"Don’t be misled by the budget price for a stay at Ryan’s-this Resort punches far above its weight. Owners Gary and Nok have created what’s arguably the best resort in its class in the whole region of Issan. Yes the rooms are clean, spacious and contain the basics-but that’s expected. It’s what I didn’t expect that surprised this long-time Thai resident ex-pat. The surroundings are beautifully laid out and maintained. The pool area is immaculate…to quote Darryl Kerrigan (The Castle, 1997) “How’s the Serenity?” Phil is the part-time Chef, Barman and all round Raconteur who cooks great meals and if pressed, will even drop you his ‘Full Monty’ English Breakfast-outstanding! The roomy bar (with poolroom) is well stocked, offering draft beer and even spirits by the glass-a welcome change from the usual Thai style of being required to purchase the whole bottle. Just about every imaginable TV station is available in the bar as well as in the covered outdoors dining area. This is where the local ex-pats gather to exchange the day’s tall tails-and what a great bunch they are… more than willing to welcome any guest into their clan. Ryan’s Resort is a family friendly stopover that offered me more ‘bang-for-my-buck’ than I’d hoped for. Don’t go through Prasat/Surin without stopping by at Ryan’s; even if only for the best European menu in town-you’ll be glad you did."

"This place is fabulous! Both Markus and Tan were very warm and welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. The bungalow is fantastic and only a 1 minute walk away from their farm land which has a pool, kiosk area with refrigerator, stools, hammock and a swimming pond which is included in the stay. The area itself is what I would call the real Thailand and is a perfect retreat/getaway from other tourists. The locals are very friendly and referred to me as Santa because of my beard lol. If it’s a stress free holiday you’re after then this is the place. We will be returning on our next visit to Thailand. Who wouldn’t want to relax around a pool that’s completely yours whilst watching Water Buffaloes and Cows walking around. Thanks Markus and Tan for a fantastic time. P.s, both hosts speak perfect English. Enjoy. "

"Basic, institutional rooms are kept clean, and were recently painted, and supplied with in-room coffee maker (coffee packs resupplied daily). Quiet location along route 214, just one K south of the busy 24. Best dining options, however, are north of 24 in the center of Prasat, or at the second filling station to the west along 24 (no kidding!). Note that the staff does not speak English, and the mark-up from on-line booking services like the one you're now on render this property a borderline prospect. "

"The place is in a decent location, the staff are friendly and warm and took great care of me. Not much English spoken here, but its OK for me as my girl is Thai. The room is large and airy and has good Air-con and cable TV. Overall I would highly recommend to travelers coming to the Prasat area of Surin. Oh and there is a Tesco just down the road for shopping needs. "
