Gorgeous property where no detail was too small”
This is a beautiful property, set in a lovely tea plantation catering to a boutique luxury traveller set. We (a group of women) stayed here as part of our girls trip and absolutely enjoyed it. No detail is too small here, the room is sumptuously and thoughtfully designed. We staying in the Tamarind suite, with our veranda overlooking the tree canopies as far as the eye can see. I am a birder, and easily saw over 31 species of birds just hanging in the balcony. The staff are delightful and the location so quiet and serene. (it helps that they dont accept children below 12 here). While being away, we were still able to get away for a dinner to Mirissa and back with no problems. The food was the only slight detractor, while the breakfast was faultless, the lunch and dinner menus are very limited and quite highly priced. I didnt feel the quality of the food lived up to the high expectations set otherwise.
I had a wonderful time there. Henry become like family member. I would go back there.
Lovely hotel in a very tranquil setting
Not worth the money”
There was no hot water for shower. The water is cold throughout my stay. At night there is a rat came into the room and it was horrifying when I woke up by the screaming of the rat. Wifi is very unstable. Given the location and price, I would not recommend
Simply the best place to stay in Sri Lanka. ”
The experience was exceptional, my boyfriend at the time was a misery so he spoilt things for me. With the right person it is a magical place to stay. Absolutely beautiful.
Wow! Just wow! ”
You should have seen the smile on my face when I saw my room. I was in the Araliya suite and it was gorgeous. It was perfect. The welcome (first time with Agoda and they were expecting me and had everything ready), the grounds, the food (pricey though), and the service were all perfection.
A fabulous experience”
Thoroughly relaxing and sumptuous
Amazing! The best place I have ever stayed in. We stayed in the Dubu suite, a room that is bigger than our London flat! We had our own private pool and gardens, a luxurious outdoor shower and beautiful four poster bed. The ceiling was hand carved wood. The service was incredible, nothing was left to chance, we went for breakfast, when we returned the room was clean, we went for dinner, when we returned the bed was turned down. The hotel is set atop a tea plantation and we spent many an hour watching people pick tea while monkeys, peacocks and all manner of birds fluttered in the trees. The food was amazing quality and the staff we very friendly, always asking how we were and if we needed anything. There is the option for massages, yoga and excursions. Pure indulgent luxury, book as long as you can there, you wont regret it!
A paradise amongst paradise”
An absolute gem of a place! Set amongst a beautiful tea estate above the jungle and not far from the beach, this was the perfect place to end our heavenly two weeks in Sri Lanka. We only stayed for one night only and I only wish it could have been longer. We had the beautiful Garden Suite which was filled with antiques and artwork as well as a stunning four-poster bed. I spotted the rat snake in our interior shower garden. I mentioned it to the manager who immediately send someone to look at it and confirm that our bathroom was snake free (I have a bit of a phobia otherwise I wouldn't mind). The outdoors rain shower in the garden is an experience. It was the little finishing touches that made this place exceptional (the flowers on the bed, the robe and slippers in the dresser, the umbrellas and sun hats provided in case you need them. We felt very well looked after. We went whale watching early in the morning and the chef prepared us two lovely packed lunches so we wouldn't miss breakfast. They also allowed us to check out much later (3pm) at no extra cost because no one was requiring the suite after us which was very kind and much appreciated. As it was off-season, the place was nearly empty and it felt like we had it to ourselves. The staff were incredibly attentive yet discreet and even the construction works that were going on in the background barely disrupted the tranquil atmosphere. The food at dinner was excellent and they mixed us a nice couple of cocktails. This is the perfect place for couples or solo travellers, families with children might get a bit restless being away from the action but for us it was flawless. Everything was so tastefully put together, I especially loved the 'lounge/bar' area full of antiques and curiosities with a view over the estate.
First time in Sri Lanka! ”
Quite, secluded, Restfull not much else to do but lay back and rest.
A treat to stay here”
The hillside location above Koggala Lake is stunning, amid the tea plantations and lush greenery. The menu is limited but the food is excellent. Lots of books to read in open-air lounge area. The owner takes keen personal interest in your comfort and wellbeing. The rooms are beautifully designed in separate (or adjoining) cottages and the open-air shower for each room is very attractive. Extremely quiet location and a great place to unwind. Free wifi everywhere.
Great hotel, location, food but average service”
Enjoyable 2 night stay!”
We had a very enjoyable 2 night stay, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious! Both our bathrooms were outside and as it was so hot and humid no sooner had you showered you needed another one due to the temperature in the bathroom being so hot! Ask for a villa with inside bathrooms with aircon!
far too expensive for such a place.”
Far too expensive for such a place. Very unfriendly staff. Room was not well maintained. The hotel was empmty the first night, only another couple the second night. Pool could not be used. It has not been cleaned for a while.
Fantastic hotel in lovely rural location”
A carefully designed boutique hotel overlooking forests and tea plantations, with views to Koggola Lagoon. Stayed in the 'Peacock' pavilion which is huge and airy, with twin outside shower-rooms and its own private garden. There are separate pavilions for lounging and dining, and a beautiful infinity pool. The owner George Cooper is charming and has attended to all the details, from the interesting collection of books to the stylish mix of modern and antique furniture, pictures and artifacts. Away from the noise and bustle of Galle to truly relax, but close enough for the beaches and sights if you can exert yourself to move. Highly recommended.
Lovely hotel in great location ”
We had a very relaxing stay, we stayed in a wooden Balinese house that was in the middle of a lush garden with a pool. In front of our garden was a vista with a lake and trees for as far as the eye could see. In the evening you can hear the sounds of monks chanting in the distance while you sit on your verandah and just enjoy the stillness all around
Amazing hotel amazing service - Perfect”
One of the most special hotels that I have ever stayed at. From the moment you arrive to your unfortunate departure you will love every minute. A relaxing hotel who will cater to your every need.
Stunning hotel, in pradise!”
this place is simply stunning! the charming owner george has created a simply stunning, stylish place to stay in paradise. our room was amazing, with the private terrace offering a brilliant view of the tea plantation and surrounding jungle, which was full of birds and other wildlife. the staff were attentive and the food was excellent; the crab curry and rice & curry were absolutely delicious. the pool is very fresh and has a spectacular view, overlooking the surrounding tea plantation and beyond. we stayed here as a real treat and we were delighted with what we got. it might not be cheap but you really do get what you pay for. we hope to return to this magical place again one day.
