We knew we were going to arrive late (midnight) from KL and only stayed a night at Planters Hotel. We checked out the next day. Room, bathroom were clean. Bed was okay. Sheets may have been a little sketchy but it could've been the soft lighting. We were on the second floor, so the sounds of street activity was pretty audible the next morning. We had the windows open. No A/C. Consistent with the hotels I've stayed in Cameron Highlands. I guess they don't really need A/C. The plus side to this hotel is that it's pretty much right smack on the main road at Tanah Rata. Restaurants, food court, night markets, bank and currency exchange are all within walking distance - either just across the road or along the same shopfront-corridor.Our agoda-booked room didn't come with breakfast. The restaurant right next door to reception area could be part of the hotel. We had breakfast a few doors down from the hotel though. Decent, fuss-free, great location but definitely don't expect creature comforts or a calm, serene, quiet stay.
When I check on web site, it has air cond, washing machine, free wifi in room, the hotel has none of these. It is my first experience that after used toilet, you threw the tissues into dustbin instead of flush it.
Nice place to stay at Cameron Highlands”
Very friendly and helpful staff and excellent central location.
We enjoyed the location right on the main street with easy access to restaurants, the bus station, booking agencies and town attractions. Our room was reasonably large, comfortable with clean bathroom facilities.
Great place to stay when in Cameron!”
Rooms were spacious and comfortable but can get a bit hot during afternoons. Would give a better score if there was fridge in the room so we could store the fresh vegetables bought from the weekend market.
Clean and located near the bus terminal”
My stay in Planters Hotel is good. I contacted the reception before I arrived. He consulted me very well. One thing I would like to complain is the location in Google Maps is not matched with the actual location. However, the reception told me the correct location one.
No Running Tap Water & Poor TV Signal”
Good location, nice room with ample space, windows with no view. If you okay with a hotel with no running tap water and very poor signal of so called satellite TV channel.. then this is a perfect place for you. I did complained to the front counter. The staff came to the room, bang here and there of the pipe line and said its normal since the water pressure is very low. and for the TV signal ASTRO (the satellite TV Provider) the staff explained that ASTRO has some signal problem in Cameron Highland. I've stayed in few others hotel in Cameron highland and ASTRO works fine. By far Planters Hotel disappointed me the most.
Hotel close to nature”
nothing much to shout about. the hotel was average considering the price. I stayed just for 1 night. overall the stay was nice as the hotel is located near local attraction like the strawberry park, near bus station and local food stall. The room was not so good as there are no fan and no window. We had to use the toilet window just to get the fresh air from outside. the mattress was a bit hard.
Nice but far”
This hotel is ok but the bed is too soft so it is really not comfortable. And this hotel is located at a small town and if u want to go to the attraction u will have to drive and I was stuck in the traffic jam for 5 hours where it is only actually 5 min drive.
Nothing special,I expect more for the rate I pay”
I've stayed in different type of accommodation ranging from 5 stars (biz/family)to budget motel/lodge (friends/divers). I would say the stay here is OK but not value for money. You can get better ambiance else where for this rate.It looks nice but the feel is not there. Pro: 1)The front desk staff do smile 2)Walking distance to eateries 3)You can experience 1st hand of being inside the mist during day time by standing at the balcony 4)Room are only accessible via access card and you do not have to turn the power off when you go out and leaving other family member sleeping in the room. Con: 1) Room are not sound proof 2) water heater is on and off during early morning 3) Toilet hose not functioning properly 4) Sheets/pillow/towel are clean but there are stain on them. 5) Only one plug point. So its a problem when I need to charge my laptop, phones(plus other family members) and camera. 6)No wifi (if there is,it definitely have weak signal) 7)No room service 8)Major turn off for me is there is ants on the bedside table and baby cockroach at the bed headrest when we first check in...hmmm not a good 1st impression there. Anyhow, the reason I stayed here was because of impromptu plan to visit Cameron. No rooms available elsewhere.
An average hotel.”
The room is large and toilet was clean. For the room I stayed, the entrance door is not well maintained and it is loosen. Therefore, I can clearly heard whats going on the corridor. Other than that, everything is fine.
in the middle of Tanha Rata”
The hotel is situated at the very middle of Tanha Rata with lots of food choices nearby. Along the street are also many local tours company to join a full day or half day tour for travellers who are not driving. Cleaniness of the room is overall acceptable. Wifi only available at the lobby and was a bit slow.
Nice Room and Good locatio”
the hotel was very nice keep. the location is very strategic and very nearby to banks and shop to shopping. night time easy to go pasar malam for shopping. the only thing i'm not satisfied with the breakfast which is only have 1 menu for breakfast and the taste also not good. second thing we stay at 4th floor and cannot get the wifi service provide by the hotel.
Good hotel with comfortable rooms.”
Very good hotel because their services are good and with smile all the time. Recommended to all tourists where they want to stay at night. The price that agoda given is cheaper than what the actual price. Will come again when have a trip there.
new hotel surrounded with all facilities”
we were given the road frontage family room which is so noisy - facing tanah rata main road. however, the room is so spacious, has big shower area, 32' lcd tv and very clean but no room service/phone in the room. requested another 2 towels since day 1 coz the room is for 4 person but no respond till check out. toiletries is so basic, therefore don't forget to bring your own....parking - by roadside, no hotel parking. food - we booked room with breakfast (buffet)but the waitress said can only take either one: nasi lemak bungkus (very small), nasi goreng (also small portion or bread & butter, can't eat all on the buffet table. what a rule??????
Location is its blessing and bane”
since it is a newly renovated hotel, i expect much of its facilities is at least brand new. i found out that the room's wooden flooring, bathroom, furniture, tv sets are all new except for the mattress which softens even when i'm sitting down. no fan is provided in the room, hence opening the windows is the only option to aerate the room which 1) attracts mosquito (no window netting is install) and 2) allows outside noise to penetrate the room. my room on the 2nd floor at the rear side of the hotel is facing the local wet market and next to the road. hence it is noisy even when the curtains are drawn completely. notwithstanding the above minor complains, my stay in this hotel is overall satisfactory. room and hotel corridor is spanking clean. room is spacious. reception staff and even the cleaning lady is courteous. check in and out is fast. food stalls, cafe, atm/ banks, bus/taxi station, clinic, dobby are all only footsteps away.
Perfect spot for newbies”
everything was good, the place is in the center of everything so its not hard to find restos and markets. Also the environment is so clean. the only downside that time was that the elevator had its maintenance so its hard running up and down the stairs
Clean and Great location”
planters hotel consider is a new renovated hotel and it's clean. hotel located in the tanah rata town and very convenience. the hotel is close to major bank such as maybank, cimb & ambank. restaurants are just same row with the hotel. however it located a few km to brinchang, needed transport to arrange own transport.
A nice and neat small hotel”
The hotel is very clean and neat. Strategically located at the central of Tanah Rata, which makes it easy for us to find foods and all other stuffs. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Probably the speed of the elevator needs improvement as it is very slow :)
Newest hotel in Tamah Rata, Love the service!”
I had a fun stay at this newest hotel along the Tamah Rata stretch. It is near to the bus interchange, shops, eateries and night market. The location is quieter than Binchang, which is good since you get to enjoy the tranquility of Cameron Highlands.
