A little piece of paradise”
This hotel is not your usual hotel or resort but rather is made up of a number of stand alone cottages. Our room (805) was, I think, the best cottage in Puri Tempo Doeloe. It was close to the little pool but not right opposite. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the grounds, with their bonsai and Buddha figures, are meticulously maintained. The main drawback (and yet also one of the main advantages) is that the hotel is located some distance from central Sanur (only about ten minutes by foot along narrow lanes). If and when we can afford to return to Bali we will stay at Puri Tempo Doeloe.

Utterly charming”
I loved Puri Tempo Doeloe Hotel. The beautiful, well-maintained gardens and dozen lovingly renovated traditional wooden houses that comprise the accommodation create a tranquil oasis despite the main entrance being on a highway. Once inside the compound all is quiet. The restored antique furniture and quirky humour of the owners that is evident in the signage add to the atmosphere. Each cottage is unique and beautifully renovated and furnished with individual pieces chosen by somebody with a great eye for design. The staff were universally helpful and sweet, and the dedication of the owners (who are resident) to good service and the creation of a very individual hotel was apparent. Although the hotel is not on the beach, that didn't matter one whit, as the gardens, swimming pool and lounge area tempted me to stay in the compound far more often than going to the crowded beach area. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops within 10 minutes walk and the beach is only about 15 minutes walk. There are also bicycles for rent for even faster access.

A lovely relaxing hotel”
I was extremely happy with my stay at Puri Tempo Doeloe. The hotel is a little oasis in Sanur. I stayed here alone however I would certainly recommend this to couples as well for the romantic atmosphere. The cottages are all lovely, very private and clean and surrounded by the beautifully manicured garden. The four poster bed with mosquito netting was a lovely touch. The staff are very attentive and the breakfast was yum and generous. I did however not have luck with my choices at the restaurant for dinner. To get to the main tourist street with all the shopping and restaurants does require a 10 minute walk down some back streets and wasn't ideal to walk alone as a female at night, but if I had of been with another person I wouldn't have hesitated. I will be back

Amazing ”
I have been wating to stay in Sanur area where I can have an unique experience. When I know Puri Tempo Doeloe Hotel has something none of other hotels can offer, i selected a cottage here. Friendly staff, easy to reach and not far from the beach. Highly recomend to stay at a Cottage or Villa here

Beautiful garden ”
I stayed at Puri Tempo Doeloe for 2 nights. Had a nice little bungalow in their beautiful garden, clean with a good bed. Breakfast is good, not big, but gives you something to start the day with. I also had a dinner there, just a Nasi Goreng, but it was really good. The staff is excellent. The walk down to Sanur centre is 10-15 long, and 5 more minutes to the beach. Will go back here if I go to Sanur again.

It wasnt a hotel, it was a home ”
It didnt feel like I was staying in a hotel. It felt like I came "home". It's great to hear the birds chirping every morning and the laid back natural surroundings. If you love all things old school (hence the name tempo doeloe meaning olden times) i.e before the colonial government left Indonesia kind, here's the place. I love the big bathroom and the rain showers. Its got 2, one indoors and one outdoors and the 4 poster bed is really comfy. Did I also mention the verandah with its sofa? You just wished the day was more than 24 hours so you can just plonk yourself there with a good book (only good if the sun isn’t too scorching, though). But still, the hotel grounds are a great place to explore old photos and bric bracs. Do also book yourself a spa session while you are there, the room is huge with their own big bathtub and the masseuses really soothes you, they are the kind who talks when necessary and just lets their fingers do the talking. We also like the small little restaurant they had up front, La Tartine, where its usually empty and they let us choose the kind of breakfast we have. The only downside to this restaurant is that some of their food are misses while others are really out of this world heavenly. Desserts worth a mention and worth a second and subsequent tries are the Unicorn Poop (am not joking, that's what its called!) and the Love Cake! In all, we love this place to bits, we dont mind coming back again. Only downside to it is that its really out of the way, far out of Sanur beach. Took me 15 mins to go (so half and hour to and fro actually) and lots of turns into alleys that's usually empty (ok I was there to catch the sunrise so obviously not many are up and about). So if you are looking for a beach place to stay, stay away from this place but if you are looking for a hideout with friendly staff, chirping birds and a lazy feel to it oh and near modern conveniences (minimart's a stones throw away and so is McDonald's), come right in!

Little gem just outside the centre”
we spent the last 4 days of our indonesian holiday in puri tempo doeloe and we couldn't have picked a better hotel. cosy cottages (with nice bathrooms) surrounded by a very nice garden and pool. it's a 10 minute walk to the beach, but that was not an issue as this has the advantage of a quiet environment. perfect for couples and people looking for quiet relaxation.

Adorable boutique hotel 15 mins from Sanur main street”
Puri Tempo is a beautiful hotel where a lot of thought has gone into each detail. While it doesn't offer the same luxuries as other more modern style villas, it's a must for those who like vintage, shabby chic inspired designs and is truly unlike anything else I've seen in all my many travels to Bali. We were shocked to find that it lies right on the highway, as you exit via the back gates its like a different world of quiet, tree lined streets and only a pleasant 10-15 min walk to the main street of Sanur. Towels were a bit old and stiff, and staff don't help carry bags to rooms or provide much personalised service, but were friendly nonetheless. No safe in the room, but you can use the safety box behind the front desk, which is a bit of a hassle but very safe. Overall, beautiful grounds and a lovely hotel if you're looking for something different but central enough in Sanur.

