Indonesians Flock To Bali and Tokyo Before Ramadan

As Indonesians prepare for Holy Month Ramadan that falls in mid-May, the month also presents three public holidays, Labor Day (1 May), Ascension of Christ (10 May) and Vesak (29 May) and Agoda – the fastest growing global online booking platform – reveals Indonesians are taking advantage of the extra time off to get away. Agoda’s latest booking data shows travelers are hitting Bali’s world famous beaches, ASEAN capital cities in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand or less crowded retreats such as Yogyakarta and Bandung.

As Labor Day and Ascension of Christ fall on Tuesday and Thursday respectively, travelers only need to take a day off to enjoy a four day break and treat themselves to a last leisurely long weekend before Fasting month begins.
While Bali takes the top spot in the Top Ten Destinations for these two public holidays, other Indonesian destinations in the Top 10 include Yogyakarta (#3), Bandung (#6) and Jakarta (#8). Those traveling further afield are taking in the bright city lights, shopping and culinary havens of Tokyo (#2), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, and Seoul.
