Find hotels near Pulau Perhentian Besar in Perhentian Islands, Malaysia

My family & I went for a 4-day stay at Arwana Perhentian Eco Resort (Family Deluxe room). Access to the resort is via speedboat from Kuala Besut jetty. Return Boat Transfer is arranged by the resort as part of the room package. In terms of appearance of the room and general facilities, it would help to align expectations that this is a simple resort with a rather spartan appearance. Although the resort has a spa center & karaoke room, I’ve never seen them open throughout my 4-day stay. As for the swimming pool with a waterfall feature, I’ve not seen any cleaning done during my stay. Consequently, expect quite a lot of dead leaves/debris inside the pool. Nevertheless, it’s not too dirty and my kids still had a great time swimming around. In the room, there is no TV, minibar, complementary mineral water or wifi in the room (WiFi is only available at the lobby area). Normally, it wouldn’t bother me not to have TV/WiFi, since I’d usually be outside exploring the locale but in this case, there really wasn’t much to see or do along Pulau Besar beach especially at night. Therefore having a TV and/or Wifi in the room would have been helpful. The shower heater can only be set at either ‘cold’ or ‘scalding hot’. Toiletries provided are at the bare minimum (just shampoo & body shower; no shower cap, toothbrush, sewing kit etc.). That said, the basic necessities are more than adequate for visitors whose sole purpose to Perhentian is for diving/snorkelling & not to relax in the resort. The resort has water dispensers at the ground floor, an essential amenity as drinking water is an expensive commodity in Perhentian. Customer service-wise, this is actually the best aspect of Arwana Perhentian, in my opinion. The staff are generally courteous and accommodating. You can ask them to arrange snorkelling activities for you. During one of those long & boring nights, you could also ask the staff to play some movies using the projector in the lobby. You could even request the hotel rest

Bayu Dive Lodge is ideally located on the long beach on Perhentian Besar. The wooden bungalows are all very nice and clean. First we stayed in a simple fan room for three nights, then we had to move to an A/C room as we decided to extend our stay but the room was already reserved. We were very satisfied with both of the rooms. Despite the hot weather even the fan room was pleasently cool to stay in during the day. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they do everything to make you feel welcome. The beach is beautiful but it’s not the best on the island - you need to cross to the other side for more remore beaches and stunning views. Breakfast is delicious and they also have a restaurant. We never tried it, because prices are double of what you’d pay elsewhere. The only problem we had was with thw wifi connection - it was almost always useless in the rooms. Other than that it was a perfect place and reasonably prices compared to other options on the Perhentian Islands.

One stop solutions: Snorkeling, kayak, diving & etc. could be signed up easily here with fairly good price! Food here are out of our expectations as normally the food served in an island are not so clean & well prepared. However, this hotel provided a variety of food choice (the fresh ones!) with reasonable price. That's why this restaurant is always crowded but the waiting time is not so long. It would be best if the hair dryer is come with the room although you could borrow hair dryer from the counter when you need it. Strategic location: It's within walking distance to a clean and beautiful beach. You could see Pulau Perhentian Kecil along the beach. Friendly staff: The staff here are really helpful and efficient. You could get info from the counter easily. The only bad thing I could think of here is that the phone signal and internet connection are not stable. So, don't be mad if you cannot access to the internet here.

This hotel is located on a beautiful private beach. The beach is actually one of the most beautiful beach in Pulau Perhentian. The white sandy beach in the small gulf is just perfect. The view from the beach front chalet is simply amazing! Visited couple of other hotels nearby, and the beach is terrible, a bit muddy and lots of rocks. If you want to see the turtles, "Turtle Point" is exactly in front of this hotel. In fact, people from other hotels come to this area to snorkel and see the turtles. There are few nice snorkeling point in front of this hotel as well. So you can skip the boat trip to snorkel especially if you are travelling with small kids/baby. Just dont forget to bring some breads/fish food along because feeding thousands of fishes is really fun!!! Couple of points need to improve by the hotel management: (1) Food quality is SO BAD!!! Totally agree with other reviewers, feels like eating in a budget restaurant. I'm so glad that i paid only for the breakfast buffet. For lunch/dinner i went to the nearby restaurants, Sri Tanjung or Mama's Cafe. I also took a boat taxi from Coral View Hotel to Fishing Village to eat cheap & tasty Nasi Campur. (2) Housekeeping needs to improve. They did a bad job cleaning my room when i was away. (3) Put more shower spots near the beach. The current shower spots are limited, the water pressure is low and sometime need to queue. (4) Free Wifi is super slow. Maxis 3G/4G is also super slow. The management need to alert Maxis about this problem. (5) Why no TV??? I've been to many hotels including the cheap 1-star hotel and this is the first time i stayed in a hotel without a TV!!! At night when lying on the bed feels really boring without the TV especially when the Internet is super slow.

Cozy Resort is attached to Cocohut Resort, same owner, share the same restaurant and beach. Good location on Besar (big island) with many water taxis available to go on other beaches. The beach where it's located has nice water and white sand. Bathroom is not very clean but it's Malaysian standards. Rooms don't have seaview and it's very steep to access the room with the stairs, avoid having a luggage. Would rather recommend Alunan Resort or Bubbles resort which have private beach.

We booked for a fan room, we had to change to an A/C the next two nights because it was too hot. Then we changed to Flora Bay 2, at 5 min walking of Flora Bay 1 where it is the restaurant and reception. In Flora Bay 2 we had wifi in our room, in Flora Bay 1 only in the restaurant. The staff was very kind! About the Flora Bay beach is very closed to Shark point, we went snorkeling and it was amazing.
