Digital travel platform Agoda today released its first “Japan’s New Horizons” list of fast rising destinations. The study, which compares year-on-year search data between 2022 and 2023 highlights emerging destinations that have seen noteworthy growth in interest by travelers inside and outside of Japan.
Topping the list is Fukuoka, which experienced a dramatic 46% surge in searches, followed by Hiroshima with a 39% increase. Sendai, Kobe, and Fujikawaguchiko also feature prominently, with search increases of 37%, 33%, and 28%, respectively.
