for a hostel, the most important is to make it as comfortable as it is for a guest, but the hostel not in favor in this, I was arrived at the morning and the checking is on the afternoon, so I mentioned should I can check in now, the staff mentioned should check in afternoon. I am find with that and I ask could I put my luggage here first, but the hostel charge 5 Euro for each bag, I will stay at the same day, but hostel still charge us, I am travel around Europe for a month plus, this is the first hostel with this kind of policies, I did understand some hostel charge quest when they are leaving and put the luggage on the hostel, but this hostel with charge in front, I really first time experience it.
Ok for budget days”
The night I booked it was so cheap so can't complain. Dorm room quite small but stayable, kitchen is small but somehow has almost everything, just not oven. Bed and linens are away from white washed, just pray that it's ok. Staff are nice enough I think. The place is small but to my experience, it's easier to meet and talk people, and this was so. Met nice people here.
Good budget place”
The first room I was assigned was a little messy, but I had to be switched to a new room, and it was much cosier :) I believe the room I got was the cheapest currently available in Amsterdam, so all in all, no complaints :)
excellent value for money good location”
arrived at the hotel tired but check in made easy with the hotel staff. the room was very comfortable and clean and tidy with clean bedsheets. all in all this is budget hotel is great value for money and i would definately recommend this for a stay.
The location of the hostel was super great!!! And also, the staff were very very helpful!
Unfriendly staff and very dirty”
The blond girl on the reception was very unfriendly. She didn’t even say good bye on my check out. I arrived there 30 mins before check in with my heavy luggage. She told me that I cannot have early check in and that I cannot wait in the hostel but I can go wait in the nearby Starbucks. I asked her if I can leave my luggage there for 30 mins - she said yes but you must pay 5 euros. So I had to take my heavy luggage with me and there is no elevator. I have traveled to almost 100 countries in the world and I never experienced something like this. The whole place is run down and very dirty. Rooms are full of dust and showers are probably never cleaned. On my floor 2 out of 3 showers were out of function. All sinks were clogged with human hair. This place was a nightmare and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!
When it comes down to it , people matter most. Staff really go out of their way to make your stay as good as it can be . Excellent to be able to spend time with fellow travellers. All this at an affordable cost and in Central AMSTERDAM.
I ll never recommend this hotel as I feel cheated. I was charged Euro 5 per bag for keeping luggage as I arrived 4 hours before checking time. I was charged Euro 3.2 as city tax. I didn't pay city tax in other hotels in Amsterdam. Toilet is very small n smelly.
The room is dirty ”
I book through agoda room for 2 bed, however, got dormitory fir 4 pax. Agago advertise different from hostel offer. Both hve prob w the system. Totally not recommended this hostel. But, i shud give a credit to friendly staff
For the price, it was ok considering this is Amsterdam. I had a private room with double bed. However, a few minor changes would greatly improve this budget hotel such as - properly cleaning the toilets at least twice a day. I used a piece of the toilet paper and cleaning spray I found in the toilet, and within 1 minute the toilet was instantly a lot cleaner - the staff paid to do this could do the same. Fix the showers so there is hot water. I had a freezing cold shower one morning, which was actually quite enjoyable in a surprising way (good for the skin), however, hot water needs to be available in a hotel, even though a cold shower is in fact better your body :)
Ok, Nice Location, 50m to the nearest Tram Station,”
Not Clean at all in the room, there are so many rubbish below the bed fram, so dusty. Toilet Hot Shower not so effective. Left my stuff in the bedroom, unfortunately, i cannot find back after check out.
Clean and nice place to sleep”
The room is clean and tidy, not really big room. Our room located in lower ground with a small window There is tea and coffee provided in lobby. On the first day , the AC was not working, the staff provided a fan. It was fix during the second day. It is not located in center of AMS but the tram station is nearby, ~3min walk. I feel safe to walk around the hotel at night . The wifi signal is not strong and fast enough, almost no wifi.
Good value for money”
This is the cheapest hotel that you can find in the city center of Amsterdam. However, it is totally not recommended if you are bringing heavy luggage as there is no elevator as well as only narrow stairs available.
Great Value for Money”
Since there are many attractions in Amsterdam, you would be spending most of your time within the city center itself. All you would need is a bed to sleep in and a washroom to clean yourself and this is what Princess Hostel has. The space is rather small and can be claustrophobic, but like I mentioned earlier, you wouldn't be spending too much time in the hostel. The hostel is very affordable to a backpacker.
A foreign hostel with lack of basic faciliities”
The staff doesn't speak Dutch. Late check-in while you have to pay extra when you want to leave luggage. The plumbing was not clean. Lack of eating or lounge facilities. The rooms were small. A reduced price for a 4 bedroom of € 45 in high season is still far overvalued with this quality
Value for money, happily impressed”
My boyfriend and I stayed in a 4 bed dorm which was amazing value. The bed had clean sheets, the showers and toilet had been cleaned recently and location was amazing. Don't expect too much at this price and you will be fine. Note there was really steep stairs up to the dorm so if you have poor mobility I wouldn't recommend.
Great location and specific staff”
Location is in walking distance to vondel Park and inner city. Cleanliness is ok, though the place is a bit run down. Staff is either amazing (Spanish guy (sorry forgot your name) and Chris (night shift)) okay in a helpful yet uninterested manner. I’ve made wonderful human connections with my room mates there, which was awesome. Unforgettable memories and a fun time will always be tied to my stay at the princess hostel Amsterdam. Thanks!
Very unorganised and dirty”
Despite good location, the hostel is mostly left uncared by staffs. The rooms and balconies were consisted of small garbage/trash from prior customers or the employees themselves. The sleep wares provided are satisfiable, but the top bed I stayed was without side steel guard that prevent unfortunate falls. Kitchen, although there is one, is extremely small that it can only fit around three people at a time. Overall, it is one hotel that is good value for the money mostly benefited from a goodnlocation. However, the facilities could be better overlooked by more active and service minded staffs.
Basic, basic, basic”
The Princess Hostel was a less than satisfactory experience. For the cost of the one bedroom I would have thought more would be provided than a chair and a bed with a slidey mattress & thin bedding. The floor was only lightly vacuumed where noticible and the one large window would not close, an important factor considering the room faced onto a main road. The TV, although working, was only set to Dutch terrestrial but luckily the WiFi is speedy enough for Netflix, etc.. Accessibility was with a key card (one euro deposit on booking in) which was, admittedly, easier to carry around than keys. The shared facilities were clean enough but whose idea was it to house shower and toilet in the same small cupboard. Wet floor and the hazards encountered were more from lazy guests but try to use the loo and you have to battle the protruding sink and a wonky toilet seat. The staff were mostly friendly, the cleaning staff, but the desk staff were aloof, unfriendly and somewhat patronising.
Good Value for money. Good location, just above tram station which goes to Central station in 10 min”
Good location, above the tram station and 15 minutes walk to Dam Square. Good value for money. Cleanliness needs improvement. Our floor only shared toilet was out of order since 2 days and wasn't repair in 2 days when I was there. Curtains were not proper so can't sleep after 6:30 am in summer.
