Agoda: Tokyo most popular global destination for family travel

Tokyo is the most in-demand global destination for family travel, digital travel platform Agoda reveals based on early 2023 searches for family travel. Interest in Japan’s capital is especially high in Thailand and Taiwan, where Tokyo ranks as the top outbound destination. Domestically, Tokyo also tops the list, followed by Osaka and Okinawa.
According to Agoda’s data, Tokyo and Osaka were the top domestic destinations for family travelers, followed by Okinawa and Kyoto. When going abroad, Seoul, Singapore and Bangkok are favorites for Japanese families. While on vacation, Agoda’s Family Travel Trend Survey – which polled over 14,000 family travelers from 12 markets globally – found that the top three family attractions were visiting landmarks, spending time at the beach, and enjoying a fun day at an amusement park.
