Simply superb and memorable”
We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites Long Island City from 18-22 May 2014. We were able to locate the hotel very easily after alighting at the Queens Plaza subway station. It was a 7-minute walk from the subway station prior to which we had taken the airtrain from JFK to Jamaica station. The check in process was very smooth and quick. The hotel had acceded to our request for early check-in at 1pm. The hotel lobby. corridors, breakfast room as well as our room were prim and proper. The view of the Manhattan skyline from our hotel room(no 817) was truly awesome. The housekeeping services rendered was impeccable. The breakfast quality and quality was satisfactory. The vending machine at the breakfast hall was open round the clock to quickly grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate even at the oddest hour. We were also granted a late check out and the courteous hotel staff helped us to hail a taxi to get to JFK airport. Our overall experience was wonderful and very memorable. Without a doubt, I would stay here again and would strongly recommend this hotel.
Good Hotel but hard to park”
The hotel is located in Long Island City. The rooms are clean and there is free WiFi and cable television. Breakfast included hot waffles ,yogurt ,fruit ,cereal and a host of other foods. It was very good. Parking was the only drawback. Drove around for over an hr. and could not street park. Ended up parking in Greenpoint and using a car service to get back to the hotel. Subway is close and easy to get to. Heater fan was very noisy.
Pleasant Stay in NYC!!”
Well run and clean hotel. Nothing fancy, just a nice hotel. We slept comfortably and it was quiet (at least for New York!!), but there were a lot of sirens and the traffic was heavy. The room had a jetted garden tub that was never mentioned in the amenities. It was wonderful after putting miles and miles on our legs. There was plenty of hot water and it was so refreshing!! Twice, I found the sheets had tiny tears, probably should have been replaced. The pillows were lumpy. The free breakfast was decent, only 2 mornings did they have scrambled eggs, the others were hard-boiled eggs and sausage. The front desk clerks were always pleasant and helpful. We found it to be an great value for the money and we have already recommended this hotel to our friends.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Country inn and suites. The breakfast was good, fresh scrambled eggs, sausages, cereal, donuts, toast, bagels, milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and juices. The room was spacious with a comfy king size bed. The hotel staff was very nice the only thing was that if you needed soap at late hours you had to go to the front desk to get it which I didn't like much but it could have been worst. The staff even let me check in after 12am the next day and Check in is the latest at 12am and I got there about 2am because of transportation issues and my flight landed at 11pm. The only negative I found was that the creases of the tube was a bit pink as if they didn't clean it very well but it appears as if it could just be stained from all the water over time. It was a bit expensive too but I did go to NYC on a high tourist season, last time I went in January I paid about half the price for the same amount of days. Now I know to just go in the winter lol. I really recommend this hotel you will not regret it.
Very nice, clean hotel. Very quiet for New York City. Nice nighttime view of the Queens Bridge and skyline. very easy to get a taxi. Several nice stores and eateries within walking distance.
Charming Old Hotel”
We enjoyed our stay in Country Inn! We did not expect much because the hotel is quite old. But the breakfast was delicious (though they have the same menu everyday), the location is less than 5 minutes away from the train station and there are lots of food options nearby. There actually 3 different train stations near the hotel so wherever you are going, there is a nearby station to serve you. The only discomfort we experienced is that there was a day when we didn't have towels. I am okay with re-using towels (I mean, I am the one who used it anyway) but to take the used towels and not replace them was just an inconvenience. We had to phone the receptionist several times before they provided us towels. But despite that, I liked this hotel! We had a lovely view of Queens bridge as well and the location is very convenient to connect to the airport. Will definitely recommend this hotel and will stay here again next time!
Great location, but potential not being realised”
The location for this hotel is almost ideal for the budget traveler to access Manhattan. Priced way lower than the premium rates in the city, it is still clean, quiet and comfortable accommodation. But there is some potential going begging... Long Island City doesn't have the cachet of Manhattan nor the street views. But the locality around this hotel is being nicely redeveloped just now, with new hotels, shops, offices and dining opening nearby. And with three separate Metro (subway) stations within a few blocks strolling range, access to midtown takes one ride of only a couple of stops. For value access to NY, the location cannot be beaten. So the potential for this hotel is good and should be growing. Alas, while the basics of quiet, clean, comfortable rooms are covered, they does seem to be missing some tricks. For example, the breakfast arrangements are limited and messy and do not cater at all well with the morning rush. Be early, or wait in line for a table! The in-house wifi is way under-equipped for a multi-storey hotel. If you get a connection, you are lucky; if it stays connected, luckier still. It would be a good idea if the desk staff actually knew about local dining and transport options currently available within half a mile of their own hotel. I'm sure these businesses would definitely appreciate any added trade going their way, and there are some very good options going, even a chic restaurant with an art gallery. A local area street map available at the front desk would also be very helpful. Finally, the ice-machine (at least on level 3) is a definite minus. The compressor is so noisy that its vibrations wake the residents in the adjacent rooms regularly. It should really be replaced with vending machines of something, and confined to the dining room only. Summary: If you want a quiet, clean location at a budget price with convenient access to NY, this is it. But there is definitely room for improvement in a number of areas.
Great hotel for a great price!”
Great! The hotel is close to subway stations. The complimentary breakfast was large and satisfying. Most of all, the room was huge (much larger than you will find in Manhattan for probably twice the cost). Everything was clean, the staff was courteous and helpful. Loved this hotel, will probably stay there again when I bring my kids to New York.
