Nice little budget hostel with real comfortable bed”

The vibes in this hostel really depends on the backpackers that are staying with you that day. One day I had very quiet but dull night because my roommates won't speak, the other times I had people who mingle very actively at the lounge, which is cool. Lots of DVD options at the reception to kill your time, comfortable bed is real gem, and short walk to beautiful beach. Friendly staff! Wish coffee is provided, but at least I've got 1-2 tea bags from a cabinet in the kitchen which seems like a free food corner. Good value all in all.

Good place to stay for travelers”

This hostel is good, if you are staying for few nights in Christchurch. It has really good location, just few min by walk from Pier. Just 20 min by car to city centre. The price worth to stay and my room was very clean and comfortable, so I would stay again and can recommend it for few nights during traveling.

Cheap but it should be much cleaner.”

The room was OK and it was very cheap but the hallways and facilities don't look like they have been cleaned for years. The carpet is so filthy you need to wear shoes with many food and stains spread down the hallway. Towels were on the floor in the bathroom to absord leaks from the toilet. There is no reason that it can't be much better.

You can stay if don't mind the smell.”

We booked a double room(16 sqm) but was given a single room (8sqm), I don't know the reason for that but all I can assume is that hostel is used for accomodating homeless people. Bathrooms were clean but kitchen was a horrendously dirty anf filthy. Cross check the room booking with them by phoning beforehand. Polite and hardworking hostel staff.

Scary and absolutely disgusting! ”

When I pulled up to the property I actually second guessed if I was at the right location. The photos made the place look cheerful and inviting and what I found looked like a cross between a homeless shelter and a trap house! I circled the building and pulled into the little parking lot where an old woman approached my car and asked me if I would give her a ride into town so she could get “more money for dope”. She said that they had run out and needed more but would share with me if I gave her a ride... I sat there a bit stunned and looked around at the other people seated around the door to see if she was joking or not. No one seemed like this was out of the ordinary. I parked my car and did my best to dodge around the woman and make my way to the lobby/check in. The “manager” came to the door dressed only in shorts, no shirt and no shoes, and with a drink already in his hand. As we went over the paperwork and rules I could see the woman through the window, now along with another man, circling my car in the lot. She came inside as I finished signing and followed us upstairs to my room asking over and over again for a ride into town. The manager acted as if this was normal and just laughed her off. Let me pause here and rate the actual building.. It was DISGUSTING!!! The entire place reeked of cigarettes and weed, there was rubbish and litter everywhere, the laundry room and kitchen area were filthy and my room was dank and smelled of mildew. Now let’s go back to our wonderful tale of the homeless lady and the grimy night manager.. as we approached my door, he handed me my key and went over the rules of check out one more time. When I closed my door I stood there and listened until they left and then I booked another hostel and left as quickly as I could! I had lived in New Zealand for almost a year at this point, I have never felt safer in a country, as a whole, than I did while there. Doors always unlocked, super friendly neighbors and strangers always

Good value ”

We chose it because it was what we could afford it. We thought it would allow us a night's stay with bearable discomfort. To our surprise, it turned out to be much better. Like the other backpackers, this place's shared kitchen and toilets relatively clean and neat. The room though basic but sufficient and beds were comfortable. Though it located a bit out of city, but nearby were shops, cafes and even a Countdown supermarket, all very convenient. There was free parking on site and a the nice seafront to relax and walk (don't know what the place called)

Ok at best only if you olny have to sleep in chirstchurch such as if you arrived super late and nothing else will accept you. This place sticks like feet and sweat the rooms looks like maximum security Prison cells and the toilets were made about 80 years ago and have not been cleaned since. We payed for a double room. bed was like a wooden board pillow were like sleeping on razor blades and the room has no natural ventilation so was like a sweat box. Would rather sleep in an alley way for free than sleep here. Also location is like sleeping in a town in no mans land in the wars. Actually go there just to see how bad it is. I would rather go spend a night in a prison.
