    Affordably elegant”

Cozy, comfortable rooms. Friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent decor. Very affordable rates. Perks available (tea and sherry, ghost tours, generous continental breakfast) Convenient location

My son, wife, and I decided on staying at the Queen Anne Hotel recently after reviewing other competing internet rates. We were thoroughly satisfied with our stay and we can safely say that we will be back!! If you're looking for a cozy hotel amongst a Victorian-esque setting, then this place is for you. Though they do not offer amenities you'd find at most luxurious hotels (ie: pool, spa, etc.), the friendly staff made up for it. I was surprised to see how welcoming they were to visitors that entered their doors, whether staying there or just walking by. Between the hours of 4-6p they offered some sherry and tea with cookies. Furthermore, just past the hotel lobby was a sitting area with 2 fireplaces where my wife and I would unwind after a long day of sight-seeing. The rooms were great, too. Comfortably looking over Japantown, locals shops are within walking distance. The owners of the hotel have tried their best to retain remnants of what the hotel once used to be, an all girls school back at the turn of the century. Once again we had a pleasant stay where the personality and character of San Francisco was clearly reflected through the atmosphere and staff at the Queen Anne.

Charming, comfortable, great services, and convenience—what more can you ask for?”

Spacious, clean, and comfortable rooms, just a block from Japantown, yet very quiet. Unlike most, if not all, the hotels in Japantown, Queen Anne has two queen (and I mean the real queen, not the typical hotel queen) size beds in a room for 4 people. I love going there in winter, when they decorate for Christmas. I feel so happy just sitting in one of the charming sofas, sipping coffee or tea that’s available 24hrs, taking in the Christmas trees, dolls, and other decorations. My kids love the fresh-baked cookies at tea time—one example of the TLC that this hotel offers. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Very reasonable parking guaranteed with your reservation. It is our favorite hotel in this part of San Francisco, or maybe even all of San Francisco!

    Very comfortable ”

The Decor , its location and the friendly staff .

We thouroghly enjoyed our stay at thr Queen Anne . The management have certainly gone to town with the decoration and furniture . It is decorated in an old stile but clearly the furnature is not old but reproduction . This gives the hotel great character . It is also fairly centrally located for the attractions of San Francisco but in a quite area . Public transport runs past the front door and it is possible to purchase a day pass for 14$ which you can use on the buses , street cars and cable cars . The breakfast is a self-service continental type but there was ample choice and would be OK for most people except those who like to eat to excess . We would certainly recommend this to anyone and would stay there again if we were lucky enough to return to San Francisco .

    Relaxing”

Good staff, lovely decor, very close to good restaurants

The hotel is about 10 blocks from central San Francisco but very close to good public transport. Nearby are great restaurants - very close walking distance to Japanese centre & Fillmore. The hotel has basic continental breakfast & no room service. It has only a small number of rooms (20?) and the décor in public areas is charming - oak panelling and period furniture. Very quiet & tranquil. I would rather stay here than at the busy expensive charmless city hotels. Very pleasant stay & very good value

    Great Old Time Feel”

    Staff, Location, Wood work

We had a great time at the Queen Anne. The hotel was really nicely done and was very unique. The rooms were larger than I expected given that it was a retrofit of an old building. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the cookies and sherry at 4 was a nice touch.

    A Unique Standout”

History, location, staff, old time parlor lobby

This place stands out from the crowd. I travel frequently and stay in hotels far too frequently. THis hotel is certainly different - a converted girls finishing school from a century ago. The best part is the lobby which is like a parlor from a century ago where you sit in antique furniture by two fireplaces chattin with fellow guests if it strikes you. It is more like being in your rich grandmother's house! Breakfast is ioncluded, wi-fi in the rooms, shery and freshly baked cookies at 4:00, coffee and tea all day, free computer in the "lobby"

Historic hotel in the heart of San Francisco”

    Amazing old mansion style interior

we stayed at a standard room which was fine, but in my opinion needed renovation. the other rooms (levels higher) seemed better. the guest room was amazing: with old authentic furniture and a fireplace. it's a great place to relax and forget about time and the century you are in. the whole hotel is a live museum. the receptionists are hospitable. there is free high speed wi-fi in all rooms. the parking is next to the hotel: 20$ per day. the breakfast was fine but not diverse enough for me.

Everyone at the frontdesk were hospitable and very helpful with advice and directions. Hotel was remodeling the outside and much scaffolding covered windows. Complementary breakfast was varied and fine. Elevator worked well and quickly the entire stay. Slightly over-decorated, which fits with the period.

    Had a relaxing stay. ”

So this place was very nice looking. It had a very old feel to it, and was very quiet. Located just down the road from Japantown. I really loved the staff. They gave us a bottle of Champagne for our stay, and a vase for the flowers I bought my wife. The little things were greatly appreciated. The breakfast was listed as very good, but I thought it was just too much of the same each day. The highlight being the waffle maker. I was hoping for fresh seasonal fruits or something. We stayed for four nights there in the spa room, and that spa bath was worth every cent. I would in go back again in a heartbeat.

    Good location with some perks”

We stayed here because it's close to the Chinese Consulate, and there are few other remotely reasonable options in the area. The location is great: not too noisy, near food at Japan Town, easy to get busses elsewhere. I don't recommend walking here from BART, though: that takes you through some rough areas with a lot of vagrants, let's say. The place looks fancy, but it's about time for some renovation: the windows are hard to open and should be replaced. Other than that, it's comfortable. The breakfast is decent for American style food. I liked the make it yourself waffles in particular. The coffee is better in the lobby than from the machine, though. The bagels and croissants are also good. Every day, they've got coffee, tea, iced lemon/orange water, and often cookies in the lobby. The staff are typically very helpful. Booking a car to the airport is easy, and I'd highly recommend doing that over mass transit.

    Günstige Lage”

The hotel location is very good. Public traffic is available to the Financial District, Golden Gate Park and to the north - all with one bus line. The hotel is very old, not only the building. That might be fine for walls, stairs and the ceiling (looks partly even nice, they try to keep the whole hotel in that old design). Fine. But even the furniture incl. the bed and bedclothes are very old. The flooring was partly ripped. The room as well as the area around the fireplace were dirty. I was 7 days there, and when I left, the same contamination existed as on the first day. Despite of this, I liked the fireplace - up to the moment were a mouse appeared. Imagine that these mice can also go into the rooms, climp on tables and beds... Finally, my razor disappeard. The hotel staff tried to arrange something, but the hotel management declined every compensation except a very cheep and unsharp non-refillable razor. The breakfest did not incl. yoghurt or cheese. All the day the same.
