quiet resort inside its own park”
I had a nice stay here. Thong Pha Pum is a beautiful area excellent for daytime motorbike trips or other exploration. The resort provided a good place to explore from. The unique feature of this resort itself is that the grounds are like a big park, the size of a larger city park. There is a path along the river and up into a small hill where there is an interesting cave, making a good path for jogging. The rooms are old but comfortable with good beds (I can't stand the rock hard beds found in many hotels in Thailand!). This resort (and probably any others in the area) would be very inconvenient if you do not go with your own car or motorcycle. There is no restaurant at the hotel although a very simple, substandard breakfast is provided.

Beautiful Remote setting”
we were a mixed thai and english speaking group with a small child and were delighted to have adjoining rooms. this resort is in a beautiful setting with an expansive manicured garden, a small topiary and hiking paths along the river. unfortunately we did not have sufficient time to enjoy exploring the hiking opportunities offered by the resort setting. bicycles were available for rent, but looked to be in rather poor condition (no serious cycling). the rooms were clean, but the beds uncomfortable, (a common finding with hotels in this price range). a simple good breakfast was provided in a beautiful setting above the river. i did not see a menu and i don't know if other meals were available for guests. i don't think any of the staff spoke english. one serious consideration is that it is mandatory to have your own car to stay in this resort as it is on a very large property outside of thong pha phoom.

Lovely resort, fairly basic rooms”
Riding through the main gates of the resort, I was blown away. This is a huge sprawling area, complete with it's own streams. The rooms are spread around so you need to get to your room with your own transportation or the resorts golf buggy (can walk, just a bit far). The rooms however are quite basic and look quite tired and in need of a makeover. Only two small pieces of bar soap provided, you should bring your own shampoo and bath gel. No wifi either. Breakfast is basic, either fried rice or rice soup, some pineapple, watermelon, toast and some jam, tea and coffee. However, as I was merely looking for a place to overnight, it was fine. I thought the rate was high compared to some other resorts around Thailand and even though Thong Pha Pum is quite a nice place, I didn't feel the rates were justified.

Great resort, magnificent location and gardens”
I liked the resort and would stay there again. The resort grounds are huge and comprise landscaped gardens alongside the River Khwai. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, a children's playground, an adventure exercise area, a waterfall (when there is sufficient water) and a easy 200 step climb up the side of a limestone karst to a Buddha cave. Rooms are good but a little old with everything you need such electric kettle, tea and coffee, fridge, airconditioning and free wifi (worked well). The free breakfast was basic but ok - toast, fried rice, rice soup, fruit, cereal, juice, tea and coffee. It is possible to order food to be delivered to the room.

Resort in a huge park”
Without your own transport it is a rather long walk along the highway into town. There are no meals available at the resort apart from breakfast. There are no taxis so walking is the only option. The first two nights some of us slept really badly because the mattress was so hard that our hips and shoulders were aching. Then we discovered that the mattresses were up side down, with the plank on top. We slept much better having turned the soft side up. Stuff was very friendly but didn't speak any English.

Quiet in a lovely park”
If you just want to relax for a day or two that resort is a great place to do that. It's a rather long walk along the main road to town to get some food. There is no food at the resort apart from breakfast. There is some very old playground equipment for the kids and some long challenging stairs to an impressive cave.

Holidays in a park”
My stay was very pleasant although the resort was a long way out of town and no taxis or transport was available. The park is huge including a big cave on top of a hill. There was also a playground for the children. I was glad they had some bikes we could use to get from our room to the reception where breakfast was served.

simple hotel in a fantastic garden”
For the price you pay you have an expectation. As I didn't pay too much my expectation was low, which made me pass by the entrance at first, because it looked too up-scale. But it was the right entrance. From there you drive across a beautifully landscaped garden. It is difficult to find the lobby though, as there are no signs (maybe the Thai signs give some directions, but I can't read those). Once having found the lobby, my earlier expectations were confirmed: opposite to the landscape and the location (right at the river Khwai), the hotel facilities are pretty basic. The houses (each providing several apartments) are pretty scattered across the huge terrain, so you would have to walk a lot, or drive or have the staff drive you with a golf cart. As I just needed a bed to sleep, that was very OK. But I cannot imagine spending some significant vacation time in this hotel, just because of the missing facilities.

Mixed feelings”
The location of this resort is very good, the gardens are large and well maintained, next to the river. The rooms however are a bit dated and cheaply furnished, and the bathroom was often filled with ants. Sometimes there are people drinking alcohol right in front of the room until late, very noisy. Some of the food in the restaurant was quite good, but we feel that the chicken was not quite so good, leaving some not so great after effects.
