Agoda’s latest survey reveals family travel preferences for upcoming holidays

Israelis are travelling abroad to mark the upcoming holidays in October, according to a new survey conducted by Agoda.com, which reveals that 36% of the Israelis are planning a vacation during the upcoming holidays. The new Agoda Israel Family Travel Survey study indicated trends and preferences among Israelis when planning a family vacation.

Cost is the most important consideration for 50% of Israelis when going travelling with family. This is followed by attractions and activities at the destination (26%), distance between accommodations and activities (12%), food and restaurants at the destination (8%) and finally, facilities at the accommodation (5%).

 

The ideal family vacation for Israelis

Nearly a quarter of respondents (22%) like to visit somewhere new, while 38% of travellers like to visit somewhere that something for everyone in the family to do. These were also more important than connecting with nature (15%), having a relaxing beach holiday (14%) and a sporty getaway only appealed to 11%.

 

Israelis are most looking forward to spending quality time with their loved ones (43%) and taking a break from work (29%) while travelling with their families. Culinary adventures were the least of their priorities (4%), while 16% reported that they are looking forward to enjoying new experiences and activities, learning about new cultures (8%).

For those travelling in October, the shortest period of time they were going away for is three days, and 7 out of 10 were travelling for at least a week, while 21.5% were vacationing for a longer period of 8 to 14 days.

 

 

Other Survey Findings

 

Segmentation by gender – Almost 50% of women stated that they are looking forward to the vacation in order to spend more time with the family, as compared to 38.8% of the men. Men were more interested in seeking new experiences (19.6%) and learning new cultures (10%) while holidaying, as compared to 12.5% and 5.9% of women respectively.

The survey was conducted by Geocartography among 500 men and women, aged 18+, comprising a national and representative sample of the adult population in Israel.
