Great staff and stay! ”
The stay and service was great. The rental bikes were also a great way to see Hiroshima. I only stayed here for one night. Also, the cafe had a nice breakfast in the morning. Anyways, only complaint was when I sat up straight on my bed or on my knees my head was close and/or touching the ceiling. I would come back.
Cheap, nice, close to train station hostels”
If you already didn't know, staying in a hostel in Japan is usually a nice experience. This place was no different. The shower and bathroom were very clean and stocked with all the goods. The cafe had great coffee and snacks. The bunk/capsule was super comfortable and private. All this at a great price very close to the train station. Its also not to far from the baseball stadium if you want to catch a Carp game.
Good location, nice staff, clean place. Poor facilities”
Place is clean, near the train station, staff are nice. However, there’s only 1 cr for male. And the biggest 👎🏻 For me is the shared kitchen and lounge. It closes at 10pm and opens at 8am. So if you came home late in the evening, you will have to go straight to your bed. The shared kitchen has a different entrance than the rooms which makes it a hassle if you want to make a cup of coffee. You have to go outside then enter the cafe. Hope they can do something about this
Coffee dream ”
One of the cheapest backpacker hostels in Hiroshima. Conveninetly located a few minutes walk to the station. Friendly staff, super clean room/hostel, comfy beds. The place to stay in Hiroshima to meet other travellers. The highlight of Akicafe Inn is the cafe set up & run by Oyumi. One of the best tasting coffees in Japan, and a great menu - omlette sandwiches were oishii!
The comfiest hostel I’ve stayed in Japan”
The location is smack in Hiroshima city, just 3 minutes walk from Hiroshima station (take the South Exit). The staff was friendly and able to speak English well. You can leave your luggage at the lobby if you arrive before the check in time (but do bring your valuables with you). They offer rental bicycle too for 500yen which is very useful as attractions in Hiroshima city is easily doable in one day on bicycle. Unlike other hostel where you sleep on futons or makeshift matress, this sleeping pod offers real mattress and a blackout curtain (the pillow is kinda ok). There’s even a storage compartment too at the bed (however use your own locks) I fell asleep comfortably after a long tiring day at Miyajima. Definitely will stay again if I visit Hiroshima.
Excellent location, fair as a budget hostel but not worthy”
It is quite close to Hiroshima Shinkansen, JR and Hiroshima Hiroden stop. Many choices for food. Convenience stores nearby for refreshment. The facilities of the hostel are new and tidy. Cafe and public area located on the ground floor are huge enough. Daily necessities are provided by charges (a bit expensive e.g. 1 large towel charges you ¥150. Better prepare yours.). There are a lot of rooms on a floor but each floor only had 2 shower rooms, 1 toilet and 2 sinks. Drinking water is not provided so you have to refill it downstairs on the floor. Laundry is provided. The sleeping area is fair but a bit small. A bit hot inside the sleeping deck. The pillow is too soft while the blanket is a bit thick for me. Allow to check out yourself and leave your luggages on the ground floor. You feel free to take them all the time you want (good arrangement!). Kind reminder: No lift! All in all, as a hostel, quite good even though facilities are not enough. But it is a bit expensive for charging around ¥4000/night!
Location is great around the corner of the train station. You can simply walk to the monuments and the castle and enjoy the city. There is a great cafe downstairs, additionally all the facilities you need to stay longer (kitchen, etc)
Best hostel I’ve been to!!! The location is spot on- just a 2 minutes walk from the central hiroshima station great staff! Definitely recommend:)
Excellent place for solo traveler”
I came to Hiroshima alone and expected to be alone on my whole trip. But thanks to Guesthouse Akicafe, i've made wonderful friends who are very inspirational. Also, The staff was friendly and helpful. And it took me only 3 to 4 minutes walk to the station. ( note that i walked really slowly :))) So, if you don't mind small space and to make new friends, it's ideal place for you.
