For a few extra dollars I wish I had stayed next door at the Travel Lodge
I arrived from Interstate rushing to book in and unload my luggage to be at a wedding. Being Easter Saturday the office was closed but no one had called to tell me this or give me alternative arrangements even though they had my details. I walked around the whole complex (which is a confusing mix of businesses and tower block) looking for some kind of "reception". It was only on retracing my steps that I saw the closed office with a piece of paper with my name sticky taped on the front door for all of Melbourne to see asking me to collect my room keys from next door at the travel lodge (confidentiality people?!?). Post key collection (time ticking away) and after dragging my luggage around i finally located my apartment after a ride in an elevator that smelt like a urinal. A quick walk through a grubby little entranceway/forecourt to a room that was adequate, tired, dated but clean (or so I thought) with all the rudimentary items. With no clear way to arrange a "late checkout" I left for my wedding. Post wedding review of the paperwork indicated the office would be open at 7 or 7.30 (if memory serves me correctly) so I rang in at that time in the morning to arrange a late check out. Not before i accidentally moved the lamp next to the bed which revealed a scum ring that was probably the same age as the complex. I wish I could show the photo. I digress, No one answered and so I left a message to request the late check out. At 11.20am I received a phone call to my room (which woke me - remember - Wedding!) to say they had got my message and the office would be closing at 12pm being Easter Sunday. I said OK I'll do my best to hurry and pack and be there for 12pm. I was unceremoniously told "No!... I need you to come to the office now because we are getting ready to close the office!".O....K....?!? so no shower, throw my belongings into my bag, and with nowhere to store my bag as I explore Melbourne before my late afternoon flight, i jumped into a taxi and went stra

Dirty, fittings falling apart, nothing like the pictures
My room was dirty, including I had to clean the table before I could eat a meal, the floor had bits that should have been vacuumed. The fittings, especially in the kitchen area, were damaged, the shower head sagged and other things were just worn and marked. On arrival I was asked to make a credit card 'deposit' of $300 although I had prepaid and when I objected I was told it was stated when I booked. It wasn't. After a long discussion about this the receptionist checked both Agoda and Quest websites and agreed with me, so he accepted that I was not required to do this. We then had another discussion about wifi charges (the websites said "wifi in rooms"). Only in Australia! I've stayed in other Quest apartments (Brisbance, Adelaide, Launceston) which were good. THis one is not. The staff were pleasant but I don't know how they keep that up if this is what they are running. I won't be going again.

Great value
Location, value, very large
Fantastic reception from the young man in the office. Given all the information needed. Room had separate lounge, kitchen, laundry. So much space! Tired decor, could lose the red and black but spotlessly clean. Everything there and location brilliant!

location, comfortable and helpful staff
It's very easy to access the center of Melbourne. Near coffee area, my favorite - Lygon street. Comfortable room. Tips: it takes you around 10' to reach the Melbourne museum

I feel that apartment decor was tired and shabby.
Location was appropriate for our needs.
The decor of the apartment was tired and outdated. Interior painting would lift the ambience. Curtains in all rooms were dusty. The location was ideal for our needs. The bed was clean and comfortable.
