Not to my liking”
Cheap. Silent.
Upon arrival the owner said I couldn't use the aircon since my booking wasn't for one. When I said I will call Agoda to complain he agreed for me to use the AC. However it gets irritating when the wife insists to turn off AC whenever I go out of the room even just to drink coffee. No meals or food available on site or nearby.

Difficult to find”
Staff, food, furniture
There was no phone number or address, so we spent over an hour trying to find it. Agoda must put this information on their website. There was a sign at the entrance to the road, but there should have been a sign facing in the other direction as well as on both sides of the road. The furniture in the lobby was beautiful and made in Sri Lanka. We liked the added touch of flower petals and leaves arranged artistically on our beds. The location was peaceful and beautiful.

Nice location for Sigiriya”
Comfortable, Quiet, Pleasant
This is about 10 minutes from Dambulla and 10 minutes from Sigiriya rock. I had attempted to speak to the owner the night before about transport but the conversation was so strained, I could not understand the owners wife at all and she clearly could not understand me. When we got to the guesthouse they tried to put us in a room with only two beds, even though we had asked for a triple. All the rooms were nice and new, a very big size, clean with mosquito nets. The mosquito nets did not fully cover the whole bed however. One problem was the number of ants that had made their way into our room, it was crazy the number we found in our room the first night back. The owner was helpful in that he took us to places in his tuk tuk for a good price. At night the owners turned off the wifi which was quite annoying, especially as on the last day we were made to pay for the use. The main issue was the the lack of English, communication was very hard at times. If I was in Sigiriya I would definetly go back

Nice bright room, friendly owners”
friendly owners, good reasonably priced dinner, light bright room
This is a small family run guest-house. I arranged to have dinner there in the evening as there's really nowhere else to go and was given a great vegetarian meal at a reasonable price. Breakfast wasn't so great - cold toast & eggs, but lovely fresh fruit & tea served with it. It really should be included in the price as is the norm in Sri Lanka.

a very nice place! (food is over-priced, though)”
friendly family run the hotel, comfortable rooms, cleanliness
we had a lot of fun the one night we stayed here. they are a happy family who really care about making their guests comfortable. we stayed in the front room, and it was comfortable and extremely clean. please keep in mind that this is a new guesthouse, so they are figuring things out still. there are a couple things that we didn't like that happened in the last 10 minutes we spent there, though. went to pay for our meals just before checking out, and our food bill (vegetarian dinner for two, three 1-liter bottles of water, a very small fruit plate and a papaya juice) cost us close what we paid for the room us$30/night. this is not remotely close to what the rest of town charges, nor is it on par with the economy in general. explanation: dinner was great, but they charged us double what our hotel in the center of sigiriya did the night before (food was of equal portion and quality--both vegetarian). keep in mind every restaurant in town charges 400-500 rps. the sense that we were being ripped off that didn't feel good. they offered me a big breakfast, but i declined and asked for a fruit salad and juice. 550rps later, and the fruit plate had a medium-sized slice each of four different fruits. that is all. we were surprised i was charged for my tiny breakfast when they gave another guest free breakfast. they also told him he could have dinner and "pay what he wants" afterwards. this was agreed to in open air; i was visible when this conversation was had. they could benefit from treating their guests equally. and they added tax and service charge onto the food bill as though they were a proper restaurant. we spent one month traveling around sri lanka and no other hotel ever did this. lastly, their son--whom i believe is now working in dubai--told us four times within 5-minutes before leaving, "i want to see you put a good review on agoda." i know he meant well, but it got to be a bit much.
