A great base to explore the attractions of Bangkok, this property is located in the heart of Bangkok on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. Accessing Praya Palazzo Hotel is only available by barges. To provide the utmost convenience to the guests, the traditional wooden barge, particularly selected to fit with the hotel’s historical mansion, is always ready for transportation. Featuring 17 rooms, each one is decorated with a rich historical background to achieve a unique, uplifting atmosphere. Praya Palazzo Hotel is within walking distance to many interesting historical sites such as The Grand Palace, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Aroon (The Temple of Dawn), China Town, and The National Museum. Historical hotel. Only access by boat.”
This hotel is in a historical building. You can't access it by car, nor on foot. Only by boat, which you get on from the designated pier. If you drive, you will only have to park inside the temple opposite side of the river and call hotel's boat to pick you up. Well, it's a cool experience, but not so convenient if you like getting out at night. It takes 15+15mins boat ride. If you like to sleep early, don't get room on lower floor, go for the upper floor!! As it's an old building, you will hear people above and around you walking all the time until around midnight. There's an old hanging light on the ceiling, you will hear the sound of that keeps shaking too. I'm not talking about ghost here 🤣 Good breakfast. Great staff. Cool swimming pool. Good for a night I think.
We have had this on our bucket list since moving to Asia. Finally made it! We enjoyed the water taxi to and from the hotel - what a sweet touch! Even though we arrived very late, the boat was ready for us (called when we were riding from airport). Staff was very kind, non-intrusive, and welcoming. The grounds were beautiful with an amazing pool (we didn’t use this time). Enjoy!
Old-world luxury great despite imperfections ”
If you like old-world luxury and you like the idea of being isolated yet 5 minutes on a private boat from the busy city, then this is the place for you. The rooms are stylish, breakfast is good, and the pool area is a fabulous, quiet place to relax for the afternoon before heading out to the city for the evening. It wasn't perfect though: It's quite common to label rooms with little view as garden view, but none-the-less, at a nice place like this, it's disappointing to have only a view overlooking the unattractive backyards of local neighbors. The room also lacked places to sit. There was only a single desk chair. Finally, the room cleaning wasn't very thorough - some surfaces were dusty and walls were dirty with finger prints etc. I've lived in BKK for 3 years, and despite its imperfections, I'm inclined to visit Praya Palazzo again. The privacy, quite and old-world luxury is a welcome change to the typical fancy river hotel in BKK.
Riverside Italian Villa style boutique hotel”
Stylish hotel located in a peaceful setting on the banks of the Chaophraya river. Only accessible by boat available 24 hrs per day. Tranquil gardens and stylish rooms complete with private swimming pool . Ideal for those travellers seeking some seclusion whilst within easy access to the city of Bangkok.
Can be reached only by boat just 17 rooms make sure that it really will be quiet and private still they have a real great Thai restaurant except for the name it's not really Italian but it's all a great traditional Thai design a real special place ...
Beautiful location and hotel”
Love the location and the venue. Staffs are nice and accommodating. Taking a boat to the venue is actually quite convenient and fast. However, the bed is a bit too hard for our liking and towels are not ideal. Recommend not to take western breakfast
Colonial style vacation”
24 hours shuttle boat available anytime takes you to this colonial building with only 17 guest rooms. Recommend for couples looking for a romantic getaway with good access to Khaosan road and to explore the city from here.
a nice boutique hotel on Chao Phraya river ”
The hotel is nice but with limited facilities. You can stay there for a quiet rest but nothing much to do. The hotel lacks certain facilities that make it more pleasant. Not a hotel that I would consider going back. The staff are very helpful and the boat shuttle service is great.
Perfect escape on the river”
We loved the Praya Palazzo. The rooms are comfortably furnished, with good wi-fi access and quiet AC. The International food was superb. Even in the day, sitting by the pool was quite cool and very interesting watching the birds come to cool down in the pool, as well.
