Great location, clean, more expensive than most ho”
Western dorm=bathroom in the dorm. Bathroom is the standard small one with just enuf room for the shower and wc, not enuf hooks in the bathroom for hanging ur towel. There are 6 beds in our dorm, most beds have 2 electrical sockets at the bedhead. no towels r provided, the lift operates only til 9pm so if u have a lot of luggage, make sure u get in by 9pm. Room has a heater in case it gets too cold. I stayed here for 6 nights, it's run by a bunch of enthusiastic young people. More expensive than other hostels due to the location i think.
Fantastic!”
Initially had a difficulty of locating the apartment. It was just few minutes from Shijo Gion Station. This was literally in the heart of Gion Area. Near the Yasaka Shrine. Lots of buses to go around different shrines. The bed was comfortable. The staff was really nice. They woke up early to accommodate my early checkout.
Great and comfortable stay!”
Travelling with my mom and sis, it was difficult to get a room to ourselves during this peak period. Luckily Musubi-an was a great choice, even though it was shared with 3 other travellers. The last night was a little noisy, with the other guests travelling in and out of the room, without concern for the others resting. The guest house could work on dampening the doors, as it shuts back quite loudly - to solve the problem above. Other than that, I felt this place was very homey and cosy. I don't know how they managed to get a lift into the small premises, but it was a godsend instead of having to climb four flights of stairs every night. Toilets were well cleaned and most of the time there wasn't anyone sharing the toilets at the same time, so you had the place to yourself. Loved how we were largely undisturbed throughout our stay. The reception was warm, although a little bit difficult to communicate, but they were friendly. Would recommend this stay!
excellent location”
Could not ask for a better location, although the room was very cold when I stayed in April. The Wi-Fi was studying l strong & the bathroom was clean, but the toilets were in a bad state when I arrived, & they are on a different floor to the bedrooms. The staff were very practical & informative.
Cheap, clean, and chic!”
It was a fantastic experience! Totally within walking distance to do the things I wanted to do including seeing the Parasophia exhibition at the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, shopping on Shijo, people watching at Starbucks on Sanjo, etcetc. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The cafe downstairs was a great place to unwind and the healthy soups served were delicious as well! I noticed a few complaints regarding the comfort of the beds but they were totally fine for me and I easily had an 8 hour sleep.
A great little guesthouse. ”
Would recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a place to stay in Kyoto. Can't say enough about how great the location was. Only negative was the very hard bed due to thin mattresses. Otherwise, a fantastic place!
Nice guest house”
It was about 2 minutes walk from the subway exit, and very easy to find. The staff were nice, and the food (curry) was really good. I stayed in female dormitory room, it was clean. I recommend this guesthouse.
The most satisfied hostel ”
i surely will live in here again next time if i travel alone. i love this hostel and the staffs a lot. i feel easy to find this hostel and connect to many famous spots and kyoto station directly by bus nearby. The shower is good that there is small area for spa which is good for visitor to relax the body. Everything is prepared in room and free water can be requested from the staffs.
Just to have a rest for a while, not as a hotel or guest house”
No curtain around the bed shelves, Narrow space for ladder for upper shelves. No washer, no dryer. No ready bed.
Good and comfortable place”
A good hostel, berry recommend to experience.
Nice service with comfortable environment”
Cheap, good location, very clean”
Super good location ! The room is large and I think staying here is better than staying in a small room of hotel
Perfect location”
In the center of Gion. Perfect location.
Super good location and comfortable hostel ”
The bed is comfortable and clean. u can definitely has a good sleep there and the location is perfect
Nice place”
very comfortable and the staffs are very nice. just a little bit inconvenient about the bathroom and toilets are not on the same floor
Totally overpriced and worst you can get for your money”
Ladder is totally unpractical and dangerous, getting on top bed almost requests acrobatic skills. Plus the ceiling is lower right on the top of the ladder so you tap your head way to easily. No curtain on the top bed, which is really a pb with the light coming right on you, especially when most beds have no individual bed lights the ceiling light stays on very late. Doors are slamming violently so expect to be waken up many many times! No socket to charge your phone per bed, only 2 plugs per room of 6! No locker or no towels included in the price (and lockers are not in the room). No real living area outside of the bedroom itself, apart from the hallway and don't expect anything cosy or fancy, looks more like everything is made to make you stay out of the hostel! The place might be clean, although you could not really tell with this brown stained carpeting all over, even on the toilet seat.In the end was the most expensive, disconfortable and gloomy place I stayed in Japan
Not a good hostel”
The location is good and close to subway and the city market. The place was also clean. The beds were very bad and could almost not fit in the room. I am glad that I got to sleep in one of the lower beds since the climb to the upper beds were ratherrather difficult. A bit annoying that showers were on a different floor. The staff were friendly, but not very helpful.
Compromises”
Great view of the Kamogawa, near the Gion/Shijo intersection and so near the train, but a bit far from the nearest subway station. I stayed in the Japanese style female dormitory room, which was clean but hot (somehow adjusting the A/C did not help), fairly crowded with four people. The shower room was clean and modern, very nice. There was a funky smell throughout, though. A strong food smell downstairs and on the shower floor (2nd floor), and a strong funky/tatami smell in the sleeping room. I love the fresh tatami smell, but this was just a bit over on the other side of that.
Location”
Great location and awesome staff!”
Had good dinner and sleep. Thanks :-)