Stayed only a few days but it was great. Easy access to nyc as well as the us open. 1 block to queensbourgh plaza and 7 min to midtown. Clean nice a little busy but your in New York and it is the us open. Great DD coffee shop at base of subway entrance. Would come back around 10 or 11 walk back and have no problems. Small convince store next to hotel was never closed. 24 hour parking lot next to convince store. Great about $20 a day some one there all the time. We used it had no problems.
The hotel is a great location to the nearest subway station which was then only 4 stops to Central Station and 6 stops to Times Square making it very easy to access Manhattan. The room we had was spacious and we enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning. Staff at reception were helpful and friendly. Would recommend this hotel to friends visiting New York.
Great hotel got its price”
The hotel is located near sub-way station that can be used to easy access to JFK and also few stations away from Manhetten. The room was clean and well occupied (including refrigirator), the continental breakfast was provided with good variety of products (donats, waffel, juices, etc...). Free hi-speed wifi was also provided. There are no much things to do near the hotel, but subway can easily take you to any location in the city. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants hotel near Manhetten, but not willing to pay Manhetten prices.
fantastic hotel - don't be fooled by the exterior”
we arrived and were greeted with a swift check-in and complimentary bottled water. the rooms were large and clean - evelyn & crabtree freebies in the bathroom were a nice touch! the hotel location is easiest located from n,q lines at 39th avenue - it is a 3 minute walk. stayed at a few other hotels in lic for trips to ny before, but liked this one because they bothered to put the icing on the cake. don't be put off by the area or the exterior; it's a great place to stay!
It was our first time in New York and we were scared to choose a hotel but this spot does the trick! It’s near a subway station and even if you walk at night, the street is still very lively! You wouldn’t be scared to walk. Plus it’s near a lot of stores and restaurants for a quick bite or if you need to buy some necessities! It comes with free breakfast too! It’s not the best but it’s a good way to start your day so you won’t splurge too much in the city. The rooms are clean and I love their comfy bed & pillows! Bring a hairdryer if you want coz theirs is old school and attached to the wall. Rooms come with microwave and fridge and coffee maker. I don’t know but the ice machine on our floor didn’t work. The WiFi is good too! Just get the password from the lobby! And the thing we love the most is after you checkout you can still leave your luggages in the lobby if you have a late flight and still want to explore the city!
I have read some of the negative reviews and feel that they are unfair. Yes, one of the windows is broken at the entrance of the hotel and there is a smell of pot lurking around the hotel and the noise factor with residents in the rooms next door and the cleaners in the morning, however, the rooms were very comfortable. Coffee facilities, microwave and toiletries. Lovely breakfast and hotel was situated in the perfect location. My sister and Brother-in-Law stayed in the hotel a block away from us, they paid double what we paid. They did not have breakfast included and they complained of noise in their hotel. They staff - they were fine. Ok, we weren’t welcomed with a big smile when we arrived and on our first morning there were no tables free for us to eat breakfast . The old lady who was refilling the breakfast items was not interested when I brought this to her attention, so we took our breakfast to our room and ate it there every morning throughout our stay.
value for money in term of location ”
New York city hotel is too expensive. This hotel is just a few stops away from time square, making its price alot more affordable when compared to hotel in the central. The only issue is that the design of the curtain is weird, it couldn't close completely as it is blocked by the heater. Sun light will shine through in the morning, it wouldn't be a problem if u are early riser.
3 years ago we were here also. You can see that the rooms are used for 3 more years. It looked better 3 years ago. The breakfast is okay, but the space in the breakfastroom is not enough. You have to stand. Also when you come around 8, there are no more donuts, yoghurt, etc. So I was glad there was breakfast, but it could be better organized. Tea unfortunately tasted like coffee. Everyday cleaning room and new towels. the hotel is 1 and 2 block away from subways. To lexington, around 5 minutes ride. There are stores in the neighbourhood where you can buy drinks and food. Starbucks is opening soon. A few restaurants also. The E subway to the airtrain stops also here. I would definitely try again this hotel when I come to New York again. The price is good for what you get.
Value for money and accessible to and from Airport/Manhattan”
Great value hotel and still somewhat new with soft bed and clean sheets and towels. Basic breakfast of cereal coffee tea juice bagels doughnuts bread eggs etc..but its a buffet and not continental..which is better! 10mins walk from Queens Plaza Station coming from Jamaica/Airport via E-Train, 5mins walk to Queensboro Station to Manhattan via 7-Train.
This inn is like 30 minutes away from all the tourist spots in NYC! The subways are only a walking distance away. There are stores all over the place and restaurants, too. Only downside would be is that even though we put up a "don't disturb sign" on our door. The staff still clean the room and left the door unlock one time. Other than that, it is worth the price.
Good stay, value for money”
This hotel is a good one, value for money. Staffs are good and cooperative. The best part is, it is very near to Queensboro Plaza subway station, walkable distance of 4 min. approx. From there you can move to any place. Check in time is 3 pm. So we submitted our luggage and took subway train to Battery island to visit statue of Liberty and Ellis island. From JFK airport it is little far, around 40 min in cab with fare approximately 45 dollar.
A great place to start your holiday!”
After a long flight and traffic jam...check-in was fast! Break fast was good and importantly the housekeeping was flawless. The queen bed was perfect for us to enjoy our sleep and ready for our holiday trips in east coast!
