Tylko Plain of Jars, miasto nie do zwiedzania”
Lovely staff, nice clean room and good location . Beds are rock hard, so if you are used to sleeping in a comfortable soft bed this is probably not the hotel for you. Otherwise everything else was perfect!
Great views and kind people ”
Upon arriving after the long trip from Vang Vieng, we were surprised to meet Mr. Souk, who offered us a shuttle service to the hotel. He was so kind, spoke great English, and later became our Plain of Jars tour guide... highly recommend booking with him, although a bit pricey, worth every penny! He really helped make our stay in Phonsavan excellent and kept us well-informed. The views from the hotel were excellent. The dinner food was really delicious and reasonably priced. This is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Phonsavan!
Stayed for two nights so that we could visit the plain of jars. Still a very nice hotel, giving honest service, breakfast was ok,evening meals good and reasonably priced. Some staff could speak reasonable english. Wonderful sunset views over the plains.
The hotel was a bit on the inside road but they do offer free shuttle services to go outside so it is ok. The rooms were really huge! It can comfortably fit 4 or even 5 person. Staffs, friendly and accommodating.
Excellent - highly recommended”
The hotel was excellent and the manager there was extremely helpful. He arranged a tour to the plain of jars and also organized us some accommodation in Vientiane the next day. The views were awesome from the balcony and the made to order breakfast delicious - highly recommended.
Was in Xieng Khoung in end Nov, hence the room was quite cold at night. There isnt any electronic heater within the room but I found out when I check out that you can request for a portable heater! The info shld be placed within the room somewhere. Internet is reliable.
Amazing huge rooms!”
This was a lovely hotel with enormous rooms (separate sitting room and bedroom, plus large bathroom, immaculately maintained. The food was generally excellent. The hotel provides a free bus service to drop you wherever you want whenever you want and will also collect you, either at a prearranged time or if you call them. Free airport pickup and dropoff. The hotel will arrange tours of the Plain of Jars and other attractions - not the cheapest but probably the best quality of all such tours. Ask for Tey as your guide, if possible. Only a few reservations: service can be a little haphazard at times and WiFi is only available in the reception area - the only hotel we stayed in in Laos where WiFi was not available throughout.
Overall the best place to stay in Xieng Khuang and amazing value for the money...”
Great views from room balcony. Enjoyed morning breakfast at the restaurant with views of the valley. Staff from driver, receptionists, waiters, housekeeping all well trained and genuinely interested in welfare of their guests.
The hotel in itself was very clean and comfortable. We also had a separate sitting room which was a bonus but the hotel was a long way out of all the activity and it was some way off the main road up a very rough unmade up road with no lighting. The position was very good for views though. Front desk staff were unable to speak very good English which made it difficult to arrange things with them. So yes would recommend for something’s not for others.
One of the best places in Phonsavan”
In this area you find only 3 star hotels and most of them are not worth to have stars at all. Vansana is ok for one night, it's cla=ean an d if you ask they have a heater for you. FOOD IS CLEAN AND SAFE
Disappointing with Vansana Chain of Hotel”
After visiting Plain of Jars Site 1, we headed to our hotel, Vansana Plains of Jars Hotel in the late afternoon. The staffs have low morale, nobody seemed keen to work, no reply from the hotel for booking confirmation, breakfast was limited due to low occupany. Supposed to have nice sweeping views of the valley but it is blocked by withered trees. The best views of the valley will be from the breakfast area.
Hotel is quite and clean. Staff is friendly. View from hotel balcony is awesome. Hotel provide shuttle to town anytime till 9:00pm. Recommend for people who want to have a quite time and nice view. Breadfast service is good.
Mr Souk the tour guide is the highlight”
I spent two nights here coming to see the Plain of Jars and other local sights. I was met at the airport by Mr Souk, even though I hadnt asked for a pick up and he took me to the hotel. Mr Souk has excellent english (and in fact teaches local kids English at night in his own house) and although prices are fairly high for tours, his tour in the van is excellent and I would recommend it. The hotel itself is quite large but when I was there was very quiet (off season), they did a good breakfast with nice crusty bread, fruit, eggs and tea. The rooms are large with good aircon. Rooms are a little dated in their style and feel a little spartan but still quite good. For me the bed is far too hard and it would be great if they could offer a few rooms with softer more comfortable beds for softy westerners like me!
Rooms are big and balconies with a view are nice”
Staff didn't speak much English but try to help as much as possible. Hotel was very empty when I was there - for one night I was the only one. Breakfast was good. Shelves to put toiletries inside the shower should be added. Easy to get to town with the free shuttle services provided.
Another Agoda booking thhat worked”
Considering other options in Phonsavan, and contrary to other reviewers, we found this hotel more than acceptable. We stayed here for 2 nights after the long drive from Luang Prabang. The rooms in the villas were large with a separate lounge, walk thru wardrobe/storage room (with safe, fridge, and storage) to a large double bedroom. Beds were lovely and firm as are most in SE Asia (wonderful for the back). The bathroom was fine. WiFi worked perfectly. The views from the hotel where very good, sitting on a hill with 360 degree views. We ate in the dining room on the first night and the meals were adequate. Breakfast was fine with eggs, sausage, bread rolls etc. Staff weree helpful. The walk into the main street was on gravel streets and the walk to Bamboozle restaurant was about 15 minutes. Our program had us away from the hotel, so we didn't see much of the town during the day. Visiting the MAG and Quality of Life shops was depressing to say the least as the Laotians are still battling the after effects of the prolong wars with American, Chinese and Russian XMOs still wounding and killing people.
Bit chilly and impersonal, but comfortable”
It was raining, so the room felt a bit chilly - but everything was available, tea, frig, extra duvet, and the staff were very helpful even though the hotel is huge. The rooms are like individual chalets, which might have been lovely in warmer weather! Not many of the staff spoke English, but there was always someone who did, and tho the internet didn't work in my room (which was right at the end of the gardens) it worked OK in the lobby and restaurant. I was surprised how big the place was - designed for large groups, but everything worked fine.
lovely rooms in good location”
The location of the hotel means you have great views and are above the noise of the night-life, but of course the down-size is that it is a ride, or a bit of a hike from town up the hill. The rooms were considerably better then other places we have used. Food was fine, and excellent value, though almost inevitably the breakfasts were mediocre.
Simple and Clean Hotel with friendly staff”
The Hotel was quite difficult to find (not well signposted), but the staff were helpful and friendly and the restaurant was very good value. The rooms were simple but large and clean. Probably the best place in this small town.
Simple, clean hotel with a view”
I stayed at the Vansana Plain of Jars Hotel for two nights while exploring Xieng Khouang province and the Plain of Jars. Upsides: the view from our room (on the row facing away from the town) was great! It's not, however, as nice as the view from the Auberge. For its size and comfort, the room was a great value. The hotel kindly made its van available to us for free to pick us up and drop us off at the airport. Downsides: Everything about the hotel was a bit dated, and the food (both breakfast and dinner) was unappetizing. The staff, while friendly, mostly did not speak English.
