"After our Business Expo, my business partner and I checked into our hotel and got something to eat at the Bistro. I loved the Bistro's service and food so we spent quite a few dollars there. We decided to enjoy a beer and on entry - I was met by a barmaid. We asked if we could watch the rugby international in the gaming room and she pointed to me and said no, because I was barred from the venue. I told her I understand how "Barring a Patron" works from my days as a security manager and so I asked her how I could be barred from a venue as this was my first time to Melbourne on business and had never in fact, been to this venue. She must've realised that she had no legal standing to bar me from a venue without any legal documentation barring me. She then said "You still can't come in because I'll make sure you're barred from this venue. She said that we could only watch the game in our room and not in the pub or bistro area. After this, I asked the manager on duty "What's her problem?" and said she legally cannot bar someone from a venue without a written record of the barring and the patron being served a notification (whether verbal or written). The manager's answer is that "Oh! She's like that". When I queried the security guard on duty and the other barstaff after she had finished her shift about a barmaid who was giving me lots of attitude - they all knew who I was talking about because they described her appearance to me "Was she blond, late 30s to 50s with a ocker accent?". This will definitely be the last time I ever go back to this hotel/venue and have recommended to our company and our business partners to NOT book with this hotel/venue. Sorry guys but never again!"
