“"Great Emperor Queen City"”
The hotel I recognized from the Grab taxi driver I took at the airport is the Quincy Hotel. I stayed there for four days, and I really enjoyed it. Coming from mainly Japanese business hotels, I saw many things for the first time. Including a welcome drink (which was ice cream for me), there were welcome snacks in the room. Additionally, all snacks in the lounge on the first floor are free, with cereal and yogurt available. There's also a water dispenser. The breakfast hours extend to 2:30 PM, which is quite generous, so it's nice to have brunch and lunch at the hotel. The hotel generally includes breakfast, so having local dishes (nasi goreng) and Western options (bread, eggs, sausages, etc.) when you come out is a good choice. The location is about a 10-minute walk from Orchard station. However, you need to walk uphill when returning to the hotel. The hotel shares the entrance with two other hotels, so you need to make sure not to get confused when entering. I stayed at the hotel during the F1 event, so I saw the hotel staff setting up various experience devices (e.g., Mario Kart, Simracing) in the lobby. I couldn't try them, and I really wish I could have. The hotel has a pool and gym, which are free. I don’t swim well and don’t exercise much, so I didn’t go often, but I think the reviews were good. Inside the room, the sockets are Universal type, so no "pig nose" adapter is needed. However, for heat-generating devices (iron, hairdryer), you have to use the UK sockets (three prongs) available in the wardrobe. The internet isn't very fast but isn't inconvenient either (measured at 1 Mbps on fast.com) and requires login to use. The TV shows your name (which was touching) and features major channels, including sports channels. You can watch videos you want through wired mirroring using an HDMI cable or wireless mirroring. There's a refrigerator, but it's empty. I recommend buying water nearby. The bathroom has an open structure where everything is visible from outside, so I suggest closing the curtains. The one thing I found most disappointing was the water pressure; the shower had weak pressure while the sink had strong pressure, which made it unfortunate that part of my body got wet every time I washed my hands. There is a bidet. It's a mechanical bidet, not an electronic one, but it can greatly enhance quality of life. Really. To summarize, I just think it’s good, and it seems it will continue to be good. Based on the capabilities of the front desk staff, if you mention any deficiencies, they will likely correct most things. If I go again, I'd like to stay here, but I think I won't have the money.