Perfect for me”
I loved everything and I would definitely use this place if I ever visit Hiroshima again:) reasonable price, nice staff, clean bed and other facilities. I liked curtain that fits the shape of bed flame so that no light came inside bed while sleeping or inside own bed. Also design was pretty and cozy so very relaxing. I give 10 out of 10:)
Amazing, simple accommodation at a very affordable price.”
Booked last minute on a day trip down to Hiroshima and had one of the best hostel experiences of my life. It's simple, affordable accommodation with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The reception staff told me the hostel had reopened after remodeling three weeks before my stay and the quality of the fitout is outstanding. The rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean and stocked with basic amenities like body wash and shampoo. The are coin operated washing machines and dryers near the rooms and towels are available to rent from reception. Less than 5 minutes walk from the main JR/Shinkansen station, the hostel is also near the tram stop for the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and docks. Hijiyama Park is also within easy walking distance and worth a visit if you've half a morning to spare. The staff were all friendly and had great suggestions for local attractions and activities. There's also a cute little cafe on the ground floor that has great barista coffee and a reasonably pr
Shower room is pretty small
Great location near public transit”
Very close to the JR station, and right next to a trolley stop (so you can easily get to most of Downtown Hiroshima). It was also very clean and comfortable -- I liked the kotatsu in the living room. The guest workers were very friendly. One complaint I have is that there were only two showers, and at night it was sometimes hard to wait for a shower to open up.
Not so good place to stay”
Bad things: - pretty dirty place comparing to other Japanese hostels - no place to wash your face or brush your teeth (you have to do it in the kitchen sink) - pillows are not pillows. I have no idea what was that - difficult to sleep in the morning even with earplugs. Staff starts to do other's bed in the early morning Good things: - location was very good - Rie the manager was very kind and helpful. She even invited me to a bar with her friends, I really enjoyed that evening!
There is really nothing I could complain about my stay in akicafe! I loved this hostel. The staff is really so kind, the beds are so comfortable (and new), there is free tee, coffee and towels, super nintendo,... :D meeting other travellers was great. And hey, the location is so good when you travel by train! Plain recomendation!
Nice and friendly place”
Very close to the station. Nice place with good beds. Lots of details like facial cleanser, towels, chargers for free make it even more convenient to stay there. The only disadvantage is the fact that the mixed dorm has no window at all. Makes it a bit sticky.
Friendly and convenient dorm next to train station.”
Akicafe is a small hostel literally 5 seconds away from Hiroshima JR train station. I stayed in the female dorm, the bed was comfy, with a personal light and outlet. the room is clean, but a bit cramped, this is normal for Japan, so no complaints. Two Japanese washlet toilets, two sinks and two showers with hot shower, free towels and toiletries. There are small lockers in the common area. The kitchen is a bit small, it has a washer and drier, free coffee and tea, common sitting area with tatami, kotatsu (oh yeahhhhh!!!), tv and games, board games, manga, etc... the staff is super friendly and helpful, fluent in Japanese, English and Chinese. You can rent a bike. What else? Go there and enjoy Hiroshima!!
Nice and homey”
The owner was very kind, even after being awoken by me early in the morning to put my luggage. I like that all beds have a curtain for privacy. It's a homey feeling and staff are all friendly. Highly recommended.
Great stay for female travellers on a budget ”
My friend and I came for 3 days and 2 nights. We really enjoyed the convenience of this hostel. it is a very quiet hostel but with bicycle rental it was so easy getting to downtown. 500¥ a day for easy exploration in a bike friendly city. We didn't eat at the hostel, but there were so riverside cafes about 10 minutes away that are very cute. Just make sure to get up early, there is 1 dorm for women and 1 dorm that is mixed. This means showers (2) and sinks (2) are very busy in the morning. I suggest bringing your own little mirror for makeup. (^^) If I come to Hiroshima again I will definitely stay in the Akicafe inn
lovely guesthouse :)”
I highly recommend this guesthouse! clean, nice interior, kind staff :)