Beautiful escape from the heat and crowds”
The hotel is located in the Chao Praya river and a shuttle fetches you from Pra Arthit pier. From the minute you arrive, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are plenty big enough to feel homely and let you relax, while still maintaining a hotel quality and ambience. The evening meal (rack of lamb) was simply delicious and as good a quality as in any high-end restaurant. We didn't try any local food, but there are plenty of street vendors just across the river for that. Overall, we loved it and would choose Praya Palazzo every time we go back to Bangkok.
An escape through time, back to a slower days”
Lovely hotel that really gives you a sense of period retreat, transporting you back in time to days where life is not a rush. The rooms are well decorated with rich history. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, the menu is exotic and traditional yet rich and amazing. A place to visit, for sure.
Colonial Style hotel with privacy”
really stylish 17-room mansion renovated into a luxury boutique hotel. if you are looking for something different than the usual high-end design hotels that all tend to look the same then praya palazzo with its rich historical background is the right one for you. you are in the heart of bangkok on the banks of the chao phraya river and can relax by a beautiful pool surrounded by history. the only drawback, if it really is, is that the hotel is only reachable by the free shuttle boat but it never proved any issue for us. you just call them on your cell and they zip over in 5 min or less. can only highly recommend this hotel and its caring staff.
neat place, hard to get to ”
Difficult to come and go, have to take hotel boat. A bit overpriced for the amenities and location. Staff was fantastic, did everything very invisible and very friendly. Nice to stay in a historic place. Very quiet and nice if that is the goal of the trip. If you want to go out at night, a little difficult waiting on the pier for their boat to come pick you up to bring you back to the hotel.
the perfect hotel to stay in bkk, we loved it and would come here again anytime! staff are great and the location is quiet but still close to the main sights. private boat is also excellent but sometimes if you come back late you have to call them to collect you.
This hotel has a unique ambience. it's a really interesting place to stay, almost like an old English manor home. Staff are absolutely amazing. Location is great. The pier could be hard to find but our taxi driver knew where the pier was. You have to walk through an alley way with an indoor style market to reach the pier from the road. As soon as you phone the hotel river boat will be there in 5 mins. It's great to get away in a few minutes on the boat to reach the hotel from all the chaos of Bangkok. Fabulous location Kao San Road is 10 minutes away on foot across the river (look for for the alley- turn right when you leave the road from the pier). River boat from the pier will take you to all the tourist locations e.g. Grand Palace (temples) etc. I just wish the nets were removed from the windows to let more light in. Ask for a river facing room.
Fabulous hotel on the river”
Loved our stay here, very historical house on the river, the staff are amazing it was our birthdays/anniversary and all the staff surprised us with a birthday cake special thanks to kan office manager great location to explore from . Highly recommend
Great location, easy to get around. The staff are amazing and can’t do enough to help. A little oasis in the heart of the city. The free boat taxi over the river is a god send. We checked out at 5am and the staff even had a lunchbox waiting for us! We can’t recommend this place enough.
very friendly staff, i was meeting a friend there and her taxi driver was confused as to where to drop her up. taxi called the hotel and arrange for a boat pick up straight from the car. make sure you save you drop of location on a map , taxi's have trouble finding it , made UBER and Grab riding apps very usefull.
Impressive service with unique history”
We were overwhelming with impressive service by hotel staffs since the very first step from boat transfer to welcome and room service. And with the history and heritage building like this, made our stay a joyful experience. But the hotel should improve breakfast and service in the morning, too limited choice of breakfast compare to room price. After all nice stay with heritage experience.
Lovely traditional hotel”
Lovely traditional hotel with tons of history. Can only access by boat which would be a little annoying if you were there for a while and wanted to pop in and out, although you are given a mobile to contact them whenever you need them. A few cracks but the place is so charming you can forgive this as it is so unique. Very relaxing and the staff all go over and above to be helpful.
