Good location, room on the small side”
Well located for downtown within walking distance. The breakfast is good enough and staff very friendly and helpful. The room is not very well designed so it could do with a change of furniture to fit two people comfortably. This was the cheapest central hotel so good value for money.
parking not convenient
great location with reasonable price ”
Good location, value for money”
This was our first time to use this hotel, on check in the staff was very helpful and managed to check us in quickly. The hotel is located a short walk all down hill to the main Gas Lamp area, this is where all the restaurants and bars are. Getting home is a walk up hill, or a cheap cab ride. The room is OK it has everything you would expect, the bathroom is small but it works. It looked like there were some people that lived there full time, however I must say it was very quite with no problems. Over all I would stay here again as I felt it was good value for money considering its location.
nice, but some of the guests were loud.”
Hotel OK, but noisy”
The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable, the Internet is fast. However, the hotel is located directly under the flight path, very close to the airport, and incoming aircraft fly low overhead, making it extremely noisy. On the night that I stayed there was also a lot of non-aircraft noise, with people apparently shouting on the walkways surrounding the central court. The hotel is located on a rather bleak stretch of 4th Avenue; it's not the most attractive neighborhood. The advertised 'continental breakfast' was disappointing: mostly cellophane-wrapped pastries and juice boxes served in a rather cramped dining room.
Value for money”
Clean and comfortable and value for money. Surroundings seem a bit deserted though.
simple and budget stay with generous hospitality ”
The staffs are very nice. The hotel management runs the hotel with hearts and provides good breakfast. Room is clean and good housekeeping.
Adequate. Just note that the hotel is on the landing flight path to the airport so u need to keep your windows closed if u enjoy ur sleep.
this was one of the worst hotel rooms ever. exreme”
This was the noisiest hotel room Ive ever had the displeasure of staying in. Airplanes seem to be landing on the roof and you could hear everything in adjoining rooms. paper thin walls.
A nice, comfortable and affordable hotel”
My main requirements when staying at a hotel are affordability, cleanliness and internet access. I got all three so I was happy. The hotel is a little old but reasonably well maintained. There are vending machines for drinks and snacks, and there is a coin operated laundry in the basement. You can get free detergent from reception, which is nice. There is a gym (although I didn't use it) and also a computer that you can use and print things from.
It's close to San Diego downtown, but the wifi is not good in this hotel. It usually disconnected.
Nice location BUT NO HOTEL PARKING”
Hotel is in heart of SAN DIEGO but does not have any parling of its own. If you reach late, parking may be available on street 2-4 blocks away from hotel and it is really difficult to walk with luggage. Good location if arriving by cab/public transportation. Rooms are very small and cramped but clean and tidy. Breakfast is nice with water bottles available. Internet koisks/printers dont work.
nice place for a reasonable price”
we stay for one night only. at first the inn seems to be small for us but it has a little kichen which includes microwave oven and coffee maker thus we can make some hot food and water. on average the price is ok with free wifi and street parking. so next time we would consider it again with about one hundred dollar of budget.
the room was small but comfortable. there was also free wifi.
Earplugs required for this stay!”
San Diego the party town. My cousin & I wanted to stay close to the bars, bistros, lounges (4th and 5th Ave) so that we could walk there (15 mins walk). At the same time we were girls on a tight budget. Besides we knew we were not going to stay in the room so why splurge! Read some reviews and this seemed like a decent spot for our 3 nights. Well YES it was close to the party places. BUT we could not stand the constant loud noise you get from the planes landing. The planes landing at San Diego airport literally fly above the Inn. I mean we have learnt that San Diego is not a quiet airport! It will keep you awake. The planes stop late in the middle of the night & resumes early in the morning. Shutting windows tight does not help. The airport is 5-10 drive away. We had our room by the 4th Ave and so there is, little but still, traffic. Walls are thin so noise easily make its way. In fact we could hear the TV of our neighbours when we were in our beds. To us, this was very disturbing factor, which didnt please us at all. It is a clean & decent stay otherwise, for a budget traveler. The staff were polite and approachable. There is complimentary breakfast provided. Given the good points, I am very sure one can find better places - close to the party area and away from the road & the planes! So I say keep looking around (unless you are a heavy sleeper).
Outside nice, inside rundown”
the hotel is - considering the price - ok. inside the hotel is a small urban garden with a fountain, nice to relax. rooms are medium sized, european style. flatscreen tv, microwave, fridge, ac, coffee maker. bathroom was ok and clean. but the overall appearance of the room was old and rundown. some general renovation is really necessary. most of downtown is in a low flight zone of san diego airport. but there are no flights between 11 pm and 7 am. but planes only approach for landing, so they make less noise. this is much worse in norther part of town where they take off. location is really good. walking downtown takes 10 to 15 minutes. bus stop is really close to hotel. the strange people that are elsewhere mentioned are homeless people on the street, but they are everywhere around san diego. although it might appear different, the area is safe and you can walk there at night coming from downtown. there is a nice taco place just around the corner. cheap and really good food, but be prepared for a little queuing at peak time.
Small but very cute”
very good!!! Samll but very cute and warm hospitality, near by beach and nice bar....
Great location but small rooms”
Decent room and great thing is free wifi. this is a great location as well. Close to downtown, mission valley, little italy and close to great restaurants. however, parking is a bit tricky
