First hotel to open in Mrauk U - in 1995! Great family.”
Prince Hotel was the first hotel to ever open in Mrauk U, back in the days where I imagine would be really difficult to travel to this region. Given the recent fighting between Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army, the hotel has done everything to ensure the safety of its guests. Great family, great breakfast, and really good food here. Support small business owners!
No wifi and no mobile connection”
Everything was ok and the hostess was very nice except for the fact the wifi option proved to be fake, and due to location a bit aside from the town there was no mobile connection. That was critical for me as I work teaching online, so I had to cancel all my lessons and lost a lot of money. Staying there was pretty expensive for me. If Internet connection is critical for you, I advise Happy Garden.
Great place in Mrauk U”
Room was nice and authentic and cool also during lunch time. Staff was really helpful and the organised tour to Chin villages was really great. Try to eat prawn curry in the evenning. It is really tasty and better than all other options in town.
This family-run hotel provides excellent service and comfort for their guests. I loved the garden dining area. The food was *incredible* (a bit pricey, but well worth it) and the coffee was the best I've tasted in 3 years of living in Myanmar. Be prepared when you order food that it will take about an hour for it be ready as they make everything fresh from scratch. My friend and I were there just after Thingyan and had some trouble securing transportation out of Mrauk Oo, but the staff went above and beyond to get us where we needed to go. The hotel is not located very close to any of the major attractions, but it's easy enough to bike around.
Would go there again”
We really enjoyed our stay at Prince Hotel. We enjoyed sitting at the long community table in the courtyard chatting with other travelers and eating good food. The staff was very friendly too. Rooms are equipped with mosquito nets. It can get quite cold at night (travelled in early January), so bring warm clothes!
Best hotel in Mrauk U”
Staff are super friendly. All of the customers are like family when we gather together for breakfast and dinner. To be honest this hotel serves the best food in Mrauk U. Highly recommended. Rooms are basic but good enough.
wery good staff and manager”
it was a very good value for money, just a stroll from downtown. the manager woman was very good, she helped me to book my plane ticket and she even made me save 20$. i would really recommend this place and its staff and manager!
Nice hotel and food”
I slept in a dorm very well kept. Nice garden. Nice food. Organises trip to Chin villages. Only bad point is that it is a little bit out of the center so you will probably eat in the hotel (which has.delicious food).
Great Value for Money”
The Prince is currently renovating and doing a fabulous job. It is easy to see the owners vision for the rooms and the gardens. He has an eye for the style of the people who inhabit that region. The staff is very friendly and attentive, the owner is a gem. If you get the opportunity to chat him, do so, you will learn a lot about the region and Myanmar. The breakfast was good and the pancakes are divine. Dinner is also available. Mrauk U is still a bit of a frontier, so finding a friendly, clean hotel at a reasonable price was a bonus. We highly recommend The Prince.
Get a free upgrade to a big, new room. Good breakfast, egg, toast or pancackes, bananas..... The Dinner was also great! The staff is very frendly and help you with everything (bus tickets, sim card) You can rent bicycle for 2000 per day. Just 10min to walk is a really nice sunset hill.
thumbs up for the staffs!”
pros: cheapest hotel in Mrauk U (using online platforms), booked an 8bed dorm but they put me on a 2bed dorm, huge room and T&B plus with a veranda/balcony, rented a bike for more than 6hrs but they charged me for only half a day, free bottled water upon check-in, plenty of breakfast (2 crepes or pancakes in their terms,1 toast, 1 banana and Burmese coffee) in their garden, a bed net is provided against mosquitoes which is very rampant in Mrauk U cons: fixtures need some updating, location is just by the hi-way so you could here the buses etc passing by (though this doesn't hinder me from having a good sleep)
Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Each and everyone made this a memorable visit with caretaking and personal interest ind the guests. Also the food was the real stuff, and by far the best during my visit to Myanmar. Do not miss out if you visit Mrauk-U. They will take such good care of you. Big hugs to them all.
Stayed here 4 nights. Rustic, with large rooms and convenient location. Great meals cooked to order. Quiet location with easy walking distance to many sights. Best sunrise view in Mrauk U just 15-20min walk away. Excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend!
Ask to have your dinner here. Best food! Staff was helpful and kind. They do a great job. Prince is beautiful as well. The landscaping is nice. On rainy mornings it was really nice to sit on the covered porches outside the rooms. I would definitely recommend!
Spacious rooms and a nice garden”
The hotel is nicely located in a green garden within walking distance of the town center. Some small stands where you can get snacks and drinks can be found around the corner at the main road. Bikes to explore the surroundings can be rented directly at the hotel. The room was spacious and clean and the beds comfortable. A mosquito net was provided and should be used to avoid bites at night. The rooms located close to the road might be a bit too noisy for some travellers due to loud trucks and honking bikes on the main road starting around 5:30 to 6 o'clock. The bath was very big and clean. Unfortunately hot water was not always available. There might be certain times during the day that should be preferred to take a shower. The staff was very warm and friendly and gave helpful hints to discover the sites. They also gladly arranged taxi pickups or tours. Breakfast was fine and plenty, dinner was really tasty and easy to arrange.
really enjoyed my stay here”
Loved the atmosphere and felt very welcome. Family run - and everyone tries very hard to make your stay the best possible. There are no frills - expect fairly basic, but comfortable and clean rooms. Bicycles and guides for hire, and a wealth of tourist and travel information available about the region - just ask.
Loved our stay!”
We have no hesitation in recommending the Prince Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay here - excellent food in a communal dining table in the garden, to the excellent advice, and guides if needed.
Best in Mrauk U”
I stayed 4 nights at the Prince and would stay again. It is run by a very friendly family and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The food is very much above average especially if you have dinner there. It is very good to be served with fresh vegetables and salads. I will stay there again if I go to Mrauk U.
A little out of the way, but good people”
A little rundown, but they're rebuilding at the moment. Rooms are big and have huge balcony areas. The staff are a lot of fun, as it's a family run business. Having a few beers and roaring at the local football matches on TV was a great time. We all shared travel stories over lunch the day I arrived, and they were prompt and knowledgable with any of my enquiries. Don't expect too much in Mrauk U and you'll be a happy camper.
The best place to stay in Mrauk U!”
Accommodation in Mrauk U is limited and therefore can be seen as expensive however we were not disappointed with our stay at Prince Hotel. It is family run and the staff were absolutely superb; friendly, knowledgeable and very very helpful. If you stay at Prince Hotel you must eat with them in the evening. The food we had during our stay was probably the best and most traditional food we had in all of Burma and the meal itself was a great occasion to speak with all the other guests and the staff. There were even people coming in from the other hotels to eat at Prince hotel. The accommodation does require significant updating but we wouldn't have stayed anywhere else. Thank you to the staff for helping us organising our trip further north. We would have struggled on our own as we were the only westerners up there!
