were confirmed by the ladies from the House Keeping that there will be no problems of stealing though you can leave your valuable things at safe by the receptionist. Breakfast is good, but we've had much better than this in ChiangMai with the same price. It's a hotel of 30 years with very well maintenance. The carpet on the corridor is thick and soft to your shoes, amazingly, they can keep it clean! Try this hotel once, may be you will be impressed by their 1 1/2 cm. marble tires in their bathroom. The glory of the old days 😊.
Good traditional hotel”
Hotel is old fashioned but pleasant. Frontline staff were polite and helpful. Restaurant staff were not. In fact they were grumpy, not friendly or polite. This may be due to the demands of a lot of coach load guests! Its attached to a department store, so if you are into KFC or cheap Thai food, you'll find it easily. However, if you want a bar or a decent restaurant within walking distance, there are two trendy bars - but really only for Thais.
Excellent hotel, but regret coming to Phitsanulok”
The hotel itself was lovely. Excellent value! My only issues were the restaurants, I couldn't find vegetarian food in any of the 3 on site and when I tried to ask if anything was vegetarian the staff didn't speak much English and just ran away from me, leaving me a little embarrassed (though this isn't the hotels fault). We spent two nights in phitsanulok because the hotel looked that nice, and regretted it. There is literally nothing to do.
6th Time this Year”
My wife and I stay here eight times a year while on round trips from Chiang Rai to BKK and return. I've posted other reviews so suffice it to say we think this is the best value considering location to Wats, shopping, & city center. Free secure parking a must for us. Excellent breakfast and dinner. We have a couple of cons, but minor; which are if other guests (usually European tours) are smoking in their rooms a light smell of smoke makes it way through the central cooling system (staff has always moved us if requested), shower head is a little low for a 6 footer but the water is hot and strong, some of the rooms are a little outdated but always very clean. We've tried others but find the Topland is our best choice.
Liked everything about this hotel. Staff, large and clean room, great food and excellent value for money.
Recommended hotel in Phitsanulok.”
Impressed me as always ! Except, 3star for house keeping today coz they did gossip so loud while they are working 10am-12pm. Working noise are acceptable but should not be these laugh and yaw.
Nice location and cozy.”
Superb location...You can walk from hotel to Wat Yai within 20min. There is department store in same building. So you can shopping in rainny day. Good facility...Kid love this salty pool with waterfall. There is a night club which I recommend to visit after 10pm. most people would start from that time. Strongly recommend this place.
Enjoyed my stay with them”
Overall it was a nice stay. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, but the language barrier may be sometimes of a struggle. It is in the centre of Phitsanulock so getting to your destination wasn't too much of a problem. I stayed with them twice in a span of a 3 months. When I stayed with them the second time I didn't get bath robes although I clearly remember having them during my first stay. When asked the reception said that they don't offer them for this type of room. I found it a bit strange because I booked exactly the same room. Apart from this small issue, I really enjoyed the stay and I am going to stay with them the next time I am in Phitsanulock.
Great hotel for a reasonable price. Room was very clean and everything was in order. I really like the staff in that hotel, they were very kind and helpful. Only communicatoin was a bit of an issue because their command of English language was very poor. Breakfast was reasonably well prepared. I wish there was more items for English and/or Continental breakfast, but you can always order something special with the cheff. Overall I was very satisified with my stay and I think I will be staying there every time I travel through Phitsanulock.
great staff, lovely hotel”
topland hotel was just what we needed for a couple of days recuperation after travelling northern thailand. plenty of places to eat in the hotel, there's a mall attached that you access from the lobby and a rooftop pool. and considering ow much you would pay for a hotel of this standard in the UK it's incredibly good value for money. Staff in the lobby are fantastic and will help you with everything you could possibly need. The bus stop for sukhothai is 200m from the hotel (don't expect the bus to be on schedule, it is thailand after all)
Every thing was perfect. From check in to check out. ”
First of I was happy with check-in, very deliteful staff. Helping hand, co-operative staff. Another thing location is very good every attraction, market, malls, transportation, train station, is at walking distance. Rooms were big enough and clean. Only request to hotel is provide English channels on TV. I will strongly recommend this hotel to stay.
Always good value”
Not my first time here and won't be my last - it's the tallest building in Phitsanulok and a landmark in the town. Renovated at some stage as the building itself is probably 80s/ early 90s and extraordinarily good value for what you get. Nice buffet breakfast as well.
A great hotel.”
Location: near the airport Cleanliness: the room was clean but has an old smell that would fade away after stay in the room for a while. Staff: the staff was great Facilities: breakfast was great. The hotel is next to a department and a supermarket which is very convenient in case you forget to bring something.
A bit old but okay / Value for money”
If you don't mind the not so modern rooms and generally the old style, it's quite okay. The buffet dinner is economically priced, but also nothing exceptional, Asian, Thai and Western dishes, no salmon, shrimps and such, but all right, no cakes, rather Thai sweets. Breakfast is similar, no complaints, according to the level of the hotel, large buffet. Ample indoor parking.
