Great Hotel Amazing Staff Fabulous Facilities Excellent location ”
Great Hotel excellent position for discovering Exeter, friendly Staff, Pool inside/out lovely garden. Negatives Parking very limited nearby Pay car park, unable to have treatments in the Spa Fully Booked with Non resident guests a little disappointing !!!! Lesson learnt Book in Advance Definitely will return Thank you Staff at Hotel Du Vin 🤗
See you again :-) ”
Highly recommended and will definitely stay again. A very well renovated period property with great interior design. Good facilities and very pleasant and helpful staff.
Absolutely fabulous hotel with first class facilities and wonderful staff.”
This converted former hospital has style aplenty whilst retaining the character of this historic building. It's beautifully decorated throughout, great lounge, snug library and bar with welcoming open fires. The pool is small but it's amazing to be able to swim outside. All the staff were amazing, they literally couldn't do enough for us.
The Hotel du Vin chain is not what it used to be, sadly. ”
The hotel is in a lovely old building like the others in the chain. The rooms , however, are very bland and very much have the stamp of a profit seeking chain. Gone are the individual quirky rooms of old, now you could be in a holiday Inn. My room was too hot and the windows did not open and the air con did not seem to work. The bathroom very very tired and the paint around the windows was old and dirty .The room was very brown . The bed was ok but the pillows were cheap and lumpy. The good points were the Bath, very comfortable and lots of hot water. They allowed my dog and this surprised me. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
First Choice for Hotel in Exeter”
Everything is beyond our expectation. but very limited complimentary car park.
Last minute over night stay”
It was very last minute we decided to stay over in Exeter for my husbands 30th birthday. This hotel just made our weekend even better, the out door pool was a lovely touch, the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. It’s a gorgeous hotel and would recommend anyone to stay here.
I spent a night in this hotel recently. I had stayed in one of their hotels elsewhere in the past so I knew what to expect. I quite liked everything about this particular hotel du vin, better than the previous one I stayed at. Friendly staff right from the reception, restaurant etc. Had dinner which was great, nice hot breakfast. Room was nice and I love the quaint layout of the studio room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Hotel has a nice garden where you can sit to have a drink..Great location- close to the city centre. I will definitely stay at this hotel again and again. 4* hotel but definitely better than a few 5* hotels I have stayed at.
Lovely hotel and what you’d expect for this price range”
Lovely facilities with a perfectly warm inside outside pool. Close to the main road but so quiet.
Thank you for your lovely comments - we hope to welcome you back soon. Kind regards Fiona Darde
except for pool, a very nice hotel”
The pool is not an indoor pool, as advertised, but rather an outdoor pool (with c. 6' of it being a very narrow part inside, which flows into the small outside pool). However, the staff was incredibly accommodating and called the Mercure across the street. They granted me swimming privileges in their lovely pool. staff at Hotel du Vin was superb, especially Charlotte, who arranged for this alternative place to swim. It is a lovely old building in need of some finishing touches, but one that will in time be outstanding.
Thank you for your feedback - our pool is more of a leisure pool for relaxation and enjoyment rather than a lap pool,. the indoor element is to enjoy the massaging water jets. I am glad Charlotte was able to facilitate your request. Kind regards Fiona Darde
Stopped over for a 1 night midweek break. Enjoyed a complimentary room upgrade. ”
Josh in reception was really welcoming and helpful. Hotel interior very contemporary and fun. I used the outdoor heated pool which was great and the jacuzzi. The hotel is in a fantastic location only a 5 minute stroll into Exeter city centre. I opted out of the breakfast when booking my room as it was over £15 extra which is too much for breakfast considering the 2 adults dine for £39 with wine offer they had on. Limited parking (literally 8 spaces!) which is a shame but the site is small at the front. I arrived early at 10.45am and got s space as someone was checking out.
Stayed at his hotel when it's was The Magdelane Chapter and it was wonderful so waves item to go back for a weekend treat to a luxury hotel. We arrived at 10pm butt the rm was not clean sour milk down they side of the table, holes and stains on the the bedding. Moved to another room supposedly superior but it didn't look any different to us, same problem stained bedding hair in the bed sand around the bath tub, stained rugs at the sides of the bed and so munchkin dust under the bed. Breakfast was Q knows but again it not very clean table could have done with being wiped properly before being relaid. We were so disappointed .
Pleasant staff, good food”
Although parking is limited ( about 12 cars ) the local car park is within easy walking distance.Staff outstanding very helpful and informative, would certainly stay again
Good place, excellent location, excellent facilities. Bit expensive and, because of the size of it and the internal decoration, difficult to keep as clean looking as it deserves”
Beautiful building. Would stay there again. I am always disappointed by the cleanliness of rooms when I stay in hotels as there are always cobwebs in corners and dust under the bed which shows a lack of care and attention. As someone who suffers form allergies these things matter to me. Staff were excellent throughout, especially in the resturant
Brilliant Gem in the Heart of Exeter”
Hotel du Vin is known throughout the UK as a quirky 'boutique-ish' hotel (it is not small like most boutiques - but scores high in intelligent design and bespoke environments). This Hotel du Vin in Exeter was no exception to that rule - bespoke with heated swimming pool where the water moves gently between the indoors and outdoors, excellent REN spa treatments (and products) and really great breakfasts (the new menu was a welcomed and very positive change - French vanilla yogurts (divine), poached egg and avocado (healthy and beautiful), a library and other meeting areas both public, private and semi-private. Precisely what the doctor ordered. Apparently there have been 'teething problems' from their recent take over of the hotel, and are rectifying some of the stranger aspects of the former hotel (like minute closets for the clothes) but apart from the clothes issues, we had a great stay. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful; lovely clean environment; restful and rejuvenating. Great at all levels and we've returned to London better for staying there.
Fine Hotel reception area needs improvement”
Enjoyed staying at the hotel facilities were great and staff very helpful. For the quality of a hotel such as this however we were disappointed with the entrance foyer and reception areas . We understand hotel du vin have only recently taken over so hopefully they will address this as they have with their other hotels.
Clean friendly hotel ”
Very helpful staff. Lovely clean, good breakfast amazing pool. Very relaxing stay
Great for a weekend”
Great, wouls recommend for a weekend break
Quality Empasis missing”
Parking was limited and I complained to the reception. I asked for my complaint to be passed to the Duty Manager and feedback to be given. No one contacted us. Service at dinner was very slow. We were overcharged for our dinner. We opted for breakfast outside but was continually asking for items. Took the shine off the stay.
