Bad road seen better days overpriced”
Good pool nice environment Hard to fet to and unprofessional staff
Beautiful, peaceful stay!”
I stayed in the treehouse and had a lovely stay - thank you! Each of the staff are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The swimming pool is beautiful - I only wish I had more time to lay there and enjoy the sound of nature surrounding it! The treehouse had a beautiful outlook across the fields and towards Lion Rock, and it was equipped with everything I needed. The breakfasts were also lovely - the sweet pancakes being my favourite! Highly recommended!
Great place, with friendly owners and staff. Very relaxing atmosphere.”
I would stay there again for sure.
Paradise in Sigiria”
We stayed in a tree house for 3 days and we had such great time. We had no issue with insects at all. Loved the view of rice fields from the balcony, all meals there were very delicious, well-maintained swimming pool which we never wanted to get out of and peaceful garden. The staff there were all friendly and they looked after us so much. The owners treated us like family. Highly recommended.
No WiFi, no service, not much for breakfast, but you surely get a lot of insects!”
The hotel should have warned us about the insect problem: any size and any kind of insects you can possibly imagine flew into our room and into every niche and crevice in our clothes, backpacks, and luggage. When we complained, the staff did try to expel them, but also told us that we should have never turned ANY lights on. ANY. For breakfast, the staff reluctantly served us Sri Lankan breakfast of milk rice and butter and jam. Seriously, what sort of self-respecting Sri Lankan will eat milk rice with butter and jam??? Just because we are tourists, it doesn't mean they can just treat us to whatever. They will not refill your teapots willingly. They will not give you any more fruits even if their regular breakfast was inedible (store bought, pre-packaged, mass-produced cakes). Other tables got roti and curry, so I suppose the better items were hidden somewhere....
Wonderfull experience”
We were here with our small child. People were increadibly nice with us. Food is great. Place is superbe. Price is worth it. Do not hesitate to go there.
Overpriced for a 2 star hotel.”
nice grounds and pool but rest solala”
hotel pros:convenient location close to the rock as well as Dambulla, nice grounds with pool, bedroom quite spacious and good bed with very clean linen, breakfast. not so good: we thought the dinner buffet was dreadful. soup tasted like oil plus flavouring, evetything had a strange taste like from bad cooking oil. bathroom is rather 2 star while bedroom is 3 star. hotel ran out of beer very quickly on both days. they have lottle pools by the rooms which are perfect breedin grounds for mosquitos as if there wrent enough there already. staff were very friendly but on the day of departure they were in a rush to have us vacate the rooms well before checkout time. overall pretty ok.
You will eat well here! A great hideout. ”
We loved the Sri Lankan food served here...it was simply delicious. The beds were so incredibly comfortable - very firm. There are plenty of bugs but that is to be expected in the countryside - the mosquito net keeps them off the bed. The hotel is also in need of an update (mould in the bathroom and mouldy shower curtains). The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Don't waste your money on a massage at the spa up the road from the hotel...they are overpriced and aren't properly trained in massage.
A real hideout in the woods”
We reached the hotel after dark. Our driver didnt know the place and hence called up the hotel. they directed him. the approach road is not so good as it is a more of a jungle trail that also has a few more resorts lined up on its way. We received a hearty welcome with fresh fruit juice. The dinner served was very tasty and has the local flavor. The husband and wife owners were present all the time and made sure we were comfortable there. The Owner also knows a lot about local tourism and suggested we avail SAARC concession for tickets to sigiriya rock as we are Indian citizens. They also have driver quarters which a lot of places dnot have. Overall the staff was very warm and helpful and we had a good stay there.
Great stay at this lovely place!”
We had a great stay! Wonderful location, except for the fact you have to get a tuktuk if you want to go somewhere. Food was good (especially breakfast), but little variety for lunch and dinner. The pool is really nice! We loved the Hideout, would definetely recommend!
Charming Hideout but need improvement ”
Very nice couple who manage the place. Nice surroundings, pool and garden. We enjoyed the place. Room is good size. However it really needs to be cleaner and refreshed. The bed and net are nice. But, the bathroom is not nice at all. Dirty shower curtain, old bathroom, not well maintained, dirty wall and door (just need to be repaint), shelf not well screwed, dirty carpet (just need to give a clean floor towel). It's nice to be a Eco resort in the jungle but right when we arrived in the room, there were too many insects (dead and alive), we are not fussy about it as we live in a south east Asia country with insects as well, but the room had too many when we enter it. And room is very dark (tiny window), we had to let the door open to let the light comes in. There isn't any air con, a bit surprising at first but the fan is not too bad. Breakfast is nice, good little French sponge cake, nice egg cooked by someone right at the buffet, good selection of fruits. But the coffee is the worst we had in all the hotels in Sri Lanka (way too watery, cannot even feel it's a coffee by its color, look and taste). So overall it's ok but could have been much nicer if small things were improved and fixed for future guests. Staff are very friendly though.
A remote oasis”
Best Stay in Sri Lanka”
Faultless. The owners and staff are delightful. The entire place is spotless, the atmosphere very restful and the food was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending this little gem to anyone.
Nice but expensive ”
A tranquil eco friendly paradise. ”
Very enjoyable. It is a bit far out of sigiriya but very calm and peaceful and a real hideaway.
Paradise amongst the paddy fields”
Had a great stay here, the pictures really don't do it justice so we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The rooms are lovely and the pool area, surrounded by lush green paddy fields, is stunning. The staff are also lovely, friendly and helpful. My only slight negative is that the food could be improved. We stayed for the buffet one night and found that it was luke warm. The breakfast and lunch were much better though so it could have just been a one off. We would definitely stay again if we were heading back to Sigiriya. It's about a 15-20 minute tuk tuk ride to the rock but we also hired bikes later in the day and it would have been easy to cycle there too.
great view!”
We had a nice stay at the Hideout. We expected an air conditioned room, but there aren't any. However, we were comfortable with a ceiling fan (a surprise)The view was spectacular. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The breakfast was very plentiful and nice. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Friendly place to stay!”
Our stay was decent - this hotel is a bit off the main road but has an absolutely beautiful view from the top floor of restaurant. They also have a lovely looking pool, although we didn't have time for a swim. The food wa good and the Sri Lankan beeakfast was a great experience - they give you printed information about the foods and nutrients. The room itself was very large and had an excellent mosquito net. This hotel would greatly benefit from air conditioning - we were there during winter and our room was very warm despite using the ceiling fan. The shower also had poor water pressure, but did have nice hot water! Overall, the stay met our expectations and the hotel had some great features!
NIce and quite”
We had some problems trying to find the place at night. Dinner was no good and I got serious problems with my stomach during two days.
