NOTE This review is not for the Hotel of the same name in the city proper. This hotel was on the main highway some 3 km from the city centre. From the moment we walked into the lobby of Queen Margarette Hotel, we knew we were in trouble. Greeted by indifferent staff in a non-air conditioned lobby, facing an elevator with an "Out of Service" sign (it wasn't fixed before we left & the sign looked as if it had been there for quite a while) we wondered what could be in store for us next. The elevator problem meant that my 81 yr old M.I.L. could not visit our room - her room being on ground level & ours on level 2. Breakfast was included in the tariff, however, I could not avail myself of it as it was served in their non-airconditioned Restaurant - I had to pay extra for breakfast to be delivered to my room. The Bar was also not airconditioned. Although promising a well-stocked mini bar, the room fridge was completely empty. We tried to order beer from room service but were quickly informed that they only served beer in cans as it was the hotel's policy not to serve beer in bottles. The advertised tea & coffee making facilities were also absent and of course, by the time an ordered coffee from room service arrived, it was barely luke warm. There were several other problems with this hotel - too many to list here. However, the Pancit Canton was the best I have ever had & some of the other dishes can be recommended. Being well away from a major city, one could not expect Queen Margarette to cater to foreigners but even my Philippine family were not happy with the service here. Apparently, Management places greater emphasis on their Function Rooms than the hotel itself. Most disappointing, although it was great to see my Philippine family for the first time in eight years. We will visit Lucena City again but certainly will not stay at this hotel again.

The place is good but needs a minimal improvements like the Television Set (the one that I have was obsolete), the headdress of my beds are quite old. I wanted to stay at the bathtub to refresh but there is no hot water. And there is a smell in the room that it is old already. The Towel I can say is very good they are all new. You can detect if it is old already, but mine are all good. If you are just wanted to stay just to sleep the hotel is perfectly for you.

This hotel needs a lot of catching up in their bedroom and meeting room upkeep and maintenance. Jacuzzi is not working. Needs to reinvest food quality, taste, and presentation.

Before accepting the room assigned to you better check the heater first coz ours is not working. Even the kettle heater is not functioning. Door knob handle is loose, swimming pool is dirty as well :(

Nice Stay but needs improvement”
My stay was due to the wedding of my friend. However, I wish staff were more visible and friendly. Buffet breakfast was really good however, I hope there was someone to brief you in the breakfast place.

the room would have been better if it does not smell like an old house. some part of the wall sticker already flipped which added to my disappointment as I can see the dirty old wall just covered by a wall sticker. no wonder the room smells oldy. the pool is so-so. most part is too deep which is not good for travellers who does not know how to swim nor float. breakfast buffet was nice! the only thing that compensated my disappointment. the foods taste so good that I have to go back again ang fill my plate once more. all in all. my stay was not that great but not bad either.

The hotel is conveniently situated near the national road so it won't be any trouble for those that are commuting. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. Not sure about cleanliness though, maybe it's just because the hotel is fully booked for so many events? Though there was an instance that the room was not freshened up/cleaned (Day 2). Not sure when was the last time Queen Margarette Hotel got updated. It would've been a bit more charming and a bit more pleasing to the eyes if the hotel got renovated or at least looked a bit smarter (?) / more polished? For the food.. I wished that they had more than just brewed coffee.. We had to go back and forth between the two restaurants that they have and both just had *that* instead of what was said from their menu.

Since it's already old, the staffs should make sure all room is completely clean. Encountered lots of all cockroaches crawling around the room.
