Good location ”
We have good time with family and don’t expect that we could book the room during songkarn holiday”
This resort is lovely ,close to nature you can not ask for more with this price. We plan to spend time with family in this resort more often in other occasions. We all love swimming in a big pool and a lot of fun playing slider. Breakfast is good . Staffs are nice. Perfect!
A good place to have a pleasure unwind. Many activities for the children and adults also. Very close to Sai Yok Noi Waterfall.
Good value secluded riiverside resort”
This place is not to everyone's liking but it's for you if you appreciate a calm, quiet, fairly isolated location with extensive and attractive grounds along the river and a very large swimming pool. The staff are freindly and helpful but are not fluent English speakers, it's not that sotrt of place.
Peaceful stay in riverside resort”
Extensive well kept gardens sweep down to the river with views of mountains beyond. Very big outdoor pool. A mid range resort favoured by independently travelling Thais, and not dominated large tour groups as some places are. Very quiet and peaceful setting away from the town and main road. They will pick you up (and take you back), at no additional cost, from Nam Tok train station or from a bus stop. Very good value.
Peaceful Riverside Setting”
The hotel has a quiet riverside setting, well away from any main road and potentially difficult to find though they will collect you from, and take you back to, (at no cost) either Nam Tok railway station or the main road bus stop by Sai Yok waterfall. Large well kept gardens run down to and along the river. Transport is difficult without your own car but there is a wide variety of excursions on offer.
Attractive Riverside Setting”
Although they don't seem to advertise the fact the hotel will pick you up and/or drop you off at the bus stop on the main road or at Nam Tok railway station, useful as the hotel is a little isolated in its peaceful and very green riverside setting. The swimming pool is large and clean. Ice cream fans should not miss the separate, and not always advertised, ice cream menu.
Pung-waan Resort Spa”
We booked with Kwai Noi but arrived at their other hotel the Spa location. It was evening and they graciously arranged for us to transfer our booking. The staff were great. The hotel and grounds are beautiful with river front views, fountains and pools and decks to sit and enjoy it all under big palm and other trees and tropical plants. The room was very nice also but who wants to be there with such nice surrounding outside.
Located 45mins from train station”
Pros: room size is good for two pax, not crowded. Spa staff is good but she doesn’t speak English. Cons: we got to wrong hotel called Pung-Waan remember to show address of the hotel. All guest room located level 1 so many mosquitoes if hotel can provide repellent will be good!
Too far away ”
Swimming pool very nice and clean . Location is close to the river with a lot of facilities but I recommend to book this hotel only if you drive by car . It is too far away from shops , restourant etc
No Wi-Fi, no soundproofing
Riverside hotel in Said Yok”
Good location in natural atmosphere and beside the river. Nice swimming pool.
Nice for family holiday ”
Large property with a lovely view of the river but many parts of the property are in need of repair. The standard room was full of ants that got in our clothes and bit us all over. The pool, while huge with a very fun slide, had some very sharp tiles and one of my kids cut his foot twice.
More Care and Possibility to Upgrade”
When we had small kids and the resort is full of insects/ants, it could have been a good gesture from them to upgrade us from downstairs to upper floor. We also requested for that while booking and I think there were plenty of empty rooms in the upper floor for that. Overall it was a great stay but a small orientation at the beginning with DOs and DONTs always help people coming to stay at the 1st time.
Just so so”
The room did not prepared very well when arrived. The request for large bed was not responsed. We went as a couple so this is a little frustrated. Optimisticly they might have no room with large bed available however there was a piece of rubbish leaved in the room. Breakfast is just so so Security is okay and staff is helpful.
Quiet, peaceful, close to nature Quite expensive from what they offer Restaurant in the resort use a lot of MSG for cooking - must make sure to ask for no MSG added meal Room is clean but water is not running as expected Nice staffs
An extremely pleasant 3 day break ”
Apart from the less-than user friendly booking process, this is very quiet, restful, attractive spot for a break. We ended up in the 'upper part' of the location which is not very suitable for disabled or elderly people because of the vast number of steps to and from the dining area - some with unsuitable handrails. We really wanted accommodation on the river, but the booking process did not make this very clear. We also had a last minute 'extra' who had his sleeping gear with him an were surprised to be charged 1400 bht for the 2 nights (by the hotel; not Agoda) whose accommodation charge was very reasonable.
big resort ”
i stayed at river villa and my room is 1st floor. bed room and toilet was clean but everything such as table , desk , TV , shower were very old. there are some broken at wall and color painting peel off from the wall.
Long way from anywhere”
The Pung-waan is remote, and I'm not sure how it attracts guests. Proximity to Hellfire Pass was my excuse because I needed to be at HFP at 2.00 the following morning for the dawn service. PW is a huge place, but first impressions weren't good, an unsealed dusty car park, and overgrown gardens didn't present well. My room wasn't riverfront. The room was just OK, but large, bathroom barely adequate, and the 'on the wall' instant hot water system took some figuring out until I realized that the water into it had been turned off at a stop cock. The people in the room next door didn't get that, so had cold showers. Room cleanliness was adequate, the bed comfortable and large. There was a thunderstorm during the night, and when the rain stopped, the frogs started, making sleep impossible. It's difficult to describe the noise, but I suppose disco level would approximate it, and I recorded the noise on my camera because I was sure friends wouldn't believe me. I suppose that's country Thailand though, and frogs are part of the environment?? I had to leave at 1.30 am for the ride to Hellfire Pass, so had almost no sleep as a consequence of the frogs' noise. I went alone to the restaurant for dinner, and the top level was well patronized, but not full, and I was told I'd have to wait for a table. I found it curious that there were 28 tables on the lower level unoccupied. The waiter offered the excuse that if I was given a table on the lower level everybody would want to go down there. Why anybody would want to move with their meals is quite beyond me, but that's what he said. I guess having to walk up and down stairs to serve meals didn't appeal?? Based on my experience, I wouldn't be prepared to recommend the Pung-waan.