The place to be in Sanur”
Terrific hotel, away from busy area and main street, but close enough to all of this, including the beach. Tempo Doeloe is back to the old times - as the words indicate - but luxury inside the cottages. Very pleasant stay: oasis, friendly personnel / staff and owner, beautiful garden, nice swimming pool and fantastic breakfast. One of the places to go back for when Bali schould ever to come back as destination for a holiday. Very warm recommendation.

Quiet and quirky”
I loved my stay at Puri Tempo Doeloe hotel. This was the second time I have stayed and the welcoming staff remembered me from the previous year. The cottages are very quirky and designed in a retro style- Very vintage like- But with all mod cons. The beds are huge and very comfortable. Having your own little patio/ balcony area meant that it was great to sit there and relax in the evenings. Its about a 10 minute walk through the back lanes into Sanur- I walked there and back, including in the dark every evening and found it easy and safe. The swimming pool and gardens are just lovely- a great spot to rewind and relax- I would definitely return.

Beautiful place and kindest staff”
This time we stayed at Puri Tempo for 10 days in total - returning after we had discovered the hotel 3 years ago. It is a beautiful place with the kindest, most amazing staff, good breakfast and a easy walk through some interesting, safe side streets to the main road of Sanur. We will be back - no doubt ... it's a treasure!!!!

Very good”
Had 4 nights at the Puri Tempo Doeloe, one of the nicest hotels i've stayed in, very Balinese cottage. The gardens are very restful and the old house has a wonderful collection to view. Breakfast has a special French feeling at the Tartine Cafe , no complaints there. By using the back gate it's a 15 minute walk to the main road and another 10 minutes to the beach. The Staff are very pleasant and helpful. My wife and I would definitely stay here again.

Hansel & Gretel Fairyland cottages!!”
Really enjoyed our stay at Puri Tempo. The place is just divine. The cottages are beautifully renovated, all paintred in pastel colors. It really makes you feel in fairyland! The place is beautifully kept. The garden, swimming pool are great. Their little Restaurant make delicious food. The staff was very plasant and obliging. They arranged babysitting for us 2 nights in a row. It's a 15 min walk from the beach, but it was not a problem for me, especially when you want to stay somewhere special and quirky.

Pleasantly surprised.”
It took me a couple days to appreciate this property because it was not typical of the places in which I typically stay. That turned out to be a good thing. When one comes to Bali, one wishes to leave with pleasant memories. My stay at Puri was just that. I particularly liked the large bathroom and multiple options of washing, either in a large tub or satisfying shower--an outside shower, private, is also available. Hot water was always available. Although lighting was a little weak for my tastes, especially when shaving, I came to appreciate the hotel and its vision.

Quaint and charming.”
Our stay at this hotel was fabulous it's exactly what we expected. The staff were polite and helpful, grounds are an oasis and the room was delightful. If you are after a truly unique experience stay here, not for people who like big resort style accommodation. We stayed here for 6 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Sanur itself is a short stroll away through some interesting little ally's that are perfectly safe or you can hire a bike. Sanur has an amazing choice of real quality restaurants and along the beach itself. The beach is clean and you never get hassled like in Kuta! This hotel is well worth a stay for those who enjoy eclectic charm and simple yet warm welcoming service.

A Charming Oasis of Calm”
I was in Sanur for a conference and opted not to stay at the conference hotel. The Puri Tempo proved to be a good choice, the hotel is well situated on the main bypass but set far enough back from the road to be quiet and peaceful. The cottages are comfortable and very individual in style, the bathroom was huge. Food at the restaurant attached to the hotel was very good with a more than adequate breakfast selection.

Great for peace and relaxation”
We stayed in three places during our holiday to Bali. All were great but this was my favourite. I really loved waking up and sitting on the deck and watching the sun rise and hanging out in the garden after a day adventuring around Sanur. It was really peaceful and relaxing to be there. The cottages were stand alone and it was really quiet and comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed walking down the lanes to the beach and the shops as it gave us a sense of what local life was like. We did need a torch to help get back after dark though. The staff took really good care of us and you could see they were so proud of looking after the cottages and the gardens. The cafe was quirky and there was a good choice for breakfast. If we go back to bali I definately want to stay there again and would stay longer than the five lovely days we spent there.

Serene hotel beautiful decor”
After the hustle and bustle of the Bali streets this hotel gives peace and tranquility. There is a real feel of serenity, the staff are there if you need them but it is easy to feel you are the only ones on the compound. I loved the decor and the gardens. The cleanliness was outstanding and the staff always pleasant. The location can be a problem if you dont like walking, it is only 10 - 15 minutes from the main part of Sanur but my husband had sprained his ankle so walking was a problem. But saying this we were quite happy to stay by the beautiful pool.
